Soldier of Dorn

He looks great, but I think the lilac plume doesn't contrast well enough with the rest of the miniature. Turquoise might indeed be a better option.

Also: furious charge for Emperor's Children? Isn't that more of a World Eaters thing? :p

Looking sweet Eidolon! Purple white and gold are on point, with a really nice contrast between them. Especially liking the gold on the chest. Though I'd echo Augustus, not quite sure about the lilac, unless it was a lot more accentuated. Maybe a lilac and other colour plume?

For this, the last month, I vow a Fire Raptor (hellstrike missiles and reaper autocannons) and two Jetbike squads (Acid shells, Sgt with power weapon/calabanite war blade and rad nades) for a total of 590pts.

Well, I always looked at is 'sublimely skilful sword master style charge' but what do I know!! I really just build most of my marines with 'rule of cool'

The lilac is just a thin base coat, so there is no contrast, but I am hearing both of you here, it was my gut reaction on seeing it; funnily enough I've had other people love it!! So we 50/50 still, I might hit it with a shade and see....

I really did consider doing the striped plume, but my sanity and chances of achieving the vow won't like that! Haha - not that the vets are officially a vow!!rolleyesclean.gif Hopefully I'll get some painting time later on to reassess!!

Also, what happened to the Night Lords Aeternas? I recall the DA Contemptor appearing but did I miss the switcheroo of legions? I tend to read the thread on the train into work, must have had coffee that day......

Looking forward to seeing what ya decide to do with it. Just seems a bit block like right now. Shades/highlights might change my outlook on it :)

I'm still doing traitors :P (I kid). With the Night Lords I just kinda lost steam for them. Had been doing them for nigh on year and a half, and just felt like I wasn't really getting anywhere with the army. Part of that might be down to the base choice, but I decided to see whether switching out legions for a bit would help.

There wasn't really an official switcheroo I'll admit, beyond a "so now I'm doing DA". Right now they just feel a bit more fun to do, and also give me a fair few opportunities I didn't have with the VIIIth. Hopefully one day I'll finish both up and be able to recreate Thramas ;)

Finished with the terminators.

More pics here in my WIP.

Lemme see if I'll make another vow for this final month. Feels like I could make it. :D

Stellar work on those bad boys, I think you've just convinced me to do my Cataphractii with claws when I re-do them!!

I think you should certainly sneak in a cheeky vow!!

Here are the 5 tacticals that formed the first part of the 10 man squad, I've got them up with the other 10 marines I did back in October! I personally think I've really improved my painting since then!! I will do another 5 MK IVs but that might be later on; I find the Calth marines a little dull quite frankly, so will wait to get other legs. I will do a MKIV vexalla and the rest in MKII to make up the 10!

They do look pretty funky when all together!! I really need to get a better lamp for the pics, as it doesn't do the colour justice!!

Here's the next batch, just primed them tonight!

I have also finished an Assault Veteran and Veteran

http://i64.tinypic.com/2ur44dg.jpg

I need to either copy Eidolon's head lots, or find alternate ones, I was thinking some Raptor heads with a little surgery to de-chaosify..... I won't get too many more of the Assault guys finished, unless you accept headless vows..... I utilised Eidolons head, after chatting with Iron Hands Fanatic about the Seraph Strike squad; they weren't that far removed from my own ideas on the EC Vanguard Veterans!

I might sneak the tactical veterans through though, you never know!! I've another 2 almost done, but boy do they take time!!

Alright, frack it.

I, Augustus b'Raass, vow on the honour of Dorn, the Emprah and mostly just for :cusss and giggles, to paint yet another unit, namely a three-man Centurion Devastators with Grav Cannons, Grav Amps, Hurricane Bolters, and an Omniscope (250 points), a Codicier (Level 2 Librarian, 90 points), and a Lexicanum (Level 1 Librarian, 65 points) for a total of 395 points. Failure will have no conseqences whatsoever, because this event has no moderator and there probably won't be completion banners, let alone those for failures! cool.png facepalm.png

^^ Sad but/and Untrue, because Brother SP has generously offered to make banners (and medallions?) for us! YAY!

I completed the Centurions. More pics here in my WiP thread, including individual pics of the models, from different angles.

On to the Librarians

Fantastic work Augustus as always but where did you find that plastic librarian? Is he OOP?

