Sonoftherubric21
Do Possessed still have to roll the number of attacks randomly each time???? Likewise with obliterators how they have to roll the strength and ap each time they shoot????? Possessed attacks are the same they were in the index.. D3 Ya know; Despite this I think they will be overall a great unit. 22 ppm, Str 5, 3+/5++, 2 wounds, base movement 7, mark for either FNP or -1 to hit (or with a changeling on the table 4++ / -1 to hit) toss in any viable Daemon buffs, stack said buffs with any viable chaos lord / casting buffs.....now stack THAT with any viable chaos strategems...... All this means is that once a game or so you may need to re-roll a dice with a CP to make sure your getting more then 1 attack, I hope in the future this is rectified as 1 attack at 22ppm is pitiful but the rest of the statline is fantastic along with their access to buffs cross-faction. 1 Word comes to mind - Savage. Luckily I own 12 Gal Vorbak from Forgeworld...and i shall be making extensive use of the buggers with an exalted or lord. Iron_Within
Yeah that'd be a cool stratagem but alas it's not too be. Afaik you still choose the target after rolling for the gun not before so I'd reckon deep striking for a target rich environment, dropping slaanesh double tap on them (my reading is you'd roll gun and fire then roll gun and fire again) you make a horrible distraction carnifex. 24 reaper autocannon shots at worst is nothing to sniff at. Iron-Daemon Forge
Oblits are the same cost and seems to be the same way you roll as the index and range but it is assault 4 now. The limited range is the killer but they might be doable. The defiler might be a real thing that you see in chaos lists now. With the points reduced to 152 and the reaper now 15 you can add a havoc launcher for a 187 point model. The warpsmith with a 45 base cost plus axe for 5, Melta 17, flamer 9 comes in at a total of 76 is doable now. For me, it got me Deep Strikeing my Obliterators more & having them support my Terminators & Lord in my games. Then once the new codex is out, I've always got the Veteran of the Long war command point to use if & when it really needed :D I've been watching the miniwargamer video & I'm like it all. Does mean I need to re-work my list a little bit for Throne of Skulls which is 100 power levels. Just things like my Helbrute, Vindicator, Lord been brought down a bit which is really cool. balordazul and Azekai 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337245-chaos-codex-release-date-8517/page/22/#findComment-4846551 Share on other sites

So can't wait to see what they get when the Death Guard codex comes around Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337245-chaos-codex-release-date-8517/page/22/#findComment-4846575 Share on other sites

So can't wait to see what they get when the Death Guard codex comes around Honestly random attacks aint so bad...... most of the time its 2 or 3 attacks....make them Khorne Marked for free in any legion that takes them (if applicable) so mine will be Khorne marked some games, and use Blood for the Blood god Strategem (i think that was it) that gives you the rule to swing again........probably could shred a unit really well. Either that or they will be fairly difficult to kill requiring concentrated fire. (all of the Gods offer some form of buff and protection using sorcery barring khorne) So can change between games easily. I personally enjoy the changeling with Possessed, but that would require -1 CP for an aux detachment. (which I will probably end up using) Plaguecaster 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337245-chaos-codex-release-date-8517/page/22/#findComment-4846644 Share on other sites

Panzer
I think Bile is a good addition for Possessed as well. +1 Attack/Strength/Toughness is all great and the mortal wounds you possibly take won't be as bad as on Chosen or such due them having two wounds each. DreamIsCollapsing
I was looking about a great anti-horde unit. Looks like EC Possessed with Herald might do the job : D3 Attack Strenght 6 AP-2 always attack first and possibly Hysterical Frenzy for 2 activation per turn. And if those nids really need to die, Excess of Violence : A Strenght 6 Possessed will kill 0,555 GEQ with one attak /1,111 with two and 1,6666 with 3. If you roll 2 attack and activate that stratagem, each possessed will kill 1,7 GEQ. As for the Aspiring Champ, i think the best way to use it is either with Khorn Berzerker, or with Power sword chosen. Power sword don't add strenght so you will benefit greatly of the reroll to wound. And all those wound are going with great AP. Very true but that is still 2 cp and it is an option depending on how you build your army. Correct me if I'm wrong but are you not limited to one Stratagem per phase? Obits are growing on my as a solid suicide distraction unit. I have 6 predators on order 3 for my BT and 3 for my IW. Unless GW reduces the quality of the kill shot stratagem or the predator I most likely will be spending my CP on that unit during the shooting phase. Endless Cacophony is great but as a positive thing it is not an auto as we do have good choices to compete with it. Oblits are the same cost and seems to be the same way you roll as the index and range but it is assault 4 now. The limited range is the killer but they might be doable. Yes the miniwargamer FREE video was good. They need to balance their audio levels. I'm seeing my oblits as with my IW now not a support unit when they have all the different weapons but a deep strike distraction unit to flank with my IW gun line. This get the ignore cover so that is nice when it comes into play. Yes the point reductions are very nice and does that put the Lord of Skulls on pair with a knight now? Oh don't for get about the defiler has the base points down to 152 I think. Whilst you're definitely onto something amazing, Possessed do not strike me as an all round great anti-horde unit. But they're damn nasty, for me Excess of Violence, Hysterical Frenzy, and DtFE stack beuatifully against Imperial units. 2xD3 attacks each is good at an average of 4 attacks but too random to take out blobs that ignore moral, I can't see it generating enough wounds unless you throw loads of them at the enemy, which is an option I suppose!? Things like butcher cannon array Leviathans with the Fire Frenzy stratagem are loads better at clearing hordes off the battlefield, be it cultists, gaunts, stealers or conscripts. Even Noise Marines with Endless Cacophony can do a lot of damage. As above, the Slaanesh angle looks super good. Possessed with Alpha Legion Forward Operatives look good seing as they're going to get into combat quickly. As do Night Lords Nurgle (Midnight Clad stacks with Miasma of Pestilence afaik) to get a -2 to hit them (I love the fluffy angle of this the most). Like most things hit them with Prescience and Vets of the Long War and they start to get really good. I haven't figured how I'll use them yet but have been thinking about 5 of them with MoN in a Rhino together with either 5 melee Plague Marines or 5 Plasma Chosen, the two units can tag-team stuff nicely. Vets of the Long War just seems so good. You can wound T7 on a 2+ and T8 on a 3+ with overcharged plasma. DreamIsCollapsing
Care with thise Fire Frenzy Rules. Wording says it's work on Hellbrute, not on unit with the Hellbrute keyworld. Sception
unfortunately, keywords are written with a different typeface to distinguish them from units. Dallas Drake
Well that sucks. I'm shocked that there is a unit name typeface, and a keyword typeface without any mention of it in the rules; seriously GW? Not everyone has hours a week to analyse this stuff. Well I hope that it's FAQ'd and made clear... I thought these rules were supposed to be streamlined? On another note: do we think Death Guard Possessed (and other units like Predators or Spawn) will get Disgustngly Resiliant? I kind of like this distinction; the FW stuff is already head and shoulders above the Chaos Index helbrute- it would be nice to have the bog-standard dreads of chaos be able to offer something that FW can't. I don't think this really levels the playing field, but it is a step in the right direction. That being said, I think Dallas Drake is right too, it sucks from a clarity perspective. I hadn't even thought about the difference between name and keyword in a stratagem. Though until they give us a way to kill Commisars they can't blame us for trying! EDIT Can anyone confirm how many of each special melee weapon Plague Marines can have? I thnk I have it.
