Scribe
It's important to note that Russ's armpour only affects models (not units) in base contact. So anybody who's merely within 2" of the pot chump who is in bob contact can strike with impunity. A canny player will be able to circumvent his armour with careful placement Magnus on the other hand has a 5/6 chance to land invisibility, which makes him literally untouchable. He casts on a 3+ and will always have more power dice than his opponent. And costs how much with a 25% LoW limit again? There is no cost justification for something that cannot be killed without the express presence of SoS. Plus he's what, 40 points over Russ? Not that much. Especially if you're like me and want to run Russ' Wolfkin. Sure there is, he's the Psyker Primarch, and if Invis isnt changed by the time the Emperor gets here, expect it on Him too. If you are playing in a no hold's bared tournament, bring SoS, if not, hope your opponents are not dicks. Thats how I've approached 30K and 40K for years. Especially if you're like me and want to run Russ' Wolfkin. The real joke is comparing Magnus to other primarchs with similar abilities. He is 45 points more than Lorgar Transfigured. He has higher stats, more wounds, better abilities, 2 more mastery levels, and generally does everything Lorgar does but better. That is not a 45 point different - it should be closer to 145 points difference. This book does not seem to use the same points the previous books used. jacqualine47
Magnus to Lorgar: "Get on my level, noob!" Which is fine and good - but Magnus should be a LOT more points (or everything else should be a lot less points). This is not how balance works. Slips
I think the reason he's only 495 is because they don't want a Primarch more expensive than 1) Horus 2) 500 points. Blindhamster
Maybe they should have just not included the -1 to hit rule on him. Then his abilities should reflect that he is worth 495, not discount him from what he actually should cost so people can include him at 2k. Maybe they should have just not included the -1 to hit rule on him. Small thing but removing that fixes the biggest concern people seem to have. or just say it doesn't stack with invisibility. Urriak Urruk
The models all look stunning... except the TS marines carrying a khopesh in both hands. Corswain
I think it would be crazy to assume that FW aren't looking ahead. Yes, Magnus is overpowered...for now. When 8th edition rolls around (and all rumours are pointing to soon) then I would expect a psychic overhaul, which will hopefully bring Magnus into balance. Or it won't and our little toy soldiers rules won't be perfect. Right, negativity over. Early guess: Sanguinus preview today. I know Simon Egan has been excited to do him since they started doing the Heresy. Fang_Guard23
Wolves and 1kSons just break up the NL, AL, RG triforce of Alpha strike and cover saves, but seem pretty weak against any of the more traditional Legion lists, Mech, and SA lists. I'm actually very concerned about in game viability. Also Wolves don't have counter attack its conditional on having already won a round of combat, after charging or being charged. No, they have counter attack. no only do they have counter-attack, they will also have counter-charge Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/330574-heresy-weekender-news-and-discussion/page/7/#findComment-4645344 Share on other sites

1ncarnadine
Alright so I have to ask because I know someone had to do it.....What's the word on the content for the next book? Lol "You'll find out tomorrow!" is the line I've been given here a fair few times now Anyway, I'm going to unload a couple thoughts here before I forget them. I'm generally a pretty good note taker but there were only a few things I did actually write down yesterday, and these are things from random conversations where I didn't have time or questions asked at seminars after I put away my notepad. 1) Someone asked at the 1st new models seminar if there would be combat shield sets, and the answer seems to be yes. Definitely being worked on. Alan joked "or you could get one per assault squad set!" so they know and understand that a resin upgrade would be in high demand. Cool. 2) Talked to Tony briefly yesterday and mentioned two things: Character Series seeming to have tapered off significantly, for one. He acknowledged that and said they are hoping to get back into the swing of that sooner rather than later, but there was a lot to do with Inferno. Second, I asked about resin Questoris Knight leg upgrades to address Knight model mono-pose and maybe shift more Questoris kits (and Knight head upgrades) and he said that it is something they've considered and may very well do. So to anyone like me who's been cutting and reposing those, it's a possibility that's on the table. 3) Talked to Darren Parrwood for a very long time, about possible new Knights and where they fit in the range. After the Porphyrion got huge, he still really wants to do a smaller Knight chassis to make the Questoris Knight not the smallest Knight in the range. He's mostly doing sketches in spare time and isn't on this kind of project yet, but he's considering the idea of a smaller Knight that just has one large weapon. Also looking at Subjugator-prequel Knights (before they go to Slaanesh or Chaos or whatever), although he's having a hard time justifying where they "fit." Basically, the chassis has to make sense as something that would be made, that fills a niche that another Knight doesn't do better already. Looking to be highly mobile ranged fire support, most likely. I think the pictures of his sketches of both of these are around, but if not I can snap shots tomorrow. I may do so just for myself anyway, they're amazing. 1ncarnadine
^Dang, yeah. That is a great shot of it. I was sitting too far back to get a good look at it. It was described as something the Custodes employ when they really need to break a hard target. Due to the nature of the Custodes, they want to do that as swiftly as possible and then be done with it, so this thing should be pretty brutal when it arrives. They also said the model has just been done and may be brought in today by its designer, assembled and posed? So, that's something to possibly look forward to. I really want to see this thing with a sense of movement!
