toaae
Update: April 29th, 2018 Semper has posted the rules. Check them out! Update: April 23rd, 2018 From the man himself: MAY 1st - AUGUST 1st ------------------------------------------------- A few things about the new rules: 1. The point limit per vow is lifted completelty but the total cap on all vows a participant makes is set at 20,000pts. That means that a participant may split those 20,000 pts among his/her 5 vows as he/she sees fit! And before I get the obvious question, yes, you may do a single 20k vow if that’s what you want. In effect you have up to 20,000pts to manage via 5 vows. You can of course do fewer vows or fewer points. You can never exceed though the 5 vow limit or the 20k points limit. You can however reach the limit of 20k pts with less than 5 vows (or you can do 5 vows at less than 20k pts in total). 2. Five Factions: Adeptus Astartes Imperial Forces (IFOR) Realm of Chaos Xenos Age of Darkness (AoD) 3. There are three levels of collective performance: Primus Inter Pares: the Forum with the highest score WITHIN its Faction Dominus Exercitus: the Forum with the highest score AMONG ALL Factions (similar but not 100% like the Primus Inter Pares of old) ETL VI Magister: the Faction with the highest score among all Factions 4. The Astartes Faction will consist of SMs, BAs, DAs and SWs 5. The IFOR Faction will include the GKs and the Deathwatch 6. IFOR Forums will have access (but not unlimited) to units form other IFOR Forums 7. Chaos is three Forums - not interchangeable 8. Aeldari is a single Forum (just to clarify) 9. AoD is split in two teams the Loyalists and the Traitors. Both have access to all HH units except those explicitly labeled "Traitor" for the Loyalists and those labeled "Loyalist" for the Traitors Remember, these are just some highlights - there is a ton of details still but feel free to ask any questions. Updates over Oi, listen up, ya gits! Coming up soon is the 6th E Tenebrae Lux event, an annual Bolter and Chainsword army painting challenge! And of course, with the introduction of Xenos to the B&C, this is the first one where we Orks can show who’s best. It’s us. Cause we Orks. What’s ETL?From the host of the event: E TENEBRAE LUX ETL) is an open-for-all event that aims to motivate the frater to build-up their armies in solid blocks while cultivating member interaction within individual forums as well as on a cross-forum level. ETL is designed to play down the inherent disadvantage of low traffic of some forums, levelling out as much as possible the chance of victory for all.The challenge is to paint legal units for your preferred army over a three-month period to the best of your ability. The reward is twofold: a personal and a collective one. On a personal level everyone who completes his/her vows will receive the “Custos Fidei”, the ETL badge of honour – a glorious distinction as veterans of previous ETLs will testify. On a collective level, the faction that cumulatively has the most points painted (as per relevant Codices and army lists) wins and becomes “Primus Inter Pares” i.e. the ETL Champion! In the first ETL the Black Templars emerged victorious totalling 45k pts, in the second ETL, the Dark Angels took their revenge totalling 58k pts while last two years it was Chaos who managed an overwhelming victory totalling an astounding 98k pts and 84k pts (66k adjusted for completion rate) respectively! So who will take the title this year? Remember: even a last minute hero may tip the balance! So what?So this is our chance to show that the Ork community on the Bolter and Chainsword may be small, but we’re passionate! From what Semper has said, all the Xenos forums will be one team. And I don’t know about you gits, but I ain’t going to let some pointy-eared panzees, toothy bugs, or metallic tin ‘eads show us up. Orks always pull their own weight!Personally, I have never participated in an ETL, despite having been a member for the entire time they’ve been run. But I am excited for this opportunity, which happens to fall on the exact right time for Orks. Seems likely that our Codex will probably land right in the middle of the event, providing ample opportunity and motivation at the best possible time! But our WAAAGH!!! is more like a waghYes, we’re a small community in the B&C. Yes, we cannot expect to compete with the established forums. But much like a WAAAGH!!! grows exponentially as more and more Orks flood to it, this is a chance for us to establish our community on these boards. Furthermore, the ETL factors completion percentage into the final score, so if we and the other Xenos manage to complete most or all of what we vow, there is always a possibility.More likely, we can just show up a forum that has been here longer. After all, an Ork never loses.Ok, what can we do?ETL works on making a vow, and completing it before the end date. You can check out this link to the previous ETL to get a much more in depth look at what you can expect. With permission, I’m plagiarizing some of the Blood Angels’ post, relying on Jolemai’s experience to make up for my complete lack of: The ETL VICaptain Semper has already hinted that basic rules will be the same as the previous years (albeit with an added xenos threat), however, he wont be drawn on which of the two historic start dates he is set to use. This means that we can assume the following: Challenge window 01/05/18 - 01/08/18 or 15/05/18 - 15/08/18. Regardless of what's selected, the first vow must be made within one calendar month of the start date Maximum vows to be five, maximum of 3000 points per vow, A new one can be made once you have completed the previous one. Any uncompleted vows nullify your entire points haul All models to be a legal Codex entry and WYSIWYG Two images - an unpainted/primed one and a completed one - are all the evidence you need (although more and participation is encouraged). These will need to be posted in the Stratagem thread when it goes live I’m going to focus on smaller vows, nowhere near that 3000 point mark. I think shooting for a high completion rate would show the rest of the board the Ork players are for real, and to that end, I’d encourage making manageable vows. You can always make additional vows (up to 5 total) if you find that the spirit of the competition has inspired you like an Imperator titan inspires a Mek.In addition, I’ve included some more of Jolemai’s wisdom: What Can I Do? Basically, we have between 3 and 5 weeks to get ready. Use this time to plan your vow(s) into manageable chunks and then get them finished modelling-wise and undercoated. For example, paint all your red models as one vow, your black models as another, vehicles as one, etc If you are magnetising, vow the expensive choice! Also, things like hunter-killer missiles count as they are WYSIWYG so add them to your vehicles even if it's via blu-tac! Remember that the level of completion is what you are comfortable with. For example, my gaming group requires a minimum of three base colours and for the model to be based in order for it to be considered battle ready. That's as far as I'll be going, though I may throw in some detail if needed (seriously - I can shade, and highlight when I have more time) Participate! Check our stratagem thread regularly, join in the with banter, check other threads for inspiration; ask, and be absorbed by the event. The ETL grafts together the whole website in one voice and with one goal and as with any online community, you get out of it what you put into it. We can do this! Start prepping those models, planning the vows, and get talking. Let’s build up our little community and showcase why Ork players are the best. As Ghazghkull said:“We iz gonna do this coz’ we’re Orks an’ we was made ta fight an’ win!” Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346206-the-orks-etl-vi-waaaagh/ Share on other sites

toaae
You know what? Pinned! Thank you! Personally, I've been working on my Blood Angels while waiting for our new codex, but I do have three Mek Gunz (KMKs) and crew ready to go, as well as a full mob of Stormboyz, Zagstrukk, and some Lootas and Burnas that I've been stripping paint off of. Throw in some boyz and a dredd, and I think I have my first vow. Warhead01
Good stuff! I've participated in several ETL's over the years. However, this time around I will be unable to commit to a lot of models. Most all of my army is basically painted now. Actually I could hold 3 trukks back for the event. But other than that I haven't anything right now. But. We'll see what can be done about that. Completing small vows is a solid plan to represent Da B&C WAAAAGH! Captain Semper
... and I see the Orks mobilise too! Great stuff, I really want to see how the Xenos will do in this their first ETL! Kaldoth
I actually do have a question Captain Semper! So, there is a pretty good possibility that our Codex will be dropping in the middle of ETL. Lets say I vow a unit of shoota boyz with a trukk for 150ish points. I complete the vow, the Codex drops, and because of Codex changes the unit now actually costs 140 points. Does the point value we vowed get updated? I only ask because pretty much everything in the Index is overcosted right now, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of point value changes when the Codex drops. I could definitely see 300 point vows going down to 200 point vows Or will we just keep the point values from the Index as vows are made, and once the Codex drops any vows made after that point use Codex values? Personally I would prefer the second option Cheers, -Kal Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346206-the-orks-etl-vi-waaaagh/#findComment-5055458 Share on other sites
Dragonlover
Traditionally, vows made before a new book drops keep the points they were vowed at because it's too much hassle updating everyone's stuff. Machine God
Traditionally, vows made before a new book drops keep the points they were vowed at because it's too much hassle updating everyone's stuff. Dragonlover Yes points pledged are at the points value of the current codex. When the new codex comes out the points are as that new codex, there is no retrospective change of points already pledged. This happened in previous ETL when for example the Space Marine Codex changed half way through. FlamingDeth
I’ll have to evaluate if I’ll even have the time available to even make a vow, as I’d hate to hurt the completion rate. If I do it’ll probably be all vehicles, as ork infantry aren’t exactly known for being high in points. If I do it’ll probably be all vehicles, as ork infantry aren’t exactly known for being high in points. Anything helps, as long as you can complete it. I don't think we should worry about how many points we can amass; we're a small sub-forum and our total points won't be high, especially as you point out, so much of our stuff is so cheap. But if we can get that high completion rate, and get as many people vowed for the WAAAGH!!! as possible, we'll have something to build on in the future. This cannot change even if an updated list comes out before the completion of a vow. However, all vows made after a new updated list is released then they must be priced according to the updated publication - with no option to use the outdated list. Da Kappin has an easy out if he wants to take it. Hear me out before you start shouting about how mad this is.. List the models by power level. Make it up to the pertinent to, by a given date, put in the correct points costs. Or don't it's just a pointless thought. Doesn't really matter anyhow for this subforum. Only completed models mater for as small as we are. 100% complete is more impressive that what ever points when there's only going to be a handful of Meks working on projects. This is a winning strategy, set goals you can accomplish and then set new goals after, keep the momentum going strong. Captain Semper
The high completion ratio is indeed highly important and can really influence the outcome of the ETL. (The other bit about the power levels, I didn’t quite understand ) I was kinda thinking power levels are fixed and haven't changed with the change of points costs so far. Just as a base line of costs for units to be vowed. Then no later than a given date, which you would set, the point costs would have to be dropped in for those vows by whoever made that vow. this was, in my head a way to cover down on points changes but as I said it's...pointless. ( which was also a PL joke...and I was expecting an 'I see what you did there...) It's early here, I need more coffee. +++++++++++Edit++++++++ Well. I just Ordered two boxed of Flash Gitz. So I will have more to vow after all. I am planning, maybe, to Order more Storm Boys next month. I need 7 more to fill out my next 30. It's a maybe. After that who knows. Going to be fun, then a pain, then probably fun again when I'm done. Haha! cool. They can be a lot of fun to paint or frustrating as I got a bunch pre owned from Ebay last ETL season, if I recall. I just noticed a particular Kappin half painted on my table. I'll add him to my ETL vow as well and get him finished. He's metal, that's how long I have neglected him. I know I need 1 or 2 more grots for my second mob from, again, last years ETL. so I expect I'll add them too. MY big thing is that most of my models are half finished so I don't plan to add them to the vows as they seem to me to be too far along. But it doesn't mean I can't paint them if the mood strikes me. as an along side competition thing. I do that kinda thing anyway. Fingers crossed for some tempting new dead killy plastic models with the codex! I don't expect it but we might get lucky.
