Codex: Imperial Agents

Jacobus was a 2nd Ed character who vanished up until 5th Ed's mini-dex came out.

So looking at the BoLS article the core of Acts of Faith and Shield of Faith has not changed. Which means the formation likely just gives. Bonus to SoF at most.

It really comes down to if the individual units have seen changes or not in their points cost and Acts of Faith abilities if it's worth getting this book to play Sisters with.

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to wait to buy this until I can get real information about what's actually in the book.

There's no reason for me to spend $40 on a book that is just the e-codex minus Celestine, and even if it has a formation in it, I'm not sure I want to buy it just for one or two formations, especially with all the rumors of 8th edition we've had.

"GW has removed characters before"

I'm not sure that any faction has lost more characters than Sisters (some probably have tongue.png)

(In the order their disappearance)

Cardinal Armandus Helfire

Saint Praxedes of Ophelia VII

Helena the Virtuous, Prioress of the Convent Sanctorum

Redemptor Kyrinov, Arch-Confessor

Saint Celestine, Hieromartyr of the Paliatine Crusade (maybe)

Dark Eldar:

Asdrubeal Vect

Lady Malys

Kruellagh the Vile

the Decapitator

Baron Sathonyx

Duke Sliscus

Makes 6.

GW does alot of purging and cleansing themselves

I'm not pessimistic. From the screenshots on BoLS this codex will have everything needed to field an army. The proof will be in the details, especially as this is not supposed to be a cut and paste of the last codex. I need to see how everything has fallen out but I am optimistic and have reserved a copy at my FLGS.

BoLS has a couple of photos of the book including the contents and the sections describing acts of faith and shield of faith.

Looks like AoF and SoF are basically the same, al'la not that special or useful in the current meta. Those should have been bumped up.

Well, or a points cut across the board. A Celestian is not worth the same number of points as a Tactical Marine.

Huh. So Celestine is going away for a little bit then?

A shame really but if she comes back in a new codex or with rules-in-box with a new kit later I can accept it.

Only reason to feel upset right now is that it's still not paired with plastic Sisters.

I wonder if our new model is FW resin or Finecast resin. Because if it's FW I can accept resin Sisters if we don't get plastic as long as the sculpts match up to the level of the new Canonness or exceed it.

Obviously GW has finally caught on to all the talk and complaints about the lack of updates for the Sisters' Codex and has decided to compensate by giving us two in short order (hopefully!).

I have faith that the Jan/Feb rumors are true.

If they aren't true, this was an absolute punch to the face of Sisters players.

Models perhaps, codex not so much. It'd be pretty retarded of them to release C:IA like this now as the AS main codex and then a new AS codex a month or two after.

Well they could keep CIA valid upon the arrival of our new specific dex. Those who are inquisition fans in the larger sense can build whatever they want a la witch hunters codex, and then there is the much more comprehensive , richer codex for us with many special characters and units, rules, etc..that you don't get through CIA.

Which would go down as you can field minimal SoB forces together with other toys in CIA, or you can fully commit to the bestest of the protectors of the faith and plunge into the real deal with the new dex.

Commercially, it'd be interesting too, as you'd not only get core SoB players, but also those CIA owners who have acquire a soft spot for the nuns while fielding them in CIA or reading about them :)

And you'd have those who would have the both together, to field some specific extra tools and Moar Sistaz :)

This is basically the Witch Hunters codex and that's the way to view it I reckon. When the updated range comes it won't be anything new - that will need to wait until the next codex whenever that may be. I'd wager not too soon, but is that a bad thing as we've just bought this one?

Who's to say Celestine can't come back in another way like a campaign book or similar? Or even a return of something like Chapter Approved...

It sucks that Celestine has been removed from the SoB army list but like others have said, she will most likely come back later on with a new sculpt.

I personally cannot believe that plastic SoB would be released next year considering C:IA and the re-release of SoB models. I like to proven wrong though :P

I would like to add that I had no idea SoB were getting a new army list and having their model range re-released. I literally only found out two days ago. I was so damn happy to see the Immolater back!!!!! Not thrilled about the price hike but I thought I would never get a chance to add one into my army. I bought 4 straight away! Give me that Immolater crack!!!!

Now I just need FW to bring back the Repressor. :)

I just noted something; over on BoLS they have a shot of the table of contents, and judging from the placement of units in the book, Repentia are now a Troop choice?!?

wat?

That flies in the face of the fluff, but when has GW cared about that.

I never understood why we never had access to landraiders or valkeries before, nor some of these character purges. Come on, the entire universe is at war, that is their whole theme. There are going to be some characters.

We actually had acces to them before (both) Landraider through codex Witchhunters and the Valkerie through Imperial armour vol 2 Forces of the Adeptus astartes & Inquisition (thats the original IA vol 2 btw).

And Repentia as troops choice? Thats not actually a bad idea, they are after all punishing themselves and that means they also take a lower rank, the troops section does have the lower ranks after all.

Fluff-wise the landraiders have always had that 'last command of the Emperor on the subject was dedicating them to the astartes' thing going for them.

Rules-wise, in codex WH they could only be taken as a dedicated transport for inquisitors with retinues. The valykrie was a dedicated transport for retinues and also Inquisitorial Storm Troopers (essentially scions in valkyries in modern terms).

The sisters themselves never had either, though they have on occasion gained access to Arvus Lighters and Aquila Landers.

So the basic Nun with Gun squad is entirely unchanged. Same Act of Faith (got to love the ability to maybe get a universal special rule for one phase that other armies tend to bring automatically all game) and still 12 points each.

But it's ok if we take our own slightly modded CAD we can drop ObSec and instead have a once per game ability to re-roll 1s on our armour saves for a turn.
