Yeah that was a real pain in the gene seed. I wanted to take terminators, but that dreadstodes with the spear was too cool to pass up, especially since it has a working model already.

It's going to be compounded when we find out that the Heavy dread is super cool awesome sauce, and it competes with something else we want. Like seriously, it's so hard to take Custardes when they have all the cool new shiny gold plated stuff.

:D

Yes, the dreadnoughts are too pretty not to use, and I am hopeful it will have solid rules so the spammy lists I'm seeing in this thread don't become the norm! Variety is the spice of life, especially for armies rocking 20-30 models at 2500 points!

Could the super-dread be a LOW?

Maybe...it would certainly be the smallest low in the game currently.

In guessing he's more like a leviathan.

Probs 350 ish points? His gun just looks like an arachanus weapon of some type.

I mean, the one weapon we saw that wasnt a fist for the thing was a seemingly dual-barreled gatling las/blaze weapon of some kind and a Missile launcher that shoots Emperor-Knows-What. Even the on-hand weapon looks funky to me.

Although it might look intimidating in the eyes of mere mortals it's design aesthetics are screwed. Who in their right mind would add up embellished armor plates with filigree details to a war machine?

Omnissiah doesn't approve that kind of pestering of machines.

You do realise this is the hyper-silliness of the 31st Millenium right? A war machine without filigree would just look weird :P

It would never happen in the ranks of Iron Tenth. Even our traitor cousins Iron Warriors wouldn't approve tinkering with machines if it doesn't add any functionality to them.

What I am saying is that the Custodes are on a way to heresy as vanity is their first step on that journey. Just think about what happened to Emperor's Children.

Do not question the armory of the custodes, for its designs are directly influenced by the Emperor of Mankind! Just as how he has decreed that the existence of gold renders all other colours inferior, so too is ornate filigree an integral part of His image. T'is all 'bout the branding!

Yeah. It's about sending a message. Being attacked by a Legion Dreadnought is one thing,it could be loyal,a Traitor or just rogue.

If you are being attacked by a Custodian Dreadnought, you know you've gone and p***ed the Emperor off.

I am liking the concept of the Dreadnought heavy list.

3x Elite Dread and 3x Heavy support dread with points left on troops and/or jetbikes.

Also a minimum investment in terms of painting and money, comparatively. 6 Dreads is a lot easier than massed vehicles/infantry.

It's shiny Guccimite armor blinds the eyes of the peasants and makes them take morale tests because of feelings of inadequacy and how crappy their job is and pays.

WITNESS MY BEAUTIFUL GOLDEN BANANANESS TRAITOR FILTH!!!!

Did some math on the Caladius, namely Iliastus vs 420 blaze it. The Iliastus actually has the same odds of getting a pen on AV14/15, and it's better vs any other target that isn't specifically T4 multiple wounds with a 3+ or worse armour save, or T5 with 3 or more wounds.

All in all, don't go for the Arachnus if you want efficiency.

Or want the extra 12" range (useful if you're playing hammer and avil) or the extra shot against infantry.

Plus Blaze cannons look way cooler :tongue.:

Not only might, it certainly will. Same goes vs skimmers, so if you expect other custodes it's even less of a competition.

And the 12" extra range isn't of much impootance on a standard table, but yes, it could come into play. And the extra shot is so situational, I mean, marines still die to just about everything in our army list. Anyhow I don't think it's worth 25 points. :P

Not just Flyers but both ground and jet bikes. There are a number of lists out there with them.

The stock cannon actually just eats Jetbikes kills just shy of 3 in a shot.
Unless it's Custodes Best Bikes.Sorry, I mean jet bikes.

Right it would likely only kill 1 with the 5+ invul and 2 wounds.

The best way to kill custodes Jetbikes is actually just throwing adrathic custodes at them. Because realistically trying to whittle them down is the same as trying to shoot a primarch to death.
