New Knight Castellan Revealed!

I wonder if they'll end up changing or even removing a few of the existing knight datasheets. Looking at the current differences between them I really feel like 5 separate datasheets seems like overkill

It does fill pages in what is a sparse codex however.

And also, like I've said before, it stops you capping out on datasheets with the new rule of three beta rules like renegade knights do.

The same could arguably be said of the baneblade family.

My thought on the terrain piece is a Sachristan Crawler. From the BL books, its a mechanicus command/repair/rearm vehicle. I'd guess it has to deploy to work hence "terrain/fortification" instead of a vehicle sheet. That's both lore friendly, and could reasonably give the benefits suggested.

Hello everyone!  Saw some IK rumors over on DakkaDakka and wanted to share here.  Sounds like mid-June and some encouraging i

Doh!  Swear I read the post yesterday and totally missed that.  My bad! :)

I mean yes, sort of.. But unless I'm mistaken at least all of the different IG super heavies have unique main guns whereas a few of the different knights are very similar.

It does pad the codex however, so I doubt they remove any

It appears that the separate data sheets for each Knight variant future-proofed IKs for the “Rule of Three” beta rule. If all Knights were just on data sheet with all the options, we’d only be able to field 3 Knights and 3 Warglaives.

SJ

1 - The rule of three is not Beta for Comp, it is a suggestion for events, or am I wrong?

2 - I always thought the 5 Knights are a joke, it is just 1 vehicle with 3 different main guns, 2 cc weapons, 2 nipple weapons and 3 back weapons. Would be cool to make different rules for different Knights, especially the Gallant needs something to keep up with the rest...

3 - I am so looking forward to the first leaks and of course the final Codex. My Knights have seen very little of 8th edition so far, this needs to change

Honestly, capping on data sheets with IKs your running 2000+ armies arn't you? Still. I agree with you. I would rather they keep them all separate so we have cool and unique names for all the different variants. The units are already fairly limited. I hope they put Sentinels in the codex for baby walkers. ^_^

I still think it'd be nice for each variant to get something else to differentiate them. Maybe a flavour rule?

Gallant could have an extra attack, maybe keep it's invuln in melee, Errant could re-roll wounds vs vehicles, Crusader could... shoot stuff, Paladin could go home in a sulk, wishing it were a Styrix too... :P

Well, you get the idea anyway :)

I'd like to see it more how the 30k HH Knight army works. Instead of the Knight itself getting new special rules per datasheet, you'd give them a Scion (pilot). And each Scion has different special rules attached to it. I think that'd definitely give the army some much needed extra flavor (in addition to the Household traits and whatnot).

That sounds like a cool system. It would be an easy way to add a bit of extra fluff to your favorite knights. Allthough from a game mechanic perspective I don't know if they would add another system on top of household traits. One can hope

Taking it with a massive mountain of salt due to the source, but parts of it is collaborated by other more reliable(?) rumors we already have. I get the feeling the truth may come sooner rather than later as well at any rate so getting pretty pumped

To fit 3 of them in 1850 points would mean that they can't be above the 600 mark, at least in any significant way

so 600 ish? Seems reasonable given its armaments. Hope the cost of the crusader is also toned down in comparison. Assuming any of this is legit of course.
