Dammit - it's not a transformer, it's some kind of Anime thing. YOU MAKE ME FEEL OLD AND OUT OF TOUCH! :(

Well don't feel too bad. Several of the more popular Transformers series since G1 were anime (basically everything from Beast Wars up to Animated)

In regards to the model: You know, I've seen people using Gundams for T'au, never seen someone use Gundam for inspiration for Marines though

Like Augustus, I felt reminded of Optimus Prime at first, but then again, I grew up on Masters of the Universe and silly Transformers toys, and that huge Optimus Prime toy was one of the unattainable dreams of my childhood before I ever even knew there was such a thing as Gundam (my introduction to Mecha-Animé, weirdly enough, came in the form of "Saber Rider & the Star Sheriffs", which was incredibly popular in Germany).

*ahem*

Sorry, I was rambling. Anyway, the Gundam angle is definitely there, and it should become even more obvious once he has the classic colour scheme ;)

After reading some posts I have an awesome idea.

Step 1: Buy a FW Mastodon.

Step 2: ?

Step 3: Make it a transform into Optimus Prime.

Then figure out how to turn a bolter into Megatron.

Metroplex may be more appropriate for a Mastodon. (I think Optimus Prime should be a Land Raider-Stormraven triple-changer.)

Then figure out how to turn a bolter into Megatron.

Megatron is obviously a Necron construct- a Monolith or Obelisk (for later versions that transform into tanks), or a Pylon (for the gun- also a possible alt mode for Shockwave).

Holy monkeys! We have just begun our first steps onto creating the most ambitious crossover, ever! 40k: Cybertron Heresy!

*sorry to derail Vairocanum. Just getting hit hard with childhood nostalgia now and I want to run with it.

Dude, Gundam is from when we were kids. The original is from 1979... I remember seeing it as re-runs when I was just a wee one. I love Gundam and I hate anime (weird, I know).

That's so cool, Vairo! I'd echo the call for a Zaku or two, especially Char's.

This week I made my second attempt at a Gundam Marine (my first attempt on first page of this thread). I had wanted to do a Gundam Marine ever since the grey knight plastics were released cause I thought the GK interceptor backpack looked like the beam sabers from the RX-78. Wasn't happy with my first attempt, but came back to try again a few months ago and only finalized the bits choice recently. I've based the Gundam Marine off the RX-78 mentioned earlier and equipped the model with the standard "beam rifle" and shield like the original. Didn't want to go for an exact replica, just pulled some more major design aspects from the RX-78. I decided to use the primaris legs cause I liked the chunkier look compared to regular legs. The MKIII torso was enlarged with plasticard spacers both top-bottom and left-right so that it would fit with the primaris legs and the arms are basically done from scratch using the white plasticard rods and greenstuff. I still need to fix up some places as well as finish off the back of the gun but it's basically done so I'm sharing here first. Unfortunately as soon as I finished taking pics I knocked off one of the "beam sabers" on the backpack and I have no idea where it is now, at least I got the pictures though :wallbash:.Thanks for looking and C&C is appreciated!

For those who don't know: http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/RX-78-2_Gundam

With that said, this series was my introduction to giant robots, even before transformers g1. I even have it on dvd. The RX-78-2 is an icon in the Gundamverse as it's creation sets the stage for every Gundam creation after it.

I love how you've gotten in there to do this conversion. Even the backpack has been given a lot of attention to get it to look the part! Most people would have slacked off there, but you went the extra mile!

Head to toe this guy looks the part. Have you thought of doing two more and running them as a killteam? That would have you through the original series arc.

If he'es a stand alone, killteam, or INQ28, I'm sure you're going to get you money's worth on this one. Can't wait to see him painted!

Fantastic work on the Jokaero for sure! I love the guitar string vertebrae. The eyeball is a really cool idea!

The Primaris conversion makes me think of Optimus Prima for some reason... I'm not even sure whether that's a good thing or a bad? It's very involved for sure, so slap some paint on that thing!

Dammit - it's not a transformer, it's some kind of Anime thing. YOU MAKE ME FEEL OLD AND OUT OF TOUCH!

Sorry to go off-topic here and hog the thread, but KrautScientist, if you like the toys that made us, go watch the The Toys That Made Us documentary on Netflix!

