Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.
It's been a mighty slow weekend on the modeling front apart from basecoating a few minis, but I did manage to paint the objective markers I printer earlier.
Kind of happy with the marble result for a first try. It was done with white and black spray over a onion bag to create the random pattern. After that I fixed some areas and made the cracks more stronger with black and white glazes. Then it was down to washing it with green washes, doing the gold bits and giving them a nice coat of gloss varnish.

Thanks for looking, cheers!

Now that I have more time to respond... Markus, your Death Guard are so inspiring. It's crazy to see how large this force has gotten considering they're all truescale and custom. That in and of itself is impressive, but to see the little personalization you've given each (especially that Command Squad and Officers).

I'm usually not a fan of the Manreaper being handed out all willy nilly but I love the posing on your Tac Sergeants and your one Officer (what is he?).

Isengrin: Cheers! I can't really stress how much I've enjoyed building the army.
MagicMan: Thanks! I think whoever made them has a great eye for design.
DuskRaider: Cheers, I'm glad to hear it! You are correct though, the Manreaper was given very sparingly as a Legion honour and I try and refrain from using them, or the Deathshroud, in more fluff oriented games.

Happy new year everyone!
I hope to see all your projects in abundance and great motion on this coming hobby year.

I've started my year with finishing the Word Bearers Chaplain and veteran squad apart from a coat of varnish and technical paints, along with working on some other select items.

The veterans. To give them some kind of esoteric symbol of devotion and new order in the Legion I went with Kurtha Sedd's chapter transfer.

Here's a Warmonger / generic Delegatus for the Death Guard. Notice the symbolism on the base, ooh! :ohmy.:

Finally I've started basing my classic Plague Bearers. They are such joyous models!

That's all for now, would love to hear what you think.
Cheers!

Solid work on the Veterans, the Ashen Circle axes work really well and highlight their allegiance, as does the flame trim on the legs. Top work on the faces too, the details and expressions really pop.

Pearson73: Thanks! Doing ten faces in a batch was a fun challenge.
Kolgrim DeathHowl: Thanks!

This weekend I've built some Sisters of Silence straight out of the box as a little breather. That inspired me to do some work on the Knight Centura from some time ago. I'm quite pleased with the sculpting work. I went over how I sculpt the fur in an earlier post here.

Here are the tools I currently use for sculpting. I bought the magnifying goggles as a bit of a joke, but they proved to be extremely helpful. I sometimes get shaky hands so I just take my time with what I'm doing. As for the tools I use the little knifey spooney ended sculpting tool along with a simple box cutter 90% of the time.

That's it for now, C&C always welcome.
Cheers!

Man, your models are never less than spectacular, aren't they? Love the Apostle and Word Bearers squad (especially the squad leader with the power fist). The DG Delegatus is also looking pretty cool -- the inclusion of the 2nd edition CSM boltgun and Plague Marine fist are a nice touch ;)

Really intrigued by that SoS conversion as well! Keep up the fantastic work! :)

Xanthier: Thanks! They're a wonderful piece of Horus Heresy fluff. Your wish shall also be granted.
Kolgrim DeathHowl: Cheers!
KrautScientist: That's very kind, thank you!

I'm pretty much done on the Attack Bike, just need to varnish it and add technical paints and pigments. I'll give a full 360 of it then.

Thanks for looking, C&C always welcome.

I love what you did to the Canoness Veridyan model to convert her into a Sister of Silence. The Word Bearer Veterans and Death Guard Attack Bike look great, too! Keep up the good work. :tu:

Your Word Bearers are top notch, Markus. You've really nailed the color down on those, and the best part is you could use them in 40K as well in many cases. Nice seeing the 2E Plaguebearers as well.

Dosjetka: Thanks!
DuskRaider: Thanks dude. And yeah if I ever felt like doing the ol' switcharoo the Word Bearers will do the job nicely.
Xanthier: Thanks, your wish is now granted.

I had to do some commission work so had no time for minis, but the Attack Bike is all done now. Couldn't really be more happier with how it turned out.
I've got some other really cool stuff cooking, but the models are currently setting from varnishing so that will have to wait. I also finished the basing on Mortarion and the two prime bodyguards, but Mortarion wanted to have a hot date with the linoleum floor so he's out of commission for the time being until I find some spare bits to fix minor dings. Anyway here's the vroom vroom.

Pearson73: Thanks mate. It's been a fun challenge so far.

About that cool thing I was telling about.
When a world needs to die, who you gonna call? Destroyers!

For these models I used Stix 's fantastic Black Armour tutorial found here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359266-how-i-paint-black-armor/

This entailed some techniques I've wanted to try for a while, namely airbrush zenithal highlighting, graphite weathering and enamel washes.

I'm happy with how the radiation cannon turned out, but I got a bit carried away with the airbrush so I had to redo the jump packs after making a mess of them. The packs are magnetised for now, though the more I think about it there's really no point in footslogging these marines should I ever decide to wield them.

The models were rather quick to paint, and the weathering effects are quite subtle and realistic which I like.

Pearson73: Thanks! Decals do wonders with any model.
DuskRaider: Cheers!
noigrim: Since they lack any actual legion symbols I can use them as I please.
KrautScientist: Thanks! It's a lovely bit.

Here's some stuff from the work bench.

Word Bearers Contemptor Mortis is complete apart from pigments. This was a rather quick job. All the armaments are magnetised.

I wanted to work on the recon squad, here's how it's looking at the moment. Minor greenstufff work to do on them still, but I like the look so far.

That's all for now, C&C always welcome. :smile.:

All the extra details and gubbins from the new Primaris kits work well to emphasise the squad's role. Big fan of the poses too, both the double handed pistol grips and the chap with that wickedly serrated blade.
