Soldier of Dorn

Must admit that was my first thought.  He was originally going to be pointing but then I used that arm and just thought, nah, gotta stick with it for meme's sake.  He will (if I can rig it up) be holding a set of Imperial Guard Binoculars in his other hand.  Just debating that helm or a bare head.  bare head suits binoculars more, I think. But I love the Mk III Helmets

It is with deep regret brothers, that I come with news that I Mactire will not be able to complete my vows and accept failure in the Tale of 20 Hobbyists. Sorry guys my painting mojo has totally dried up since the New Year, I've made several attempts to get anything done but just end up sitting there messing with bitz and sprues. To the rest of you keep fighting the good fight and I look forward to seeing the final completions of all who make it to the end. Thanks again for including me and apologies for not making it a full 20.

@ lion: They look great, buddy! I particularly like the Templar Brethren helmet with the added crest! About your weathering - they look pretty weathered to me already! May I suggest you put on the transfers right after the base colours and before you do washes etc? They stand out a bit, as they are now! Perhaps you can still fix that with weathering, though :tu:

Edit: my thrice-damned cat pressed Post before I was finished.

Ya man on the looking weathered already;)... these dudes above are 3 years years of different paint jobs and I am trying to get a unified dirty and grungy in the trenches and not having a rest to refit vibe. The weathering I found with the leviathan has translated pretty well to the termis and the first round of dudes I tried it on so plan on spending several hours doing the washes/streaks/powders before I head out Sunday.

The transfers are new to me(6 months now) so all new dudes will have them applied before washes, etc.

So the month finished a few days ago... Whoops.  I got the tactical squad finished so at least I don't fail absolutely.  I will get pics of Secondus up soon.  Guess that brings me onto the last month of vows.  So this month I vow to finish Predator Furorem as well as a Tactical Terminator Squad with Assault Cannon.  Points and pics to come.

Also come on the rest of you guys.  Where are you?

SO! This is the last month of the event... I'm guessing there's about five left over from the original twenty! Let's make the last month count!

I'm also altering my original army list to include some Cataphractii terminators and a terminator chaplain.

I, Augustus b'Raass, vow on the honour of the Emperor, Dorn and my humble self to paint at least a five-man Cataphractii Terminator Squad (175), and a Terminator Chaplain (120) for a total of 295 points out of 3020 points before the end of this event. ohmy.png

Here´s a wip picture of the cataphractii terminators.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/Imperial%20Fists/WP_20170402_001%202_zpsef9snwdk.jpg

I forgot to vow the chaplain when I had him in WiP - you know me, when I want to paint something, I can't stop. So I had already painted him when I realized that I still had to vow this guy.... whoopsie.

Here's a WiP of the Terminator Chaplain

and here's a Finished picture. You can find more pictures of his WiP pics here and his finished pictures here, all in my Plog.

Urgh ... I've not been able to sit long enough to get painting done and I can't paint standing up (I have tried). So I've been gs'ing bits and converting other stuff. I found I can do this stood up or even flat on my back if needed.

Had a ludicrous amount of time off work lately and just back in. Physio starting soon so hoping once the physio starts easing things up I'll be able to get some things done.

I've already decided to avoid any vow for the ETL this year in favour of getting my back sorted. However this means I should hopefully be in fine form for the next round of this challenge and actually be able to finish it!!!

Well I have been a little remiss of late, real life has got in the way and my hobby mojo took a hit, indeed I had moments thinking 'whats the point' and angry moments of stripping models because they didn't meet my expectations. It really is a pain painting bright pink!! Luckily I seem to be over this silliness and blatant Third Legion perfectionism!!

So what's been happening? I've been plugging away at the Deredeo, it is very nearly done, just re-doing the head, for some reason painting the eyes caused me all sorts of grief. A small push and I'll get him done and dusted. I've been dabbling around with random test models for squads to come, tinkered with my Veterans, Assault squad, biker squad and even converted a breacher - I do hope to finish the tester for each squad soon! I have also been working on a pretty exciting, if not expensive project involving jet bikes! I'll probably update my WIP thread about these soon.....

