I wonder now that the White scars are present within the sol system, maybe they will team up with the Imperial fists and the mechcanicum to take back Mars?

My heresy history is a bit rusty how was Mars taken back to begin with, was it before or after the battle for Terra?

I didnt think the ruinstorm ending was going to be how the Angels got to terra, but the pharos or whatever? Maybe I missed a book.

If the ruinstorm ending gets them there, then Rob should have been there too, and we know he isnt going to make it.

Have you read....well...Pharos?

Legs is referring to Unremembered Empire when 10 Alpha Legion assassains pose as Thiel+friends and get the drop on an unarmed, unarmored Guilliman

And before that in 'Know No Fear' Guilliman is psi-slapped around and brought to his knees by Kor Phaeron. But when the latter has him on the ground and the opportunity to kill a primarchs with his cursed blade he hesitates. Kor Phaeron figures that it might be much more of a triumpth to turn Guilliman instead of killing him, and starts to try to talk him into it. That gives Guilliman the opportunity to come back and take him out.

Then in 'Betrayer' Guilliman wasn't really doing too well fighting against Lorgar. Eventualls Angron joins in, and I am not complaining that Guilliman loses against him, but before that it was a pretty even fight against Lorgar. Lorgar.

Then we come to 'Unremembered Empire', where Guilliman is hospitalized by a squad of Alpha Legionnaries, while Curze in a mirrored encounter effortlessly dispatches a squad of Space Wolves. Guilliman was unarmed and unarmoured, but somehow that is not much of a relief, after his portrayed performance in the earlier mentioned books.

And honestly I'm not sure why Legatus thinks that his chosen legion (Ultramarines apparently) are treated poorly (especially when compared to the Wolves or Raven Guard).

I would love go and list all the slights against the Ultramarines corresponding to the list of hypothetical Space Wolves slights I had proposed earlier, but that would absolutely derail this thread and get it closed. Suffice it to say they were treated extremely poorly in 'Know No Fear', 'Betrayer' and the 'Imperium Secundus' plot in general, and then the Forgeworld treatment in their 5th Horus Heresy volume 'Tempest' was absolutely atrocious. (Though the Space Wolves have not had their FW treatment yet, so that might be disappointing as well.)

But as I said earlier, perhaps the loyalists in general are up to this point fare poorly on purpose, to then make a glorious comeback at the end of the series (though that wouldn't explain the poor FW treatment). There is still the hope that some "awesome moment" for the Ultramarines is coming up as the series continues.

1) Never thought I would say this - but I would defend Abnett Buirlliman and Curze from UE here. Guilliman was in closed space with 10 AL (highly trained headhunter unit) - without weapons, greatly powered armor and shocked/ambushed. Curze in UE WAS in ambush for SW. His topic skill - strike from darkness, then Guilliman fights in open.  That's

White Scars now could help to try to retake Mars. They would fail - cause Mars would be freed only during the Scouring, after the Siege of Terra.

Thats a shame, im a huge fan of the Mechanicum and with the upcoming release of 'The Binary Succession' i was hoping for some more Mars related material. ADB does cover the constant need the loyalist mechanicum faction have to retake Mars to the point they will do anything.

In terms of what the other two novels will be if its not mechanicum related then I would probably say the battle for Beta Garmon and the fall of the Death Guard.

Though an anthology for Tallern would not be unwelcome msn-wink.gif

I am also thinking the battle of Yarant (wolf cull) will be a special edition novella by Graham McNeil as he has finished all of his other works now. And like someone said previously he did plant the story in Vengeful Spirit.

We could predict now that the battle for Beta Garmon and the fall of the Death Guard and Wolf Cull are now almost a fact. Simply wait

No, was it good? If so I'll grab it today. :]

EDIT: Reviews seem to indicate it is decent, I'll pick it up today.

IMO Pharos is an awesome book. I think this book was his first full length entry in the HH series. I think he hit it out of the park with this one. After KNF, Betrayer and First Heretic this is my next favorite book that I have read over more than a few times. You won't regret it!

Well ...

Pharos broke, yo. Thank Curze for that. They have to find another way through the Ruinstorm...

Curze has nothing to do with that. His 'sons' on the other hand...

Awesome is too rich for it. It is good, but awesome is for Path of Heaven, Praetorian of Dorn, Betrayer, Purge etc. Sometimes Pharos is too unreal - like at one point then 1 character (not a Primarch or first captain) singlehandedly destroy squads of Night Lords. Plus Haley Night Lords are the worst ever. Too Cartoonish, especially Krukesh, and too unreal
