dracpanzers ETL vow Sisters

  • 2 weeks later...

My son started collecting a Dark Eldar army this week. Some used bin purchases at a tourney last Saturday and a couple of local players looking to unload a bit of extras and he is able to field a 1500 point Real space Raider detachment with 24 Reaver jetbikes, accompanied by some scourges, venoms, true borns and the like. There is more, but he hasn't gotten more than that assembled along the all mounted or jetbike theme so far. Quite the slacker for one week.

Anyhow, we got the chance to try out his new force today on my current project, a City fight table. We played the Maelstrom mission where you can score your opponents #'d objectives if they can't. Diagonal deployment, he deployed first and then forced me to go first. I fielded four double flamer BSS squads in Repressors, two Dom squads with four melta's in Repressors, a Retributor squad, an Exorcist, Pen Engine, and Celestine along with a five strong two flamer Seraphim squad.

He's just learning to move, pounce, assault and what not. Quite a nasty match up. The Sisters were able to squeak out a win 16-15 after six rounds. I was able to kill his Archon in turn six for a Maelstrom card that I rolled 3 pts for, plus one for secondary objectives to pull ahead.

Celestine was able to jump over the central Cathedral and nuke a squad of Reavers, get knocked down. Got back up and burned up a cabalite warrior squad deployed in a small manufactorium building. Take two wounds getting assaulted by another squad of Reavers, HnR out and burn up a squad of scourges while targeting a reaver squad she then charged, killed all but two in close combat and ran them down after grabbing a maelstrom card for forcing a failed leadership check and another for killing a squad in close combat.

Great performance from her all around. Though she did then fall under the weight of fire from two Venoms. All in all a great battle that was a lot of fun. My son is really enjoying the Reaver jetbikes which will soon number 36...... Terrain is still on the project table, but the buildings are at least primed in the correct colors.... Here are some pics.

Don't I wish! Been a big morning Sororitas wise, did more internet surfing than I had intended. Got the first attempt at converting a Celestian for a command squad to run with Condemnor Boltguns. Went for the easy swap first on the grenade sister. I wanted to see how it fit, had to be cut, would look and all before I went about hacking it into a more traditional model. Inspired by the look of the new Inquisitor, I went with a dwarf crossbow that will hopefully hold up as a passing resemblance to the one she wields. Intend to build a squad of at least four with a Hospitaller to follow her around. Can't wait to see points for her.

Thoughts and Comments appreciated.

And just to prove that I have done my part to let GW know that Sisters do have a customer base.

She is currently curing up after her primer coat. Torn between getting the rest of a Celestian squad with Condemnor's converted up or painting her first.

Decided to go forward with a Celestian (Sororitas Command Squad) Squad with four Condemnor's and a Hospitaller to roll around with our incoming pilgrim hat Inquisitor. The one on the far right was acquired a long time ago with the chaplet hacked off for some reason. I must have been in a mood because I filled the gap with a salt shaker of sorts. Take that for what it is I guess. Hospitaller won't be converted (that's a first) but I didn't dig her out for pictures.

Any of these conversions look a little off?

I've been lucky enough to get a fair amount of games in over the Xmas break. The command squad with condemnor boltguns has made quite the impact. Nobody wants to play psykers against me anymore!

Since I have no intention of NOT using my old St. Celestine when FoCadia comes out. I took the opportunity to use some Seraphim Superiors that never get included in my lists to serve as her Gemini. The Martyred Lady Superior is actually the first SoB model I ever painted way back in 2ed when they first came out. She got a bit of a face lift this past summer, but I gave her a weapon swap to match the Gemini and lost her pack to have it replaced with a standard SoB backpack and wings. The Bloody Rose Gemini is just a model I converted several years ago with a head swap but never painted. Gave her a pack with wings to match and painted her up.

I wanted to keep the Crusade feel of my current SoB project so I spread the color schemes around a bit.

I'm pretty happy with the group. I hate basing, so the two Gemini will have to wait on further additions until I get a few more projects done =]

WIP shots of my Canoness Veridyan painted up in Argent Shroud colors.

Veridyan is looking good. My time's been spent edging my rhinos hulls in gold. such a time consuming and boring process and my attention keeps wandering… but still. 2 down 8 to go.

Thanks, I know what you mean, hull edging is a exercise in mind numbing. I find that gaming in between helps, nothing like an unpainted model or unfinished model to get me motivated to paint.

Looks nice! I approve of the use of Blood Angels bits, of course tongue.png I'm actually hoping to bust out my Sanguinary Guard in the new year. But also more Sisters biggrin.png

Normally I haven't apart from my Living Saint. But I figured it might be fitting with the Gemini being bodyguards for Celestine.

That's the dove, I thought about giving her a hand flamer but didn't in the end. Don't remember why I didn't, but I wouldn't go back now and do it. Would be too worried about fouling the paint job.
