ROUND EIGHT CONTINUES

Atratus:

Atratus has AG7(+1 due to his armour): Full Move 16, Charge 24, Run 48. These movement values are doubled by the Jump Pack (so Full 32, Charge 48, Run 96.)

Free Action: Cohesion Challenge to enter Squad Mode (5): 2 (PASS)

Using this ability, the BattleBrother and those in Support Range of him may make an immediate Charge Move and a Standard Attack with a melee weapon. In addition, such is the fury of such an attack that all Battle-Brothers involved may re-roll Damage for their attacks.

Atartus called for action from the squad, having just felled the beast that sought to challenge him, Tyber turned his attention to those closest to him. Hefting his arming sword into a high guard stance he lunged forward at the closest of the beasts, lancing his blade out towards the head of the creature.

Three against one.  It was time to even those odds, time to stand.

++My Headsman! Your axe seems to be unemployed!  Shall I kill these vermin myself and beat your tally?++ he looked about him as cloven hooves stamped and bladed appendages scythed past, cutting whatever foul vapours lingered in the air.

++And My Savant, does your Iron yield so easily?  My Hunter, is your stalk ended?++

He dropped Cadence at his feet and already hefting Sonnet, grasped his Chainsword in his other hand.

++To me my Kin - shoulder to shoulder we overcome!  We are the line, we are their doom!++

Akkad takes the following actions:

Free Action: Drop Cadence

Free action: Draw Chainsword

Invoke Demeanour: Maelstrom Warders

Call Attack Pattern Gamma: Furious Assault.

Already in combat, no charge, but Standard Attack, Re-roll damage.

Target Warrior P (Chainsword)

WS 37 + 20 (Size) =57

D100: 010 PASS 4 DoS

Damage: 1D10(2D10 Tearing) + 12 (SB) + 3 (Dam), at Pen 3

Location (Head): 21

For his turn, Akkad takes Half Action: Detonate Pillar 8

Half Action: Standard Attack

Target Warrior P

WS 37 + 20 (Size) = 57

D100: 38 PASS, plus one DoS

Damage: 1D10(2D10 Tearing) + 12 (SB) + 3 (Dam), at Pen 3

Location (Right Leg): 23

Akkad will Dodge as Reaction, AG 45 + 10 (Trained)

He jabbed high, driving the point of the buzzing chain weapon at the warrior's face, before slashing down, to try for a hamstring or kneecap.  He took advantage of the movement to bang the heel of his hand into the detonation rune.

Yeng:

In an effort to convey what Apologist requested in his post, I will temporarily grant Yeng the Grenadier skill from the Ultramarines Tyranid War Veteran specialisms:

The Battle-Brother may use a Krak Grenade

as his chosen weapon for any Charge Attack, Standard Attack

or All-Out Attack action, suffering a –20 penalty to hit due

to the difficulty of the attack. However, if the attack roll

succeeds, the Battle-Brother deals the normal damage of an

Astartes Krak Grenade (with its associated Pen value), adding

+1 to the Pen for every Degree of Success on the attack roll

(to represent the grenade being thrust into vulnerable points

in the creature’s carapace).

Yeng makes an All Out Attack against Warrior X:

As Atratus dove to attack the warrior before him easily evaded... or was it the blow itself? The room still span, the weight and force of the xenos overlords power all but blinding the Raptor reducing his swordsmanship to clumsy hacking as he strived to batter down the creature before him.

The tyranid itself suffered no such ill effects as it struck back, its blows glancing off the astartes armour but it was only a matter of time before the accumulating damage would compromise its protection.

Atratus ducked back away from another blow drawing upon the training and edicts of his chapter, not to seek glory or recognition in direct combat but to seek only victory by any means. To strike at the weakness of the enemy even if such might be considered cowardly or dishonourable. The mist around him seemed to lift as he pushed on, the psychic energies of the hive seeming to fall away.

