I thought I had another 10 marines lined up but it turned out I only had 9, which makes my new coterie technically illegal with 2 special weapons... Anyway, here they are, the 21st Coterie of the 9th Host, geared for close assault:

Hi DiscipleoftheWord !

I did'nt check your topic for a while, you've been productive ! I really like the overall atmosphere of your miniature, they really feel as a word bearer should be. Also I love your assassin, the facemask is a very nice touch on him !

And as for the faces, my main advice would be to work with washes and glazes of different colors on specific areas. Purple, blue and red will be of use if you want the skin to have a realistic color. Btw, congrats on your painting eyes skill ;) I'm not able to paint a proper eye myself ^^

I think there is one important thing that you could improve in your work : pictures !

Check below, I just took your pics and played with the light settings a bit (so no hard photoshop at all).

For that I used Microsoft Office Picture Manager, and edited the pics by playing with the "mid-tone" cursor in the light settings, I also added a bit of dark hallo effect to cut down the white background as it was a bit harsh.

Maybe taking picture with a more neutral background could help also, you should try.

There, I feel they are much more "readable" now !

Thanks Sagentus!

I've finally finished my Renegade Knight, I need to come up with a name for him/it before I write some fluff for it, any ideas? Should it be daemonically possessed or not? Either way, here it is:

PSX 20171101 111047

PSX 20171101 111006

PSX 20171101 110939

PSX 20171101 110909

PSX 20171101 110841

I'm particularly pleased with the enormous latros sacrum on the shoulder pad, took me a while to paint. I'll probably paint some more cultists next, I/renegades next, I also have some raptors lined up which are half done already.

Comments and CC much appreciated.

Hi all,

I've finished the raptors but when I try and put the image urls from my gallery into the post everything just freezes and I can't do it. Anyone else having this problem or is it just me? Anyway, as soon as its sorted I'll put the pictures up. I also decided on a name for my knight: Chemosh. I think it sounds quite word bearers-esque, and historically Chemosh was the god of the Moabites, who were enemies of Israel and led a successful rebellion against Israelite domination. I thought this was quite fitting with the story of the Word Bearers themselves (I'm sure the rebellion/Long War will be successful in the end), and I can imagine the cultists worshipping the knight as a literal God, as it is possessed by a powerful daemon of the same name.

Finally got it working, not sure what was going on there. Here are the raptors:

Also, I'm making headway on a renegade Leman Russ, and I followed the Warhammer TV tutorial for painting muzzle burn: (I don't own a airbrush)

As you can see, it doesn't look great. Any ideas on what to do or should I just abandon it?

No love for the raptors :(

Oh well, I've finished the Leman Russ, so here goes:

PSX 20171210 171421

PSX 20171210 171443

PSX 20171210 171509

PSX 20171210 171350

Hopefully this gets a little more love! I'm set on some more cultists/renegades to paint yet, the main challenge is looking through the enormous bucket of half assembled renegades and working out which ones to do!

As ever, comments and CC much appreciated.

Thanks Pearson! The mace comes from the old metal witch-king of angmar (not sure if GW still sell it), which I cannibalised from my old Lord of the Rings army. As for the poor prisoner, that's exactly how I envisioned it as well! I imagine that he is the old commander of the tank unit whose men mutinied against when they fell under the sway of the Word Bearers (too long lying at night looking at the Cicatrix Maledictum and listening to the discords or something like that).

gezabutla - Thanks a lot! This army was hugely inspired by RazakelXIII's army, so that compliment means a lot to me!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been sidetracked more than I would have liked by my other project, some Heresy-era Iron Warriors. Anyway, here are some cultists:
