Interesting thing to note for the future:

Cost: The ability's cost in Cohesion. The Battle-Brother must pay this cost from his Kill-team’s pool of Cohesion points to activate the ability during the course of the a Mission. However this cost need only be paid once per Mission.

Found on page 219 of Deathwatch Core.

This means that now that I've activated Squad Advance, we can basically reactivate it freely so long as we're in the same "mission" if we ever have to drop out of it for whatever reason.

Additionally, this also means that we can make repeated use of abilities like Furious Charge and/or Bolter Assault if we've previously used them.

Please note I have not read your spoiler, so you could be ahead of me in parts here.

Slips, meant to advise on your Cohesion Challenge - you almost had it - for this game we've been rolling on Vaidan's FW bonus as he is nominal Kill-Team leader.

This gives you a Cohesion of 6 and that is your target number:

Fw Bonus = 4 +1 (from Command skill) +1 (From COmmand Skill +10 on his profile) = 6.

That's your challenge number and your resource pool.

With regards to Squad Mode abilities you only have access to the ones allowed by the Oath - this is why it's important to choose a flexible Squad Leader - in this case, under Oath to the Emperor, you may only use:

  • Fire for Effect
  • Strongpoint
  • Regroup
  • Any Chapter Specific Squad Modes

Also I'd point you to the errata (you're right about effects lasting for a mission) but some abilities only last for a Turn if they are not sustained - e.g Fury of Sanguinius.  Also something to bear in mind is support range.  For Rank 1 scrubs like us it's about 30 metres.

It is up to the GM if he allows you to use more than one Squad Mode at a time, personally I would recommend not, as this can lead to a huge pile of bonuses, alterations and rules everyone has to remember.

That's all I can cogently add without crunching the rules at the moment - will chime in again after sleep.

Quick GM question

Are there still servitor wrecks on the floor we are coming from or the area we are descending into ? While we are all in agreement about not stalling this, we would like to even the numbers a bit - so fixing up a servitor before going down or once we are in the bay would even out the numbers a bit

BLUE TEAM ONLY:

There would be servitor's bodies, yes, but they have been cut up pretty well by the red team. You might be able to restore one to partial functionality, or take the heavy stubber, or use one as a shield...

OOC: I am on the move today, so just posting the hideous scheme for this turn and may be fill up with prose later.

GM /Blue Team:

We are leaving the Skull on the floor above -ideally in some sort of container- before descending. Once down, Sabaan will rush towards the door mechanism, avoiding being seen or at least keeping out of the most obvious line of fire. He will then close the door.

Once the door closes, Sabaan will hand his bolter over to Grey ( I am assuming he won't hand over a weapon untill they are down and have checked the area is empty) and get a heavy stunner from the servitor wrecks up and running, setting up a firing line towards the door (maybe Ehrung/ over a box for additional bracing/ cover).

Please keep in mind that Sabaan has access to both an internal Augury system, an Omnispex and multispectral vision from his exceptional bionics

-which I am assuming in setting up this movement ( Grey and Sabaan would otherwise sweep the the area for hidden hostiles first and not just rush to close the door) and should give us a heads up when Red team is approaching even once the door is closed.

Grey is going to set up mines covering the entrance, so that anyone charging in will trigger a mine on the way to the shooter positions ((again, ideally, given enough mines and time, two "lines" of directed explosion on the way in would be great)

Blue Team only:

By the Emperor... if everything goes as planned, they're going to be in a world of pain.

You two are a real sly and slippery bunch, eh? :P

BLUE TEAM:

I am happy with most of it except removing the blue skull from the area which I think is too unfair to the red team.

As previously mentioned, turn 6 you reach the lift and turn 7 you descend. Then you will be able to do what you want, but that depends on the red team's actions.

GM/Blue team:

IIRC, the aim is to bring the two skulls together and make them kiss so that last part might not be the best of ideas.
[/quote

Actually, the aim is for OUR team to deliver both skulls, graciously winning for red team after mopping the floor with them ;)

Failing that, making them pay for every bloody inch of the way.

It's intended to keep the skull safe from a quick snatch and grab while we are busy since we are still outmanned or a final Feth You should we go down fighting.

Also, it.'s a simulated blast, so there is no actual damage to the skull. Unless Mol rules otherwise, in which case I assume that by deliberately destroying our skull, red team wins automatically. Which is also fine by me as long as it takes one of Red team with it :)

Pfff, like the Genestealers are going to form up a line, holding up signs " Purge me " .... ;)

Ahem...

Dear Customer,

Blue Team Entertainment is sorry for the delay. We hope you enjoyed our Duett for Heavy Bolter and Cannon.

We are quite literally aiming to make this an experience as unforgettable as possible. We are however, by terms of contract and artistic license, bound by such terms as "game turns" and "dice rolling" which are not very entertaining on it's own but feel it would be lackluster to just jump to the crescendoing and overwhelming finale that is YOUR UNAVOIDABLE DOOOOOOOOOOOM.

...I really need to get some sleep now..

I am honestly sorry that you guys have to sit through what is the B&C version of waiting on the last two hidden units making their move in an XCom game :(

But Mol should have enough to get/ keep things going, well, behind the scenes and into some proper third act action here.

And of course, failing that, we are simply waiting on Varvost to snap from all the boredom and going all berserk on you in the end ;)

Pfff, like the Genestealers are going to form up a line, holding up signs " Purge me " ....

Dear Blue Team Customer Service Rep,

I have had the most stupefying day imaginable and your announcement of impending doooooooom upon the Red Team has been very welcome.  I would heartily recommend playing some soothing Death Metal over your service channels to keep us all occupied while you lay waste to the entire ship with your insane plan.

Jolly good.

That is all.

Slips, watch Varvost, I think he might start falling to the black rage...:laugh.:

And yet IM the one with the frenzy talent :x

Time to pick a door then. Shame we didn't grab up the heavy weapons :p
Nothings really stopping us... Edited by Slips

I don't necessarily see Varvost as falling to the Black Rage - he is ill-tempered and ill-humoured, perhaps. To say he prefers the direct approach is not to make him sound like a mindless berserker - he understands the benefits of stealth and subterfuge, even if they are not his preferred methods of war. He's also very confused (and somewhat frustrated) because he can't work out where the blue team are!