Feigning injury from the warriors blows he staggered backwards guard down but eyes never wavering from his foe and as it pressed forward Atratus ignited his pack once more to suddenly close the distance between them, driving the creature into the ground before it could complete its attack.

Still at WS10, so usual hail of inaccurate swings - two weapon lightning attack, target 50 (WS 10, +10 gauntlets, +10 outnumbered, +20? size, +10 hunter, -10 two weapons)

Rolls to hit: 40, 57, 66, 3 - two hits out of four

Rolls to damage 5 8 / 9 1

 -hit 1 = 8+16 = 24, Pen 3  (head)

 -hit 2 = 9+16 = 25, Pen 3  (arm)

Assassin strike away on the final attack and re-trigger furious assault to charge back in :

Roll to hit = 25 (hit vs target number 70)

Roll to damage 6 8 1 4  - not great, so reroll these thanks to furious assault to 4 2 10 9 (rightous fury = 2)

 -total damage = 21+16 = 37, Pen 3 (body)

If in doubt throw lots and lots and lots of dice at the target...

Extra damage dice for the two other hits:

8, 10 / 10, 1

Righteous fury dice: 8 / 2

--------------------------

case, the target takes 1d5 levels of Fatigue and is now suffering Blood Loss.

++Well met friends - aye, you are all friends and kin today.++

Akkad tentatively banged his vambrace off the pauldrons of the Eradicator and Iron Hand, nodding his gratitude, to sweep his chainsword in salute to the Storm Son. He took a few breaths to steady his thumping hearts, attempting to ignore his sparking vox and the fluttering static skewing his visor. His armour was as badly beaten as he was, and the punishment received over the last hour gave him pause enough to recall anything to match it.

Except Hellsiris, which exceeded...everything.

Even the monster now bearing down on them with its brood of bodyguards.

Akkad's Actions:

Donate Fate Point from Demeanour (if awarded!) to Cohesion +1

Donate Last Fate Point to Cohesion +1

Free Action: Holster Chainsword.

Free Action: Holster BP

Free Action: Drop Prone, and grip Cadence.

Full Action: Spend 3 Cohesion

Squad Mode/Defensive Pattern Omega: Strongpoint

Nominated Target: Tyrant Overlord.

This is a Sustained SQD Mode so anyone in Solo may join immediately.

++Now friends!  Kill me this rabble!++

He quickly opened a private channel, smiling.  ++Ahu, we're going to need a bigger Waka.++

Akkad will keep his Reaction to Dodge AG 45 +10 (Trained) and - 10 BS to hit him (Prone)

With the pressure behind his brow lifted, the pixelating in his optic nerve seemed to lessen. The revulsion  remained, unsullied.  So did the rage. He felt the groaning of every motivator along his right side, hydraulics  hissing, sparking. He had been ploughing through the magnaneuronal battleground, clung to Creed and Calculus to reign the fury in, fighting mostly methodically, almost subconsciously, trusting the cogitation of his war plate. He became dimly aware of shouting. Verbal exchange.

The Iron Hands blinked, attempting to apply a more conscious assessment of the tactical situation. His servo-arm suddenly flexed, whirring, then recoiled as the Devastor banged against his Pauldron.

>>Apparently we have reached the point where we are once more executing  lethal verbal force against the enemy <<

The mental smirk smelled of ozone and had the taste of copper.

Sabaan grunted and spat.  Red streaked through the milky phlegm. The acidic hiss was lost in the organic mayhem around him. He opened the box.

++ Really, Brother, if we just kill them all, would you finally cease babbling? ++

Akkad looked up from where he lay, snorted and checked the Heavy Bolter over.  Although Sabaan was brusque, for him, this was a good mood.  Perhaps the loss of a crushing headache would explain it.

++Unlike the Mechanicum, I guarantee nothing,++ he smirked under the battered helm.

You see it happening, whip-fast. Too quick for you to intervene; too quick to even warn your battle-brother, as the Tyrant-beast descends upon him, living blade aimed straight for his head in a decapitating strike.