Anyway, I believe I need to complete 1xDeredeo, 2x Apothecaries and a contemptor to get me back on track, tallish order with the other things I've got going. In order to get my army up and running I am going to vow another 10 tactical marines, not the most exciting of vows but I can turn these guys around pretty quickly - as the WIP pics show, batch painted the pink on 5 whilst doing or re-doing my concept models. This should allow me to get these all done with the prospect of 5 Veterans sneaking in! I also reckon I'll do 5 veteran assault marines too, but as Heresy insists I do 10 I can't be certain I'll get enough jump packs in time, so I won't vow them.

and finally some bases, lots of guys in the pipeline to fill these and of course rebasing my squad on the old small bases!!

Nice going, Eidolon. We've all had RL impede on our priogress. The most important thing is that you're still committed to the event - for which you get a cookie!

Reading your comment, I couldn't help but notice your list of things to finish are as follows: 1xDeredeo, 2x Apothecaries and a contemptor,10 tactical marines, 5 Veterans and maybe 5 veteran assault marines. No offence, but seeing as this is the last month of the event, isn't that a bit too much? You're a fast painter, but I dare say I am even faster - and even I am very much doubtfull if I could paint so much stuff in 26 days. It's your call of course, but if I were you I'd reconsider and set a more feasible goal for myself. Better set yourself up for success than for failure, no? :tu: We want you ending the event with a feeling of pride over your accomplishments :D

Ident: 1st Legion Naval asset

Type: Mk 1-B Primaris-Lightning Strike Fighter

Location: Thao Mountain range. Low altitude. Pict captured at 372km. Da'thao city at estimated 829km.

Designation: Purity's Wings of +Redacted+ Squadron

Armament: High yield explosive ordnance. Anti vehicle laser weaponry.

Danger rating: Gamma.7

...

Notes: Design suggests main role is as a fast harassment/strike fighter alongside more heavily armed and armoured aircraft. Although explosives carried vary, once the main payload has been used, no method of re-armament bar returning to (assumption) their main support structure is possible. Suggest luring out with low-effectiveness vehicles, then interdicting with flak or fighters once missiles have been shot.

+Update+

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Armament: Extremely high yield explosive ordnance.

Danger rating: Alpha.2

Notes.Additional: Da'thao city destroyed by two wings (three aircraft each). Missiles appeared to have been replaced with more devastating equipment. Sub-Audite analysis suggested missiles to be either Nuclear or +Redacted+ based.

Later inspection of alternate downed aircraft revealed missiles to be containing slivers of antimatter, kept still by magnetic fields. Majority of missile structure is armour protecting the antimatter housing, with the tip also containing a variable single direction shield generator.

This level of security would suggest that any hits that breached the missile while it was on the aircraft would detonate it and the rest of the payload.

Are these cookies the special ones from Amsterdam......?yes.gif

It isn't that much of a stretch, given most were my incomplete vows so i'd worked a fair bit on them. The Deredeo is practically done, the Apothecaries are mostly done. The Contemptor will be the pain in the backside, given I'll articulate the joints..... Most of the Veterans were batch painted pink with the 5 tacticals, who are now practically done! I'll get some pics up soon.

My current issue is making the MKIV plastics look interesting as they are really rather 'samey' looking.

@ Eidolon: You mean like a Stroopwafel? Indeed it is.

@ Lionofjudah: Ha! Dinsey parks are like Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam: total tourist traps. You stand in line way too long, pay way too much, and then experience nothing.

The hobby butterflying continues!

I have actually practically finished 3 out of the 5 new Tactical marines I posted about earlier. I think I might make the need 5 MK2's just for a change! I am planning on the 'newer' marks and equipment being assigned to those more loyal to Fulgrim with those who would eventually be culled at Istvaan being left with the older stuff, makes for a nice theme!!

Anyhow, here is the first of 3 veterans I made up some time ago, before the loss of furious charge!

Still a little more to do, with the golds and whites, before adding decals. What's the thoughts on the lilac plume?! I'm not sure, but the Mrs suggested it, so I gave it a go!! I am thinking turquoise might be better.....
