Lord Commander Eidolon
@LordVelype I'm glad you approve. I do like how the plague marine kit has a range of torsos - after all nurgle devotees aren't just fat n bloated. I really want to do a Gaunt and wasted away sorcerer as a faminebringer! I really disliked the DI Blightbringer, the silly backpack bell really wrecked the model in my view! As you liked the conversion I've since made some progress on him; so here he is so far, I should finish him just in time for the call of chaos! http://i65.tinypic.com/2ecowvc.jpg I'd post more WIP pics, if there's interest, otherwise I tend to limit posting to 'major' developments! DaBoiKyknos
Necrosius conversion WIP. I'm debating wether or not to leave the mutated are as is or trim it and fit a shoulder pad. Any thoughts?!? http://i65.tinypic.com/8yro1g.jpg Maybe do use a too small shoulderpad on him, or one which is broken in several parts, because of his excessive bloating? Lord Commander Eidolon
++CEBαCT KRYSTAAL ++ A spiteful and vindictive creature, burning with untold contempt for all he considers unworthy of either the Legion or its new patron Nurgle. Lord Commander Eidolon
Maybe do use a too small shoulderpad on him, or one which is broken in several parts, because of his excessive bloating? I'm thinking along those lines. Some of the plastic plague marine pads are in several pieces so I'll have a play around before committing. I don't want to trim the arm unnecessarily! Necrosius will be on the back burner, as I need to sort out my call of chaos vow! http://i63.tinypic.com/2ngyjwy.jpg Really enjoying building and modelling tanks! DG do offer such great opportunities for weathering!! Lord Commander Eidolon
If i could have have 1 hobby related wish, it would be to have your skill at weathering I second this! How did you do it? It looks amazingThanks gents. Earlier in the thread there's a few posts re a Rhino and I have a few pics of the unpainted Land Raider. I generally like to pre-weather by dremeling gouges, dents and holes. I'll then do a patchy rust layer with the airbrush as per this pic. http://i66.tinypic.com/2j68iea.jpg I've then added some scenic rust to give it texture in the places I'd feel rust would acumulate. This is a paste then once a it's dry you activate the rust effect. I actually applied chipping fluid and the layers of paint whilst the activation progress so the rust seeped through the layers. Here is the pre chipped stage http://i64.tinypic.com/24awj08.jpg I then used toothbrush, toothpicks and a stiff bristled paintbrush to chip the paint after the chipping fluid. I'm kind of at this stage now. http://i63.tinypic.com/2j5micy.jpg After the chipping I gloss varnish to seal the unstable chipped layer. Then use diluted oil paints to pin wash. You could use the gloss washes as it literally just flows into the panel lines. Personally I think the oil works better for extreme weathering as it leaves a dusty deposit. I'll next add streaking grime, rust spots and a layer of dust. Maybe a little light sponge chipping too. It really is just a process which if followed come together to give really nice results. It's just a case of building things up, being patient and trusting the process Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340082-downdirty-corrupted-death-guard-the-dr-will-see-you-now/page/3/#findComment-4957703 Share on other sites

Lord Commander Eidolon
++CEB∂CT KOSTYA++. One of the first Barbaran inductees into the legion, KOSTYA fought alongside Mortarion in his battles against the Overlords of the Mountains. Originally a farmer who’s meager land holdings and family were destroyed and turned by the undead puppets of the Overlords, KOSTYA was left for dead, yet would not die, for such was his need for retribution and vengeance. He was one of the first to swear fealty to the newly arrived Mortarion, and has steadfastly served his master ever since. His already hardy constitution was first enhanced by the Primarch’s geneseed and latterly by the blessings of Nurgle. KOSTYA still believes he is fighting to protect the weak, his noble aims have been perverted by the belief that the weak can only be saved by embracing the benedictions of the Plague God. http://i66.tinypic.com/2rnzr88.jpg Took a while to motivate myself to write the background! The 3 Deathshroud have been done for a while!! And if I keep them as a 3 they can ride in my Achilles!! Lord Commander Eidolon
@ Toyship - thanks mate! The Raider is done, I just need to take it to the local GW to get some good pics. I also think i'll experiment with a little weathering powder action on the tracks; as I saw a few cool articles on the subject of weathering in a military model magazine! Quite keen to try that out!! My Legion Herald / Noxious Blightbringer! As mentioned earlier on, I'm not a fan of the Dark Imperium backpack bell dude, so figured I'd use the Blightbrinder Bell instead! I have just realised that his cloak has fallen off, so i'd best add that back in, and i'll tidy up the eyes and smoke! http://i64.tinypic.com/2iw7w3m.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340082-downdirty-corrupted-death-guard-the-dr-will-see-you-now/page/3/#findComment-4966094 Share on other sites

Lord Commander Eidolon
A little festive update! Hark the Herald, Angels sing.....http://i65.tinypic.com/28ixpw0.jpgGlory to Nurgle.....Still a fair bit to go on him, but as a Christmas treat I decided to stick him together!! I've been seriously procrastinating on finishing him, mainly on account of the wings and the fading of the smoke/robe, but I finally figured out a scheme for them, so utilised my limited festive hobby time to good effect! It honestly was a lot of fun to paint; I love the MKIIB kit and the Blood&Skullz tracks really make the model! that land raider is gorgeous Well, wait till you see my Third Legion vehicles.... this Land Raider is a wee bit dirty! holy hell your weathering is superb. Why thank you! Believe it or not, I am still looking to add more weathering! Track dust and maybe some rust streaks!! There is never too much weathering with Death Guard! hushrong
The Angel of Nurgle looks good enough to top a Christmas tree! Only to come down a reap souls and spread pox so hopefully you kept him on the workbench for everyone's well being. I am not a great painter and I am intimidated by mine but I do hope I can come close to paint jobs like yours. I also noticed his left knee icon is not on. Did I miss something about that? I also want an achilles for my 40k army and its awesome to see one put together and painted well. I also think the mkIIB side sponsons are awesome. And Blood&Skullz, didn't they make a 'bladed' track for tanks in the past? hushrong
Sub assemblies. I definitely see where that would be helpful in painting him. I put mine together for a game and when looking over the finished model let out an expletive with the knowledge I will have to cross that bridge sooner or later. The smokey bits from his cape and the bits rising from his back are going to be interesting. I have an old WD where they painted the ghost army from LotR and I'll probably copy that. The purple you have coming from underneath his cape is divine. The LR also looks properly awesome and I think those tracks you have are great. They cement the look of a big, monster of a tank! Lord Commander Eidolon
Well the Angel finally cometh! Lord Commander Eidolon
Well, sometimes there's only so much pink a guy can paint! I know I've got a thunderhawk and jetbikes to finish but.....
