Major_Gilbear
One of entries that caught my eye in the new AM codex was the Crusaders unit. On the one hand this reminds me faintly of the old Frateris Milita and the Inquisitorial troops, and on the other it seems like quite a fun and fluffy way of having a themed knightly order or specialist duelling unit in a Guard army for regiments that may still have those traditions (Ventrillian Nobles perhaps?). What are people planning to use to model them with? The old Inquisitor models I imagine will be one (obvious) option, but I'm interested to see other people's ideas and models for them. Please share away! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340438-crusaders/ Share on other sites
NatBrannigan
I've used the following for my inquisitorial units. Crusaders: Guardsman legs, Scion torsos, Scion arms and powersword, Deathwatch kill team shield and Grey Knight Terminator heads. Death Cult Assassins: Guardsman heads, torsos and arms. Grey Knight paired swords (Falchions are they?) and High Helf sisters of Avalorn heads Acolytes: Guardsman torsos and arms, Scion arms and weapons (where possible, some Stormbolters from the bits box) and Grey Knight Terminator heads. they all tie together nicely as a force but are distinct as individual units as well. I'll get some pictures up when I'm home if I remember. They don't see much use at the moment because you can't use them together as a unit any more, but I'm going to bulk each unit up so they are more viable seperatley. Starting with Crusaders since they are now a Guard unit for some reason! I think to keep costs down (and because I can't find any more Deathwatch shields on bits sites) I'm going to use the spare Bullgryn shields I have. The smaller invulnerable save ones that kind of have an Inquisitorial "I" on them. Again, once I get one of those put together I'll put up a picture. What I really really really want is for Crusaders and DCA's to be able to ride in a Land Raider again... CoffeeGrunt
I'm still trying to work out how I'll fit Crusaders into my theme if I run them. Maybe either a bionic force of augmented humans with some heretical tech, or a xenos race with super-reflexes to represent the Invuln like Genestealers. Halfpint100
I used bretonian men at arms for my crusaders, with a bit of random empire bits thrown in. With as many aquilas and purity seals and parchment as possible Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340438-crusaders/#findComment-4910068 Share on other sites
Guardsman Bob
Squat with power armor, power axe, and laspitol. Chopped off the laspistol and attached a storm shield. Because back in the day my Inquisitor’s retinue needed a midget. Nicodemus Doloroso
My inquisition crusaders are a mix of Bretonnian, WFB Empire, Cadian, and Inquisition bits but for a more IG themed crusader I'm thinking of doing DKoK engineers with some sort of third party breacher looking shield and swords. TURBULENCE
I started on crusaders just the other day, I'm mostly blending mechanicus bits onto sisters of silence I had laying around. End result is looking pretty good for the part Nicodemus Doloroso 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340438-crusaders/#findComment-4910222 Share on other sites
hhhdan
my regiment is mechanicum oriented, so i've built mine (quite some time ago now) using the legs from empire flagellants - fantasy kit; Torso from dark angel veterans to get the robes, arms and heads from skitarii vanguard, power swords from sicarian infiltrators with the handles extended slightly; Finally the shield from the necron lychguard with the necron symbol cut off and replaced with the mechanicum icon from the imperial knights kit Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340438-crusaders/#findComment-4910828 Share on other sites
