DaBoiKyknos
Hey, I just wanted to ask if anyone read the "Will of Iron" story and think it was worth it. I don´t know if this the right place for this topic, because it´s technically a Black Library release, as far as i know., but I didn´t know of a better place for it. I just read the introduction which came as a freebie In White Dwarf a while ago. Is it good? What do yout think? For all who have no clue what it is, it is a story about Dark Angels battle Iron Warriors and an Inquisitor (getting "tips" from a possessed confined in here ship) trying to figure out what it´s all about. Here´s a link to the publication: https://www.comixology.com/Warhammer-40-000/comics-series/78214 Thanks for your replies! Please keep in mind that I didn´t read it so far and put important plot points in spoiler tags. DarkChaplain
I stopped reading it in the second arc. I just lost interest when the female Inquisitor got shoved into full-size Terminator plate without any regard for how human anatomy works. It also felt very all over the place. Inquisition hunting Dark Angels who clash with Iron Warriors, okay. Nothing too bad there. But then it split the plotline across an entire system, meaning we get snippets on all angles but all so short, due to the medium, that they felt shallow and unsatisfying. The arc ends pretty abruptly in my opinion, and the second arc somehow almost forgets about the Iron Warriors having been there, adds Harlequins, more cultists and Necrons, and the 3rd arc seemingly introduces Grey Knights, all of which are prominently showcased on the covers. There's just too much going on with too little screentime. What might work in a Black Library novel, though probably more like two at this point, just doesn't feel satisfying as a comic series with at times excessive wait times between issues. StellarElite
Honestly, it only just started getting interesting. The previous two series, Will of Iron and Revelations, kind of had a whole lot of nothing going on and the third arc feels like where all the tension and drama had disappeared off to. DaBoiKyknos
Hmmm, sounds a bit like the story of a Dawn of War I -setting, let´s say Winter Assault (though I wouldn´t blame the game designers, because I think it´s okay for a game to feature every faction and the story isn´t that important there). Ok, so it´s a "maybe" from you, I guess. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341921-will-of-iron-worth-reading/#findComment-4948802 Share on other sites
Knockagh
I bought the first 2 or 3 I loved the artwork but the storyline never grabbed me. The waiting between issues do doesn’t bother me as I buy comics every month and love them but I agree the story arc needed more fleshing out, a novel would have suited better.
