Today is that magical day where I actually post an update on my vow progress. First things first however, I purchased myself a desk lamp and daylight bulb so I could take better quality pictures (still being taken on my phone though) and paint with a consistent/constant light source. I just need to re adjust the area where I'm taking my pictures since it's also doubling up as my painting surface.

First up is a group shot of the my overall progress:

The following pictures are shots of individual unit progress. They'll be in spoiler tags to save on space and page loading times.

Magister-Captain Thaeron, a senior officer in Amon's 9th Fellowship, clad in his terminator armour:

At this point Thaeron is basically complete. He just needs basing and transfers adding for the mastery levels. The areas best suited for this are the flatter legs surfaces around the gold trim, arm guards, and the shoulders. This is because they are the most accessible.

Next up are the Sekhmet Terminator squad seconded to Thaeron's command as a bodyguard unit in addition to his Medjai command squad:

Finally the Ammitara squad Ocelot-9- last sighted conducting hit-and-run attacks on the Space Wolves in the Old Tizca district:

For the Ammitara I'm attempting to do urban camouflage on their cloaks, this is the first time I've attempted it and I'm reasonably happy with the first go at it. I'm also trying to incorporate blue into their colours as a line in Inferno makes reference to red and blue garbed warriors during the counter strikes launched against the Space Wolves.

I may have to revisit my old thread here in AoD, which I honestly thought would've been purged. Clearly it escaped into the Tizca portal network. As I have Amon and Magnus to show off at some point. Whilst it might also be a little early to say but I am considering some things for a potential vow #2.

@Archidamus, Nice work mate! Those daylight bulbs sure do help don't they? I like that Magister-Captain, keeps making me want to snap up some Thousand Sons myself. But most of all, those Ammitara squad cloaks are great. It really does add a neat spot colour and easily picks them out from any line legionnaire that just want to dress a little more fancy for the day. Frigging good on ya, can't wait to see 'em with basing too!

 

Aaaalright, well, I guess I'll toss up my progress. And lo, I can say, my First Vow is complete (to my satisfaction... at the moment. Who am I kidding, I'll almost certainly go back to fiddle with some bits and bobs or add an OSL somewhere because I get compulsive like that).

So yeah, now for a Vow 2 thought process, and a Vow 3, I guess. A Glaive or Mastadon may well be in the cards later on, but now I'm just waiting on an existing forge world order to get to my doorstep to get the second underway.

Ok so I'm super late to the party - not sure I'll get much more than one pledge done but here goes!

I Der H rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX with my Traitor Emperor's Children in the Age of Darkness and vow to complete 6 Scimitar Jetbikes as a Sky Hunter Squadron, with a sky Hunter Sgt with Phoenix power spear of total value 270 points on or before August 1st, 2018. Success will bring me eternal glory and failure will doom me to wear the Badge of the Oathbreaker and bring shame upon my Legion.

Vow 2.

I, Hyperion, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX on the side of the Warmaster in this Age of Darkness, and vow to complete a Tactical Squad of the Thousand Sons Legion, of total value 190 points on or before August 1st, 2018. Success will bring vindication to my Lord Magnus and destruction to the False Emperor ...failure will doom me to wear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end and the displeasure of Horus.

Tactical Squad (10 marines, power fist and artificer armour, nuncio vox, vexilla, chainblades).

@Heshman, Lovin' that purple, you don't see it enough in a lot of works, but it has that great lacquer finish to it. But man, those chains set it off right good. I've gotta start thinking about that for a spartan that may or may not be in the docket in the near future.

 

@Dreagher, love seeing lancers, and that's a pretty neat base. Got a closer snap shot by any chance mate? And waaarhound, god engines always get me.

 

@Hyperion, I love that someone's doing the old school M 'sons... and with mk.VI beakies -AND- converting with the master of signals helm. Ooomph, fekking great! I cannot wait to see the rest of that squad.

 

@Kizzddoooooougs, :cuss fantastic look. Man, I always have a really hard time even trying to add Cthonian glyphs to anything but you nailed the application so hard that I may cry. Like that apothecary biker (which I may so callously steal... I didn't have a clue what to do for a 30K apothecary before, but the white stripe elite 'alt' marking was superbly done. Oh, random question if ya got the time, how do you find chipping solution vs masking solution got stripes and the like?)

Hail, brothers!

