HeritorA
Something that confused me. They took Sigismund body, I thought his body was entombed on the Eternal Crusade? And they did. But that doesn't mean that in the future HL of Terra will agree to entomb Sigi into the Eternal Crusader. Nothing wrong with continui Path of Heaven made a extremely dangerous and credible villain out of Eidolon He's the EC's answer to the likes of Sevatar, Sigismund, etc. He is not. Yes - Eidolon can handle himself and he is prowed mighty - but on the level with Sigismund? He would have died in 10 seconds from the start of the fight. MellowPrimarchs books are going to be about Horus and Alpharius - eventually Yes I see what you mean - I think the story of AL will go exactly that road. They show his relations with Horus and Emperor. Between son and fosterson, Emperor and general, loving father and uncaring brother and vise versa, etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338425-the-black-legion/page/52/#findComment-4870124 Share on other sites
Taliesin
Pretty big difference in terms of how the limited edition sold out last year and this year, two weeks later there are still 800 copies left. Which is the same number that they had for sale a week ago. Personally I would have considered the limited edition if it had come with illustrations, that really ups the value for me. Without it, the standard hardcover makes much more sense as that is a solid book in its own right. HeritorA
ADB's signature reminds me of Metallica's Ride the Lightning album cover. Which goes from the First Heretic to Night Lords trilogy and soo on. b1soul
One scream from Eidolon can rip apart a tank...unless his opponent has protection from that, Eidolon is one of the deadliest marines around. He's also very handy with his hammer, especially when stimmed by Fabius' combat drugs. Yeah, I'd put him up there with the likes of Sig, Abaddon etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338425-the-black-legion/page/52/#findComment-4871205 Share on other sites

Ascanius
One scream from Eidolon can rip apart a tank...unless his opponent has protection from that, Eidolon is one of the deadliest marines around. He's also very handy with his hammer, especially when stimmed by Fabius' combat drugs. Yeah, I'd put him up there with the likes of Sig, Abaddon etc. My judgement of characters like Sigismund, Abaddon, Ahriman, et cetera is not purely in terms of prowess - though that obviously does matter - but in terms of influence and importance, as well, which is as much about their place in the narrative of the Horus Heresy as it is in their rank and status within their Legions. It's more about prominence than anything else. I haven't yet reached The Path of Heaven, so perhaps my opinion of Eidolon will evolve when I do, but I'd definitely say Fabius Bile is the only member of the Emperor's Children who even comes close to the impact on the overall narrative and his Legion of someone like Sigismund. Of course, that's partly because the Emperor's Children are barely a Legion. I mean, Barabas Dantioch is the most narratively important Iron Warrior so far, and he's an exile. Same goes for Nathaniel Garro and the Death Guard, largely because Calas Typhon hasn't pulled his malarkey yet. He wasn't written well before and I couldn't stand him as a character but he's great in PoH. Your point about prominence in the narrative is a good one but he has been around since the EC Index Astartes article and for years was probably the only named EC besides Lucius and Fabius. I'd warrant he's actually appeared 'on-screen' in the BL books as much if not more than Sigismund. That said, he didn't found a chapter or get a model or appear in multiple 40k books so yeah, he still falls down on that count. I think the rank and status thing is significant though. Khârn, Abaddon, Sigismund are all prominent and at their primarch's side throughout the heresy. Eidolon was essentially MIA for a while. He went from the highest-ranking EC commander to a literal corpse to someone who was actively shunned by his brothers to a borderline renegade by Path of Heaven. Eidolon is a fascinating character and there's a lot that could still be done with him but I agree, he's not quite up there with Sigismund/Ahriman both for his narrative prominence and his personal rank/ability in the background. DINOthedinosauer
Just a quick question. Do you need to read MoM before Black Legion do to any crossover or spoliers. Marshal Loss
Just a quick question. Do you need to read MoM before Black Legion do to any crossover or spoliers. No, but I would recommend it, simply because you'll gain a deeper understanding of what Drach'nyen is and why it's going to be so important in the series going forward. Yeah, I'd put him up there with the likes of Sig, Abaddon etc. He almost died in Path of Heaven fighting first captain of WS. And Sigismund is > than any other first captain. A lot being told already that Sigi is more than any marine under the Primarchs. Eidolon fighting Sigi would not happen - cause Eidolon would die. Just a quick question. Do you need to read MoM before Black Legion do to any crossover or spoliers. No. The only explanation it would give you is what actually Drach'yen is. b1soul
Eidolon's scream was partially nullified by the WS stormseers In a 1 on 1, no First Captain would have a counter to his scream. That would be a major advantange if the fight starts at a distance Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338425-the-black-legion/page/52/#findComment-4873091 Share on other sites
Knockagh
Just finished it today. Loved it, super series hope they keep coming. Only two minor (very minor) annoyances, 'You are speaking irrelevancies' ........ over and over, bit daft We are returned, should have been coming. Apart from that great. The first few chapters on the warband Wars were I think my favourite although it's hard to choose. Would like to hear more of life in the eye. And I think the limited edition isn't selling because there are just too many limited editions coming out particularly with the primarch series running. I reckon there is only around 1000 nut jobs like me buying up all the limited eds. That would be a major advantange if the fight starts at a distance It will not - if you listen to the 'Templar' - you saw how quickly Sigi can reach his opponent. No chances for ppor Eidi. Again - it's all theorethical cause Eidi vs Sigi would not happen, cause: BL plot armor, Slaanesh plot armor, lore plot armor and Eidolon maybe hedonistic psycho - but he is not an idiot.
