On a related note, does anyone know a good way to weigh down the base of that metal raptor? He's a little top heavy lol. My usual go-to of gluing a nickel in there won't work because the metal support strut :/

 

Have you got the bits of metal sprue left over ? sometimes they can help I've heard, but it might not be quite enough.

 

It might be possible to stick some metal bits on top of the base itself and use them as part of the basing ?

 

 

Sounds like a plan, I'll give it a try. Worst case scenario he's less awful. Gonna jam some copper wire in there too for added heft.

Honestly, I use pennies for top heavy models :P Glue a few of them to the bottom of the base and you're golden.

 

So, apparently I made a drunken penance vow a few pages back. I have had a super busy past few days (as well as biking around 18 miles a day for fitness related stuff) so I did not complete said drunken penance vow in the time allotted. I should have everything base coated and shaded in short order, but a failure is a failure(regardless of my mental faculties at the time :lol: ) So Semper, you get to choose my Avatar image and signature until January 1, 2017 :rolleyes: Oh boy...

Progress so far.

I had hoped to get the Lord of Skulls finished by last weekend but, unfortunately, life got in the way.

Now I'm away on holiday, so they'll be languishing incomplete on my painting table for the next two weeks.

A TDA version of my chaos lord Sophusar, counting as Typhus: armed with the ManreaperFalx Horrificus, Destroyer Hive Jive, a good ol' book of sorcery (ML2), a deep enjoyment of pain (FNP. Hey, he's a lord of Slaanesh) and he turns my Slaangor cultists into plague zombies entranced nutters. Oh and he has a load of severed ears on that chain.

Captain Semper, will this be ETL-acceptable for my third vow when I get around to it?

So you want a Terminator Lord of Slaanesh to "count-as" the most iconic Terminator Lord of the Death Guard and one of the most significant Dramatis Personae of the 40 lore? Ok then. :D The rule of cool alone would dictate my reply but the miniature seems to be of the same basic size, stance and complexity. Go for it sir!

I, B E N, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete:

  • Chaos Lord (Pair of Lightning Claws, Jump Pack, MoK) - 120 pts
  • Sorcerer (MoS) - 75 pts
  • Dark Apostle (MoK) - 115 pts
  • 5x Raptors (Champion: Lighting Claw, 2x Flamers, MoK, IoW) -145 pts

of a total value of 455 points on or before August 15th, 2016. Success will bring eternal glory to the Black Legion and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

Cheers Captain! I find my style can be a bit like marmite you either love it or hate it. I learnt to paint towards the end of the Rogue trader era and the beginning of 2nd edition so my style is heavily influenced by that period of clean models and bright colours.

'ello. Figured I'd check in with my updates once more. Nothing too exciting on the WIP front: Huron got some red (though his Hamadrya is finished), and the Land Raider has been getting lots of attention.

 

Beyond that, the real reason I'm here is to drop these off: Finished pictures of my Defiler, and it's glorious (claw-grabbed Cultist for dramatic photograph purposes only).

Scourged, that's excellent. Is it made from just one Defiler?

Sadly no, but close. Start with one stock defiler. Then find the means to acquire two more legs, one more claw, and the bottom chassis piece. That bottom chassis piece is just so you can harvest the, uh, "brackets" that house the ball joints of the legs. Stick those on the underside and you have two more mounts to give you six legs. The third claw becomes the tail. I chose not to include the extra arm piece that makes the "elbow" joint for mine, but most do include it when making tails.

 

My main inspiration came from a tutorial on Dakka, though I made plenty of tweaks. The version there harvested pieces from a Soul Grinder instead, and it works quite well for them.

 

But other than those extra limbs (and chassis) all I added extra was some hoses from the Helbrute pack. The flamers in the mouth and gargoyles are just from surplus Rhino bits that I know we all have.

My first unit is done, and they were a blast to paint. I ended up solving my viscera problem with Nurgle's Rot paint, instead of Blood for the Blood God, it seemed more appropriate. When my bases are fully dry, I'll add a little earthshade around the feet, thanks for the suggestions.

 

Now on to my Kranon / disc lord.

Got my lap top back yesterday & everything seem to be ok so far.  So though show some progress stuff.

 

 

 

 

Iron Circle models I'm useing as Contemptor in my own Chaos era Iron Warriors force/still see them with in the diffrent warband in the IV Legion much like we see from Armour 13: Lost & the Damned, still kicking about in the 40k era.

Both models where finish painted during the weekend there.  Really like useing mix of Chaos, Mechanicus & the FW Iron Warrior transfer sheets on them.

2nd ed era Khorne Berzerker

Just wanted to get these five painted to get a rough idea how I want the models to look.  I'm not sure what I want to do for the Chainsword right now.  Hopeful sort that out ether tomorrow or during the weekend.  Part me want to have the chainsword as yellow/black strip's, or see if a Khorne transfer could fit on them.

These 10 Khorne Berzerker just got undercaoted earily today as well as useing the Mephiston red spray basecoat.

These two Rhinos where just undercaoted earily today.  I'm wanting to painting somthing cool for the hatch & I do have a idea.  So hopeful get both of these tanks painted next week as I really want to see if it will work out.

Then the two unit of Chosen & one unit of 20 Chaos Marines. I've got a lot idea from painting sort of Daemonic face like I done for my own Iron Warriors Emperor Will object marker/my Grand Company Standard Bearer.  As well as my usely Chaos icons on the shoulder pads & diffrent part of the armour, sort like the Black Legion image we see in the Gav era codex Chaos Marines.  Just trying to work out if I should go purple or pink to help with the Slannesh side for this warband?

Progress! Motivation! Yay!

My progress slowed a bit down this month, as I first got a cold and than had to go to the hospital. Anyways, I'm back, and fit again. I did some progress on Zarakynel today!

Not sure who makes it but someone in GW was using a paint called 'Black Metal' funnily enough its a metalic black, you should totally use it on these. Oh and dont forget the pink Hello Kitty or Skellanimals guitar straps, they will still look the part dont worry, I play guitar in a Black Metal band and I have a pink strap. :lol:

@ Atia *generic 'nice bottom' comment* that Daemons looking well nice so far.

@Insane Psycopath, those Iron Circle look amazing, Im now tempted at getting some after seeing yours and I dont even play Iron Warriors.