Thanks Augustus! The eyeball on the Jokaero seemed like a good in-between daemon and machine tool to equip. The Optimus vibes are probably a result of the boxy arms and blue legs which definitely do make me think transformers as well. Also as others have mentioned Gundam actually pre-dates Transformers and is still one of the most popular mech franchises in the world today. Thanks for mentioning that documentary, I've been meaning to rewatch it for a while now but kept forgetting!

I saw your recent conversion and thought "no way" but sure enough it was the RX-78! Now you need to give him a squad like the 8th MS Team and a enemy to fight. Maybe a double gatling gun shield Gouf and some zakus?

Yeah...this is how I finally get to see a miniatures game for Gundam.

Thanks hushrong! I did a crap job on my original version so I definitely wanted to come back to it and this time around I think I got it right. I definitely wanted to make some other gundam marines including zakus but honestly don't have the bits to do it at the moment but definitely something to consider for the future when making a bits order. Transformers and warhammer definitely sounds cool as Orktimus Prime (by Madscuzzy i think) was such a great conversion. I loved reading these cool crossover ideas so I definitely didn't mind going off topic!

AutoMarines Transform !!!!! :biggrin.:

Thanks DSS7! This guy was actually a gundam but I should definitely consider doing some transformers as well in the future!

Thanks Gederas! I've seen a few T'au painted up in gundam colors but I wanted to make something that looked closer to the original mech but still looked distinctly warhammer.

Thanks Kraut! I know what you mean about those transfomers toys, I usually got bought simple gundam models instead cause they were cheaper so that's what I grew up on. I've seen a bit of Saber Rider & the Star Sheriffs but haven't watched the whole series, got a whole bunch of old mecha anime on my "to watch" list. The unfortunate thing about the classic color scheme would be that I have to attempt to paint yellow which I have never gotten close to getting right back when I still had paints.

Thanks Bjorn! All these ideas for transformers and warhammer sound cool! Megatron as a Necron construct is a really interesting thought!

I always figured Megatron would turn into the Fortress of Arrogance.

Thanks CardinalVirtue! Having a Baneblade transform would be the coolest thing ever, would love to see someone attempt this!

Thanks DuskRaider! I would consider myself a fan of anime (I love mecha or comedy anime in particular), but a lot of current stuff is too focused on fan service so I can see why you'd hate anime. I'll definitely keep thinking about how to make a Zaku with warhammer bits as the shapes of the armor seem a bit more tricky to translate than the RX.

Thanks Custom Hero! I was super lazy in my first attempt at a Gundam Marine back in 2016 so I figured I had to step up the details this time around. I am considering doing some more Gundam Marines of some well known gundams but for now I don't have the bits to do another at the moment so it'll have to wait till my next bits order.

I went to see Deadpool 2 yesterday, such a fun movie! So anyways this week I made my second attempt at a Deadpool Marine (first attempt on page 7). I think he looks significantly better than the first but the head still isn't to my liking (although I improved with the size this time). I'll have to wait till I get better at sculpting non-armored stuff before coming back to it (or if I can find a good sized head to press-mold). I'm quite happy with the rest of the model though as I thought the reivers would make a perfect base for Deadpool with all the pouches and stuff. Anyways thanks for looking and C&C is appreciated!

The deadpool marine is awesome, and the movie was great ;)! I agree the face isn´t quite right yet, probably the eyes are too far appart, but still overall it looks great, love your more "humorous" conversions!

Deadpool is looking good!

Far be it from me as I suck at sculpting but I think the raised portions of his eyes and around them need to be brought down. At the moment they are stacked onto the face when really those patches are sewn in to his mask. I do not know if that makes sense.

Battle-brother Deadpool looks cool, despite missing his namesake's second sword and second pistol. I suspect he's also missing the "Kick me" sign his battle-brothers will put on his back, as retribution for being a jerk.

Just cool!

As for 40k/Transformers, I've had a long term idea for converting a dread knight into Megatron and running it as a Defiler. Alas my budget does not allow for such dreams to be realised

Knowing the Decepticon Emperor of Destruction, a Dreadknight-turned-Megatron will have its former Grey Knight pilot crucified to a trophy rack on his back, to show what'll happen to anyone foolish enough to think he/she can control Megatron.

Thanks Traitor! I think I'll come back to the head again in a while, I did make the eyes closer than last time but as you said they're still too far apart. I really like comedic conversions to show the lighter side of 40k, got some ideas but don't have the bits to try them out yet so might take a while before the next one haha.

