That Tyberos is nothing short of breathtaking, mate! Whatever (tiny) reservations I might have had about your choice of head completely crumble in the face of the utterly fantastic paintjob -- what a beautiful monster! :)

There are so many great touches about the model, but what's really chilling is the colour of those jet black eye lenses -- did you use any gloss varnish on them?

The models also look fantastic as an ensemble, by the way! Incredible work all around! :)

Been lurking around your thread for a good long while now and I must say, astounding.

In my opinion, too many times people just seem interested in technique when in fact artistic vision produces the best results.

You combine both effortlessly and I must admit I am (more than) a little jealous.

How do you find the balance of colors and effects your models display, does it just come to you or do you put a bit of study into it as well? If so, do you have any tips & tricks to share?

Lovely models all around, though tyberos' sense of motion and aggression are certainly your high point thus far.

Also, great fade on the lightning claws, but that might just be my fetishism for blue speaking...

Cheers,

Yves

AWESOME.

Dat Tyberos doe!!

Love the use of the Red Butchers fist for that!

Absolutely phenomenal Tyberos conversion, really conveys a sense of predatory motion and savagery!

Oh.....oh my, that's simply amazing

Tyberos looks amazing. A very nice paintjob.

Ye gods

superb. I now want to read a book about the space sharks and space wolves tearing up chaos and xenos.

the space shark wolf

Tyberos is looking stunning and stands out brilliantly with his buddies yet together the whole bunch together is amazing. Truly an inspiration.

Great work!

Wow you certainly came back full force, that Tyberos looks breathtaking! Stellar freehand and weathering as usual as well as a great smattering of blood!

Saw those on instagram first knew you'd post more pictures here, great stuff!

Many thanks to all you guys !! :D really happy to see that my Tyberos seems to be appreciated ;)

It make me wanna do always more and more sharks !

Thanks man !! Nice if you like the head, I was worry of it being a little to casual so I've order the original head but... Now I think I'm gonna keep this one anyway ^^

For the eyes I usualy use black ink over a black base but this time I've try to use games workshop Nuln oil gloss over a black base. I just made a white dot on the edges of each eye. (varnish over a black base is doing well too, but the ink kind of give an even darker effect that I like )

Thanks a lot for your comment Yves !

I've never think of it this way but I'm more a "go ahead" type of painter ^^ I try first and think latter. For the colors and effects I work largely on feeling. I put the base and let the idea go while I put each colors. I never have any idea of where I'm going when I first put my brush on a model. Just like for the tattoo I don't think of theme before doing theme. I'm really not a reference of painting therms, theory and all because I learn as it comes and maybe all I'm gonna tell is bulsh..."nurgle food" but I do have some basic tricks that I use on a lot of my models and that seems to work for me.

I had a lot of difficulty on balance at first using to much colours and too much effects at the wrong places. Now I focus one "First" colours. After that I took the complementary colours. (example : Red for Green as First colour)

In the case of taking black, white or grey as First colour I can take up to two complementary colorus.

For example my carcharodons are grey with Red/orange and Turquoise (I love turquoise  "fetishism for blue speaking..." I get it man) you'll not see others colours on my sharks. But I can play with shades. (battle damage are red+black, markings are bone white etc..)...OK maybe a bit of green on some characters but you see what I mean ^^ green is still a complementary of the red and go well with turquoise and orange so...

But the trick is

1) to make ether a kind of triangle/square in the centre of the model with the complementary/flashy colours

or 2) to place a complementary/flashy colours between two other at both side of the head of the model :

1)

2)

This way provide focus points on the model as well as better readability, when the harmony is achieve with a small color palette.

Well I beg all the great theoretician codex painters out here to not be to harsh with those explanations I give on how I brush-paint my model so far, I've still a lot to learn myself before explaining to other (in OrkEnglish)  I know but it's the best answer I can make for now ^^.

Anyway I hope it will be understandable and useful to some of you ;)

Thank you very, very much, Malchy!

That's exactly what I was looking for, the whole thought process behind it. You have certainly opened up a whole new point of view on painting for me.

Next mini I paint, I'll try your approach.

Thanks again and keep up the gorgeous quality.

Cheers,

Yves

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Superb work on Tyberios - absolutely stunning.

Your breakdown of palette and spot colour usage is also very helpful. Thanks for that contribution to the community :D :tu:

It's very remiss of me taking so long to point out how utterly awesome your painting and modelling is. I saw the title and thought Meh, it's just a stock mini that I'm not keen on painted incredibly well, but the conversion work on Tyberios is first class, he looks like he would decimate everything in his path!

I'm gutted I'm late to the party praising Corax, I love that scheme, the cool white against the black works incredibly well! I much prefer it to the official scheme!!

Thank you very, very much, Malchy!
