Swordhand.

Orks! Vorr watched the feed from Titus stream across his tactical display rage building as the pitiful runts desecrated the Warhawk he could imagine the machine spirit screaming in fury as the xenos tried to take it apart. But when he focused on the lumbering forms of the Killa Kans a wicked grin formed. Finally. Armour targets for his new multi melta, the ramshackle machines were not the most glorious of targets but he didn't care.

Swordhand

Thire set off at a pacing jog towards Titus' location. As Vorr declared that the Killa-Kans be his and his alone to tackle, Gideon smiled beneath his helmet and began to intake the information from his Helmet's Tactical Display.

+You've enough barrels for the both of them Vorr. That Mek is clad in Mega Armour, no? A fine target for a Meltagun then.+

The crude Mega-Armour that Orks wore, while not comparable to the Steel Cladding of the Killa-Kans, was still something that would pose a challenge for even a Bolter to break through. For his Meltagun, however, it should do the trick. With any luck, the head of the beast might not be reduced to steaming offal, and Gideon could potentially claim it as a trophy. But he soon stifled his dreams of claiming trophies for his Chapter, there was purging to be done: especially if they wished to get off this wreck.  As Thire arrived near the doorway to the hangar, he awaited his orders. He had fought the Orks in the Delvis Rifts, he would fight them here again.

+Orks, brothers. Bring the storm.+

Achillion's blink-clicked away the tactical readout transmitted from Titus up ahead. He focused out the sounds of round checks and the activation runes of power fields as his mind withdrew and opened itself to the Warp. Honing in on the gestalt, simple energies coursing through the Greenskins nearby, the Codicier's awareness stretched across the bounds of the Riches Untold - unveiling any further boarding parties or hidden terrors.
'Mind Scan' Roll: 56
WP (53) + 5*PR (25) = 78 = 2 DoS

Swordhand:

Titus continued to observe the Orks, his lip curled in a silent snarl of contempt, as he waited for the rest of Swordhand to move up to the hangar door. The Xenos were an ever present threat across the breadth of the galaxy, so it was no real surprise that they should appear here. Or anywhere.

But the Delvis Rifts were not so far from the Baltarian Abyss. It was therefore not impossible that the greenskins might be familiar in some way to the former brethren of Gallowbane. Titus looked closer, trying to determine any details that might reveal more about their origin.

While waiting for the fight to start, thought I'd see if Titus can work out anything more about the Orks; their Klan, followers of a particular Warboss, etc, etc?

If needed, Awareness: 76, Roll: 55, 2DoS.

Edit: Nice. Forbidden Lore: Xenos is a Trained Skill for all DW Marines, right? And Intelligence-based?

Titus Int: 42 +20 = 62, Roll: 45, 1DoS. (A Pass, but not amazing...)

Swordhand

Of course it was Orks. He’d traveled the breadth of the Imperium and left his brothers behind so that he could learn the mysteries of the innumerable xenos hordes. And here he was, once again, fighting the vile Orks on a voidship.

As he approached the hanger bay and fell in beside his squad, he checked his plasma gun for the hundredth time since they had boarded the wreck. He said a quick benediction to the Emperor as well as a litany to the machine spirit of the weapon. Argus was uneasy at the prospect of bringing an unbloodied weapon into what was sure to be a brutal engagement. Of course this squad had not been tested either. Surely the Emperor would protect them. And if not, they would bring plenty of greenskins with them.

As the vibrations of direct impacts to the ship reverberated up the Blood Raven’s armour he guessed that the life of the Riches Untold was measured in minutes.

+As much as I enjoy a properly laid ambush, I do not believe we have the luxury of time. What are your orders, Reviler?+

Kill-Team Swordhand

Achillion:

As the conscious world around you fades from sight, you feel your mind expanding, taking on an other-form that races through the bones of the Riches Untold. It is a form that bears the wings of your long-dead Primarch, lending you his strength and grace. Whereas before you were surrounded by a long-dead tomb, now you can feel the presence of these Orkoid invaders. Their minds are primitive, consumed with glee and rage. It feels akin to placing your hand into a basket of scorpions, scratching and biting one another.

As your psychic form returns to your corporeal body it is clear to you that Orkoid boarders are peppering the decks of the Riches Untold, scattered across its decks. You would estimate their numbers range into the hundreds, split between the bestial Orks and the scratching, child-like minds of Gretchin. They do not seem to be converging on any one specific area of the ship, or moving with any organised purpose.

Titus:

Crouched by the door-way, shielded by your stummer, you are able to observe the greenskins for a longer period as your brethren move up to reinforce you. The cargo decks are dark, but it appears that these boarders have rigged up some light-rigs to illuminate their scavenging. Some of the grots crawling over the Stormraven wield blow-torches that cascade arcs of sparks.

A number of the Orks have removed the hoods and masks of their pressure-suits, revealing their porcine faces. Your knowledge of Ork "klans" and "kulturs" comes unbidden to your forebrain as you observe the blue warpaint and glyphs that marks their flesh. These Orks, you understand, belong to the tribe known as the Death Skulls.