Mwhahaaha. Insanely good sculpt of deadpool

Thanks Mikhal! I think I did a better job overall than my first attempt but still need to get the head right before I can consider it complete.

Thanks Bjorn, if anything I think Deadpool would be the one that puts "kick me" signs on other battle brothers. Then the other battle brothers would flat out shoot Deadpool till he's mushy paste. Good thing he's a perpetual....errr I mean good thing he's got a healing factor. Also great hearing some more 40k/transformer cross over concepts from you!

Just cool!

Thanks Razblood, I had a lot of fun doing the model overall but still gotta get the head done right next time. I really want to do some sort of robot conversion with a dreadknight too but I'm pretty unfamiliar with bigger bits so I would have to do some major planning first (or learn to use plasticard which I also suck at). Very cool to imagine a Megatron dread knight though, maybe "The Last Knight" version would look nice.

Had a pretty busy week of classes but I managed to build this Mechanicus Assassin concept this week. A friend of mine wanted to add a squad of mechanicus type assassins to his army but couldn't decide on which approach to take so me and a couple other people decided to make our own concepts to see if he liked any of them. I decided to go for a close combat assassin so I gave him some sort of claw with vials of toxins attached and a knife. GS work isn't as clean as it could have been cause I slapped this together in a day (super glued, then 2 sculpting sessions). It was a quick build but I had a lot of fun with it, I might add it to my plastic inqusitor's warband if I don't make another assassin instead. I don't think my friend will be using my concept directly but he said he's definitely going to copy the hooded rustalker heads. Anyways thanks for looking and C&C is appreciated!

Your green stuff sculpting skills are excellent. The AdMech assassin looks like an Emperor-damned xeno, but I understand his masters never placed as much faith in the sanctity of the human form as... well, everyone else. Besides, the xeno-like appearance might help him strike fear into his targets' hearts.

That's nice! I think he would go well with an inquisitor warband. Please tell me those will be vial of poison on his right forearm and they feed into the claws.

Thanks hushrong! Yep those are definitely poison vials, I thought they'd look better on the arm and make the claw look more like a weapon instead of just a standard mechanicus arm.

Let him loose in the lower Hives.

Thanks DSS7! I would say that he can be bathed in blood but the mechanicus probably already has him wearing red already.

Thanks Bjorn! Yea a lot of mechanicus stuff wouldn't look that out of place with some xenos I think. Not know what you're being killed by would definitely be scary for any of his targets.

Nice work as per, though the smooth circular areas are begging for some kind of sigil I think.

Thanks Pearson73! Agreed that I should add more detail to it if I use it for my INQ28 warband but I didn't really bother with much this time cause he was just a concept for my friend.

Very cool for a concept, though I do think the sicarian legs would have fit him better. However I do like a lot the addition of poison vials to the claw!

Thanks Traitor! If I used the sicarian legs he'd just be a sicarian with a hood as that kit also has a chest piece with the robes already attached haha. I'm quite happy with the claw as well!

That bike is amazing. Mind linking which exact bit you've used? I want to do a tribute unit on my SW to the dark angels and that would be perfect.

Thanks Grieux! Going to assume you meant the White Scars Librarian. Parts: SM bike, metal librarian torso, DA ravenwing icon wings, stormcast eternal shoulder pad, terminator librarian icon, DA ravenwing legs, DA ravenwing scroll & purity seal, DW white scars shoulder pad, metal pistol in holster, tactical squad scroll, genestealer skull, imperial guard knife in sheath. And that should be it, feel free to ask more questions if you need further info.

I just had the laziest week, did absolutely nothing constructive and just lazed about the whole week outside of classes. This week is another concept model, this time a mercenary of some sort. Work is rougher this time as well cause he was finished in a day as well. I usually keep damaged bits separately from other bits and I decided to try and do something with what I had. The catachan torso had scratches and was missing some pouches while the scout legs were salvaged from my friend after his dog chewed up one of his models. I fixed up the torso as usual, and resculpted and reposed the legs that had teeth marks in them. The boots are different cause I used the scout boots on a Khornate cultist a while back, so I used some catachan boots instead. Just some light hobby work this week cause inspiration hasn't struck for my Dark Mechanicus warband so I might switch back to marine stuff for a while if I don't figure out something soon. Anyways thanks for looking, and C&C is appreciated!
