So, looks like people at my FLGS are actually getting the Necromunda itch finally. I decided to go with Goliaths for my first campaign as I'm worried Corpse Grinders might be a "Fun for Me, not for Thee" force with how I loaded them out (WYSIWYG is a thing for us).

So the Ironwerks (or Iron City, can't decide) Immortans will soon rise to rule the Hive!

Ironwerks. :tu:

Bit of a shame it's not Kraftwerk but Ironwerks does, well, work.

I like alliteration (plus it plays into the whole "Goliaths aren't too bright" as it's easier to remember ).

Going with a colour-scheme and theme based on the War Boys from Mad Max: Fury Road if the name wasn't a big enough clue  So blacks and greys, bright shiny silver armour with some small bits of red for the Goliath house colours.

Never watched any of the Mad Max films, so I appreciate you pointing the reference out. ;)

I'm having a few difficulties with my Escher ladies in the current campaign with got running but with a bit of luck and by learning from my mistakes, I'm hoping to make a proper comeback during the Takeover phase.

Mad Max is basically the Ash Wastes for Necromunda (in fact, I think as a franchise, Mad Max was one of the inspirations for Necromunda in general).

As to the War Boys, well....

StD: you'd probably suffer an aneurysm if I gave you a list of all the film classics I haven't seen.

That said, suggestion noted. Cheers. :)

I already have a hernia, I may as well have an aneurysm as well. :D

Ideas and inspirations for outcast gangs, anyone?

I'm doing a Outcast swarm gang.

The leaders are all Wyrds with Telepathy powers.

They are controlling the Hive scum to do their bidding.

Ideas and inspirations for outcast gangs, anyone?

What kind of inspiration are you looking for? Something to base the theme of the gang on, like a real-world or film/video game/book/etc. inspiration? Or inspiration for how to build the gang, kind of like what Perry has suggested?

I think whatever the case, one of the biggest deciding factors is what you pick as the leader for your gang. And given you can choose almost anything that has a stat-line in Necromunda, there's a hell of a lot of options here. If you have some sort of theme in mind for the gang I suppose that determines what you might pick to lead your gang as much as vice versa.

One idea I had was to use the House Catallus Carnival to lead the gang, and paint the gang in purple and green with all the other gang members wearing clown make-up or masks. Basically the Joker and crew in the underhive.

Ideas and inspirations for outcast gangs, anyone?

The sky's the limit, really, so it's all a bit overwhelming. I'll give the new Outcast gang rules a look-over but I think I'd be better off finishing off my Escher gang first before distracting myself with the latest shiny new thing...

Do we have bows in Necromunda yet?? I have an Ash wastes Raider with a bow that I wanna use. :'(

Unfortunately, the only bow in the game so far is the Wyld Bow for the Wyld Runners of House Escher.

The Wyld Bow is pretty poor with a range of 18" with -1 to hit at anything over 9". They can take Poison, Explosive and Acid arrows at an obscene cost. As cool as the model/idea is, they're just not worth considering (and this is from someone who is a narrative gamer), realistically, the specialist arrows need to drop by 10 credits apiece.

Hopefully, an Outlanders style book will come along soon, so that Ratskins, Muties and Ash Waste Nomads can offer something similar.....I'll let you know when it happens

I've used a bow on a Wyld Runner to good effect, but I would definitely agree that it's not a smart move and you have to be very set on the concept to actually fork over the creds for it. If you decide to use it, the explosive arrows are more or less the only way to make it not a completely boneheaded setup, but then you sink more creds into an already very suboptimal choice.

Still, it's worth it when you finally manage to pull of a "Rambo" move and blow up some hapless enemies with a bow-propelled grenade :D

I may as well give it a try, at least if it fails years down the line people will say 'hey remember that time you ran a ganger with a bow and failed at life? Those were some funny games!'.

Tbh my best Necromunda memories were from games where everything went wrong, 20 years on we still tell the tales of the worse games we had, never the good ones. :lol

I know! Our recent attempt at a campaign had my Redemptionist Priest die in the first game. Then his less zealous second in command took over and promptly got -1T in the next game, so the gang became more and more pathetic, but their story somehow became better and better as they ended up being a sad bunch who collected garbage and stole from the collection plate at the local chapel, rather than a glorious horde of zealous crusaders :D

Wow, that's quite the absence of luck! Glad you managed to turn it around, in a way, with a good story and some humour: that's the kind of spirit you need to properly enjoy Necromunda, in my mind. :tu:

The worst thing was when the ratio of fanatics:devoted gangers shifted due to losses, my leader failed his roll and I had to become lawabiding! The SHAME of it!

But yeah, it was great fun :smile.:

I took my new Wyrd Outcast gang out for a spin today.

A Escher ganger with a bow took out two Hive Scum in a row with normal arrow shots!

My Leader with the hallucinogenic power had a great time making enemy gangers Insane, whilst my Champion got sent into the warp after rolling a double 6 while trying to make a chemical gun run out of ammo.

Cool 8 really hurts the gang, they run away alot.

Sounds like a fun game was had! :)

I sometimes struggle with Escher and Cool 7 so I can only imagine what Cool 8 must be like... especially if it's compounded by Random Selection (D3+3/4/5) and you get a low result and that becomes your starting gang for the purpose of Bottle Tests.