But Ghent is, somehow, quick enough. You see the Invader bring up his own blade in defense, the chainsword’s motor roaring defiance.

Some of you have heard of the legendary Feast of Blades, fought between the closest descendants of Rogal Dorn. You know in that moment, with absolute certainty, that Ghent would have been welcomed with open arms at that feast’s table.

This is a warrior who has sparred blade-to-blade with the artisan-warriors of the Idharaean Aeldari and their kin from Alaitoc; who fought in the dark battles that led to the Invaders abandoning their ancestral home.

This is a warrior marked with the star of greatness, destined to take his rightful place amongst the First Company of his Chapter.

The chainsword’s roaring teeth catch the leading edge of the bone-sword, skittering and scudding whilst trying to gain purchase. Chips of chitin spin away into the air. You see the Invader pushing hard as both blades lock, trying to resist the overwhelming force of the Xenos Beast.

For a moment, he succeeds, breaking free, pushing his foe back.

But event Ghent is not quick enough for the second strike, the blow that bisects him totally. The sword bursts free at his waist amidst a welter of gore that even his Haemastamen cannot staunch. You see the upper half of the Invader’s body land beside the central pillar of the Chamber; you see his gauntleted hands scrabbling for his chainsword again, defiant to the end. Still somehow, impossibly, seeking to defy this Xenos defiler.

And then you see him stiffen, and cease to move.

If this were a cheap holo-vid disseminated amongst the drinking-holes of some seedy hab-hive, you might expect the Tyrant to unleash a saurian roar that shakes you to your core, like some atavistic horror from the earliest genetic memories of the Human race.

But the creature is silent, fixing its impossibly all-knowing eyes upon its next target. Its jaws are fixed in a rictus grin; the rich blood of the Invader still drips from the killing edge of its bone-sword.

It was the way of the Raptors to accept death as an inevitability, the only constant in universe. Where Ghent had fallen another would rise, no better way to mark his end than to seize on its opportunity. The leader beast had moved momentarily beyond its guard to strike the blow and Atratus pushed all other matters from his mind, there would be time enough to honour the dead should any of them survive.

As the beasts guards rushed forward to join their leader the Raptor raised his rifle once more.

The pennants of the Astral claws, blue, gold and silver snapped and twisted in the breeze outside the Palace on Badab Primaris.  Clouds lazily strolled through the air, clogging together in strange formations, only to be lanced through by golden sunlight from above.  The sound of the Erad Kitan, a hunting hawk, keened against the blast-proof glazing that stared out over the carapaces of the Urukian mountains.

It plunged after some small prey-mammal.   A momet later, it soared up on the thermals, obviously disappointed.

It was a perfect day.

For riding, sailing, hunting with spears in the forest.  Aye, even falconry.  Such were the pleasures of a minor nobleman, he thought.  Instead, he stood here, helm in hand, the finest Vertanese crystal of the visor peeking up at him, framed in austere silver.  Accusing.  He sighed at it.

The scratching of quill against vellum ceased.  "You have more to say, Lance-Sergeant?"

"Your pardon, lord.  A moment of lapsed attention."

"I take it," Captain Iscarion drawled through the preamble, "that is what happened here?"  His hand swept across the reports on his desk.

A Battle-Brother had died in an action against the Eldar pirates that plagued the Maelstrom Zone.  A band of thirty cutthroats had pummelled Third Company and the support fire his team supplied was on the wrong target, allowing the filthy xenos to close, and apply their poisoned blades before they were felled.

Akkad took the blame, the fault was his.

Iscarion's face softened.  "Do you have anything to say in your defence, before punsihment?"

He said nothing.

++++++++++++++++++

If we kill them all, will you cease your babbling?

The Raptor fired, the beast impossibly sliding out of the way with a disgusting sinuous twist of chitin and thick, mucus, slicked muscle.

The Invader's helm peered across at him, accusing.

He said nothing.  Instead, Akkad sighted along the chunky frame of Cadence, and the music began.
