But... but... dident this just make power weapons on our Initiates and swordbrothers pointless? For 3 attacks on the charge (1A + charge + pistol) they will now get 1 attack only with the power weapon... And the swordbrother will get the amazing number of 2.. A bit better change to hit, then normaly, but still! And ontop of that, did the landraider not get anything for its assault ramp...

Feels like its still a game of shooting, but maybe Im wrong. I hope so.

No one has assault vehicles anymore just like SM can do an all drop list, this is a game balance element.

Please correct my math but I think 2 basic chainsword attacks vs MEQ is 22% to kill the model.  One power sword attack to kill a model is 27% chance to kill a MEQ.

To hit is 66% to wound 50%

Power armor reduces that value by 66% and then double it for the 2 attacks?

Power sword changes the 66% save of power armor to 16% worth of protection.

Hrnmgghmf. I nod off for a day or two and this thread turns into a roller coaster of mood swings. The whole God thing came up and turned my vision red, then everything sharply transitioned to giddy gleeful gumdrops over rules.

So skipping over my fluff-rage aneurysm and getting to the rules, this all looks good. I'm not super thrilled about putting all three characters together as a dream team simply because the point cost of it would negate the benefit (unless there's some super 8th edition discount nonsense I don't know of). I'm glad I was right about the armaments of LRC coming built in rather than purchased, but then my being glad about being right is like being glad about blinking. msn-wink.gif

I'm not clear on PotMS though. It says heavy weapons in particular, so does that affect our Hurricanes, or are they unaffected by vehicle movement regardless? And oh the evil little moments those Frag Launchers will bring! I wonder if they're the same on Ironclads.

I'll be digging through the fluff with a fine toothed nit-picker later, but for now I'm just gonna bask in the good news. A lack of Chapter Tactics does suck some of the character out of taking a specific Chapter, seeing as you actually have to take the characters for the army to have character...which I guess is apt? teehee.gif

But I can wait to be disappointed by those rules later. I am however quite annoyed with the changes to Power Weapons, after how much damned work went into all that purple! And I'm down right pissed about the Dreadnought Pod issue because I never got to giddily drop Ironclads onto the table with explody sound effects through an impish foreboding grin.

And wasn't everyone previously talking about Neophytes getting a 3+ save? Says 4+ on that page.

4+ roll Frag assault launchers cause d3 mortal wounds in cc.EVEN OUR TANK IS A GOD AT CC.

venerable dreadnoughts have ws bs 2 BUT they ignore damage on a 6

ironclads rerolls 1's to hit when dual wielding ccw.

If you hand not noticed yet as I was also super excited this thing too. Please take to note that the drop pods can no longer deliver our dreadnoughts to the battlefield.

I'm not really sure how a CC focus dread will work in new 40k as you will need to slowly make it across the battlefield.

Do marines still get bonus attack for pistol and ccw

Nobody does. Instead you can fire the pistols in CC.

But that will not be untill your 2nd turn in combat, if I understand it, so if your already in combad you can shoot with pistols in your shooting phase.

So where did combant get "more bloody"? I dont see it anywhere...

Yes you can shoot with your pistol if you are already in combat and it is your shooting phase.

There might be rules for the Dread Drop Pod in the Forge World books, haven't seen any leaks from those yet.

This only works for the people and play groups that use FW.  My guess is that GW will most likely be making a new larger drop pod that lets you drop in the bigger models like dreads, primaris models and centurions.  That new dread they preview most likely look silly claiming it would be coming out of a standard drop pod.

Where are the Dreadnought rules themselves?  These Ironclads gotta get finished sooner or later but they might get knocked back in the queue if the snippets I've seen are accurate.

I have a link a number of pages back that has all the SM goodies.

Here ya go

Interesting rules for the ironclad. Since there's no way my local GW will allow Horus Heresy rules, my War Hounds dreadnought breacher talon will have to make do with them. A shame the 'leader' will have to subtract 1 from his to hit rolls.

I'm hoping that, similar to Age of Sigmar, there will be specific upgrade gear available for Astartes specialists, like standards for ancients, relics for chaplains, and doohickey's for apothecaries. This is all on top of standard relics that may be available.

In a similar vein to age of sigmas where you have standards for vexillors, lanterns for lord castellans/azyros

Probably not until Chapter Tactics arrive...

sucks about Dreadnoughts and Drop Pods as I have 6 of those Pods specifically built and painted for Dreadnoughts...

It might have been a balancing for points issue letting them drop in via the same drop pods as everyone else. We may see something in the future, or FW will be the place to go for the drop pod.

That said, 200+ points for dread in drop pods seems rather...heavy. But that's the old meta talking I guess. I still don't know how many points my Sisters now run thanks to all the changes.

I'm still mulling over the points changes in regards to Templars. I still love the idea of Crusaders in Crusaders, but filling the board with bodies looks good too.

I will say shotguns are finally good now. +1S at half range was a great change and makes the Neophyte load outs more interesting choices than Bolter vs Bolter Pistol/CCW.