If it's not clear - though I've tried to ensure it is - this deck has both oxygen and gravity, thanks to the ingenious ministrations of the Ork Mek here..

Swordhand:

The blue warpaint was an immediate and obvious identifier; Death Skulls. Gallowbane had faced their ilk in the Rifts more than once. Filthy scavengers, infamous even amongst a whole species of thieves. Known for their Hereteks and heavy weapon wielders, though no less capable at close quarters than any of their cousins.

But of much greater concern were the sudden sparks that caught Titus' eye, erupting from the hull of the Warhawk. The Gretchin, feeble in themselves, were carrying crude cutting torches! Given enough time, they would be able to penetrate the Stormraven's ceramite shielding. Swordhand needed to act - immediately.

Thankfully, from behind him Titus heard the sounds of his brethren moving into position around the portal. Sgt Kol, the specialists Maladon and Yeng, and Brother Boros were holding a rearguard position against another roving band of Orks. That meant the Angel Encarmine had command. Titus was eager to see Achillion's obsession with action put to a greater purpose than training. Without turning, he whispered into his vox.

+Right on time, brothers. Codicier, permission to strike?+

As the psychic angel-form merged with Achillion's physical body, his posture straightened and he took a sharp intake of breath.

"The Greenskins outnumber us at least thirty to one," the Librarian growled into his vox-bead through his mangled mouth, "but they are merely scavengers. We should clear the Xenocide of hostiles then continue our search of the derelict for traces of House Sunder."

After a pause to work the life back into his jaw, he finished; "If our path brings us face to face with the savages then we show no mercy, but we do not seek out this fight."

Keeping up a good pace to the hangar bay, Achillion felt power and anticipation coursing through his veins. HUD readouts on the inside of his visor told him that his Angelus-Ves Bolt Pistol was loaded and ready for battle. As they neared the entrance to the hangar, a voice interrupted the silence across the vox channel.

+Right on time, brothers. Codicier, permission to strike?+
"Give them hell, Stormbringer."

Swordhand:

At Achillion's order, Titus hurled himself through the portal, followed closely by the brethren of Swordhand.

Cohesion Test to activate Squad Mode: Target: 7, Roll: 3 Success!

(All Marines within 30m Support Range may now enter Squad Mode as a Free Action)

Activate Bolter Assault at a cost of 3 Cohesion, now at 4 remaining.

(All Marines in Squad Mode may immediately make a Move up to their Charge distance and make a single Standard Attack with a Bolter/Bolt Pistol/Grenade)

The Stormbringer raced towards the stairs, seeking the higher ground of the flat platform that ran along the hangar. A lone greenskin stood near the top of the steps, rummaging in a crate for valuables, but it seemed to have found nothing except pieces of disposable crockery and cutlery that now lay strewn across the main deck below it. As he ran, Titus fired a single, precise shot from Huntsman before the beast could look up or even register his presence. The vile creature was punched forwards against the crate, then it slumped backwards to drop bonelessly to the main deck several metres below. Kill Primus. An honour much sought after by the savage warriors of the Stormbringers' Strike Companies, but Titus was already looking for his next target.

Titus' Bolter Assault Actions:

Charge Move (18m) to the square at the bottom of the stairs.

Standard Attack with Stalker at Wrekka A

BS52 +10(SigWargearMaster) +10(Laser Tracer) +10(Short Range) +30(Surprised) = 112, Roll: 64, Hit on 46 (Body)

Surprised, cannot React.

Dam 1d10+9 Tearing +2(Mighty Shot) +1(Exceptional)

(2,10!)+9+2+1+4(RF) = 26 Wounds at Pen9(Pen 4 + Focal Sight: Per Bonus 5)

26 -TB8 -AV0(AV3-Pen9) = 18 Wounds suffered. Wrekka A is killed.

OOC: Although technically everyone's Bolter Assault Actions come next, I'm including Titus' regular Actions below, as I don't think they should interfere with anything anyone else does? If they do, I'll cut and amend!

Another Ork, much further along the walkway, raised its head at the noise caused by its fellow falling. It had not yet realised the danger. Titus halted his rush for a split second and again raised the Stalker. As his finger rested upon the venerable weapon's trigger, targeting reticles and ranging information suddenly overlaid his HUD, and a pinprick of light - invisible to all but him - appeared at the very centre of the beast's forehead. In truth, at these distances, such precise instrumentation was barely necessary.

Regular Actions:

Half Action: Aim.

Half Action: Called Shot at Loota B (Head).

To hit: BS52 +10(SigWargearMaster) +10(Laser Tracer) +20(Half Aim with Accurate) +10(Short Range) +30(Surprised) -20(Called Shot) = 112, Roll: 49, Hit with 6DoS.

Surprised, cannot React.

Damage:

1D10+9 Tearing + 2(Mighty Shot) +1(Exceptional) + 2d10(Accurate:1D10 per 2 DoS on roll to Hit, max 2d10)

(8,1)+9+2+1+7+6 = 33 Wounds to Head at Pen 9(Pen 4 + Focal Sight: Per Bonus 5)

33 -TB8 -AV0(AV5-Pen9) = 25 Wounds suffered. Loota B is killed.