Mitsman

If I'm not mistaken, that's Jensen Natorian from the Deathwatch Overkill box game. Plenty of those floating around on E of the Bay.

It will always remain a mystery to me how Augustus manages to increase both the speed of the painting, and the quality of it, at such rates. The Cents are looking superb, especially for such a quick unit. Looking forward to the libbies, and from there a group shot!

The Terminators are awesome as well, but for some reason I'm just not convinced by them as much as I am the Cents. Something about how much yellow/gold/brown there is compared to the black. My personal opinion, at least. Still good though!

Eidolon: Purple's coming out lovely on the tac squad! Also really like the Assault veteran, the plume is a good colour to compliment everything else.

Now have 4 of the 6 bikes put together and based, gonna start properly painting tomorrow. The half painted one is unfortunately not part of them.

From those Frater who remain, I would seek names for the (6) Jetbikes! Four will be of Terran descent, 2 from Caliban. In regards to who's whom, positions are based on the group shot above if they have a model. If not, any ideas for personality or customisations are welcome!

And yes, that second F is intentional. This is also one of the rare occasions where quoting a picture, outside of hidden brackets, to comment on it is actually meaningful. yes.gif

I'm back!! 9 days on the road, a dear friend I've not seen in15 years came through town and stayed 2 nights, then my wife's hanaukkah gift (family portrait by local amazing artist) arrived late last night, dogs been coughing, oldest boy asked a girl out to the movies and I got 30 minutes this morning to begin assembling my DDP.

This baby has spent more time in hot water than I have;)

Well, I am thinking a Calabanite could be 'Sar' Ethelred Roth, quite knightly if not a little Saxon....

Loving the jet bikes - so much so, I've started a few on my own thread!!

UPDATE!!

Iam still plugging away, Failed to get anything done over the last few weeks as I was moving house. But back at work now, and getting an hour or so in a night again.

Nice work on the dread, good to see you back!!

You really are a painting machine! Nice work on the Centurions! They almost look good! It's the models, honest guv! I did see a guy convert the legs to make them look a little less waddly! I just think the legs look too bulky!

Anyways, here is a few WIPs

I decided the Deredeo wasn't pink enough, so re-hightled the high lights with white then pink glazes, I am finally happy with it! Had to paint the transfer gold again, but that actually looks better!

I also just love MK2s, so shall be having a full squad of them, with a smattering of MK3 in, possibly as the heavy/special weapons. I'll be able to use them as vets or regular tacs as appropriate. I'll keep my basic legion tacs all in Mk4.

Squad Sergeant (Centre) -

If the sergeant isn't already taken, I'd love to name him. Not because of his rank, but because I don't like beekees and Olis already has the other non-beekee guy. He'll be a Calibanite and his name shall be Sar Tanar Ennugiel - after the Babylonian minor deity Ennugi, the attendant and throne-bearer of Enlil. He's a former attendant to his monastery's Librarian. His dedication to his duties and the honour of his Monastery led to his being noticed by the Dark Angels. He has developed into a be fine officer-of-the-line, where his superiors believe his qualities are best used.

.... And I am back.  Although I must admit I haven't got anything done over the last few days, much to my own disappointment.  As it stands I have already completed two of my termies but by now I hoped to have all five done.  I shall get Before and WIP shots up soon but I am still here.  So, at the moment we seem to have six active people left:

Myself

Aeternus

Lion of Judah

Ulveron

Augustus

Eidolon

Have I missed anyone?

Woot!!! 7 of 20.... hmmm... luckily we have given all for our frater and casualties are to be expected...sadly our captain on this mission was lost but we persevere.

I may not finish my entire pledge brothers and there have been alterations to my pledge but I feel confident in my abilities to finish this fetching DDP.

I may not have BCKs patience and attention to detail but the warbled plates of this hallowed vessel shall be somewhat straighter before I put paint in my airbrush... and I am excited to say that I sold my RoB board and invested in a Badger Renegade Krome for finer work than my olde Paasche seems comfy with.

Frater- brother SP, rangaman, aeternas, Augustus, ulveron, Eidolon would y'all be interested in keeping our mutual mojo going in group together by keeping this thread alive?

With Captain Sempers RL keeping ETL from coming on track this year (sending love to his mother and family) I would enjoy continuing this project with y'all.