Stalker now at 22/24 Standard Ammo.

As the second Ork was blasted off the far end of the platform, Titus disengaged the Stummer. Swordhand had struck and there was no use for secrecy now. He fed full power through his armour, allowing the unsettling subsonic hum emitted by his power pack to grow and be felt by greenskins across the breadth of the hangar.

Titus causes Fear 1 (Armour History 2).

Embe is quick to follow Titus into the breach, using his jump Pack to ascend right up to the Walkway, flying up right as the ork Titus eliminated plummets down. When up there, he lands standing next to the crates and gives the nearest unsuspecting ork a quick bolter shot. The explosion pulls off a solid chunk of alien muscle before the arms owner can even fathom it. A solid blow, but Chaka knows that the rapidly approaching melee is where he will be able to do the most good.

Embe's Bolter assault actions:

Move up to where ork A used to stand using the Jump Pack

Standard attack with Bolter half of Combi-bolter at Wrekka E

BS36, +10 (short range), +30 (surprised) = 76, Roll: 22, Hit 22 left arm

Enemy is surprised, cannot react

Damage = 1d10+9X, Tearing

Damage: (3,8!) +9 = 17 at pen 4(Armor 3 ignored), reduced by enemy TB (8) is 9 wounds

Following Titus' lead into the hangar bay, Achillion's eyes flicked across his visor display at an incredible speed. Taking advantage of the sheer brutatlity of their ambush, the Librarian's Angelus-Ves pistol barked and bored an off-centre hole through a Greenskin's belly before it had a chance to look up from its scavenging.

Letting his pistol fall and mag-lock to his hip, Achillion primed the EMP grenade requisitioned from Fasumé and tossed it mid-run towards the flank of the green horde. Slamming his shoulder into a stack of stowage separating him from the counter-attack of the Orks, the Codicier gripped Libra with two hands in preparation for what his gene-line did best.

The popping hiss of the EMP grenade and the sharp tang of static signalled its detonation at the feet of the walking monstrosity of scrap iron at the far end of the bay.

Achillion's Bolter Assault Actions:
Charge Move (18m) in a straight line through the center.
Standard Attack with Bolt Pistol at Wrekka D.
To Hit: BS (51) + Surprised (30) = 81, Roll: 56, Hit (2 DoS) on 65 (Body).
Surprised, cannot React.
Dam 1d10 + 9 Tearing.
(10!, 8) + 9 = 19 Wounds at Pen 4.

Righteous Fury = BS (51) + Surprised (30) = 81, Roll: 24 (RF Confirmed).
19 + RF (5, 5!) - TB (8) - AV (AV 3 - Pen 4 = 0) = 16 Wounds suffered.

Wrekka D is killed.

Mk II Angelus-Ves Patter Bolt Pistol now at 13/14 Standard Ammo.

Regular Actions:

Half Action: Move (6m) to take cover behind crates next to Wrekka F.

Half Action: Standard Attack (EMP Grenade)

To Hit: BS (51) + Surprised (30) = 81, Roll: 64, Hit (1 DoS).

EMP Grenade (Haywire 3): 3 x SB (12) = 36m. Lands next to Killa Kan 2, catching Killa-Kan 2 and Wrekkas H and K in blast.

Effect: Major Disruption (42)

All actions utilising technology, including firing Ranged weapons without the Primitive Quality, Tech-Use Tests, and any physical actions attempted while wearing power armour or employing cybernetics, suffer a –20 penalty. The Base Movement of anyone in power armour is reduced by 3. Melee weapons with technological components function as a Primitive weapon of the analogous type.

Swordhand:

Joining his Brothers in their Assault, Gideon rushed into the hangar, quickly reattaching his Meltagun to his armour via Mag-Locks, and smoothly and efficiently drawing his Bolt Pistol from it's own maglocked position. Swordhand

+For the Emperor+ Argus quietly murmured over the vox link as the squad began its assault. He wanted to scream the mantra at the Xenos scum. Blasting it through his speakers so they would know that death was coming for them. He also knew, however, that his team would not appreciate losing the element of surprise.

The Blood Raven charged in quickly with his Bolt Pistol drawn in his left hand. He raised the weapon and sighted at the nearest Ork. The beast did not seem to notice him as it was too busy prying some container apart with its claws. As Argus’ weapon roared to life in his hand the side of the Ork’s head exploded in green viscera just as its leg was blown off by Gideon’s own weapon. The shredded remains fell to the deck below with a thud.

Argus’ Bolter assault actions:

Charge (15m) into room towards closest crates.

Standard attack with Bolt Pistol at Wrekka F.

To Hit: BS (58) + Surprised (30) + Short Range (10) = 98, Roll: 10, Hit (8 DoS) on 01 (Head)

Enemy is surprised, cannot react

15 – Armour0 (3-4pen) – TB8 = 7 damage to Wrekka F.

Wrekka F is killed.