 

Sacrifices have been made, and the Emperor's forces still amass and outnumber us. But we shall take the fight to them, smash their vaunted invulnerability, and bring the fight to the steps of the Imperial Palace!

 

In the name of the Warmaster, I, Vykes, marshal of the 65th, shall once more rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX on the side of the Age of Darkness to support the Warmaster's bid. For the glory of the Lupercal and his court, by the powers of change, I vow to raise a force of one half score and one, and four armoured vehicles.

  1. Anvillus Dradclaw Drop pod DP-229 has been repaired and pressed back into service (115).

  2. Damocles Rhino Clarion Call has been fully outfitted and reporting operational status (dozer blade=105)

  3. Two Proteus Land Raiders are being recovered from the Vulgarus campaign, one of which will make up the Raider squadron's command vehicle. (2 Land Raider Proteus, 1 Augery Exploratory Web, 2 Twin heavy bolters, 2 Dozer blades=460)

  4. Ten Assault Legionnaires of Squad Harrier are purportedly escorting an important personage and are inbound on the Vaunted Light (10 legionnaires, sergeant power fist, 2 plasma pistols=220)

  5. Lord, the master of the XVIIth legion has requested an audience. (Lorgar Transfigured=450)

 

The forces raised have a requisition index of 1350, and I vow to have these forces at the Warmaster's disposal on or before 01 583 018 M.3 (August 1st of antiquity). Success will bring me eternal glory, failure will doom me to wear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

 

Into the fire, unto ash, onto glory! Lupercal!

Heh, the rest just made its way through customs, and I figure that even if there's an order problem, I'm planning on making another FW order within the week. So that should be ample time to get this all sorted by August.  I had been slowly priming these few things up over the past week-ish with some other projects, but I figured 'meh'.   And no, by the will of the Warmaster, this shall not be a final vow either. ... as for Lorgar, I've been toying with Word Bearers as a potential legion project after the 65th.

Thanks bro! I've only ever used chipping fluid so I can't really comment on the masking fluid. I just used tape and blue-tack to mask off the tripes on the Apothecary and Praetor. I didn't have any trouble with the chipping fluid. I just varnished the base colour so that I wouldn't damage it with the chipping, sprayed on a couple of coats of the chipping fluid, and then painted the white stripes over the top. I then used a paint brush to spread some water over the top of the white stripe (once it had had plenty of time to dry), and started chipping away. I finished it all off with a coat of gloss varnish to seal and protect the white stripe :smile.:

In order to support our cause, I consider L-ADX-cd-MARS-Quintessence-[Necare Modification]-I-XII-011a-2/97: VS/TK/K, also known as the warhound titan Nusudea finished (only tabletop ready, but more isn't possible at the moment).

My next vow will be a bit smaller, but should be finished faster because of that.

 

In the name of the Warmaster, I, Dreagher, shall once more rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX on the side of the Age of Darkness to support the Warmaster's cause. In order to breach the defences the emperors lapdogs have put up, I vow to complete

1 Moriat (MB, 2xPlasma pistol, Artificer armour, refractor field) 170

2 Predators (autocannon, lascanon sponsons) 230

and to strenghten our bonds with Sarum

1 Praevian (AA, boarding shield, combiweapon, thunderhammer) 145

1 Castellax (Grenades, enhanced targetting, 2xflamers, power-blades) 145

1 Magos Prime (Augury Scanner, Chainfist, Cortex Controller, Cyber-familiar, 3x Cyber-occularis, Djinn-skein], Graviton Imploder, Infravisor, Mastercraft a single weapon, Mechanicum protectiva, Myrmidax, Paragon Blade, Phased Plasma-fusil, Rad Grenades) 340

for a total of 1030 points on or before 01 583 018 M.3. Success will bring me eternal glory, failure will doom me to wear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end and bring me at the mercy of Angron.

Thanks a ton, Kizzdougs mate! I'm toying with the chipping fluid now and it's a bit different than I'm used too. More practice, more models! That's what that means, right? Man, masking fluid is this kinda liquid blue tac... great to remove unless it gets in a crease. Then there's no end to the sacrifices needed to appease the dark gods to get it off.

 

Dreagher. Man, niiicely done with the warhound, and particularly that knight base. Definitely using it to its potential! Love the water in particular. Really sets off the scale. How's the Resin knight's balance, if you don't mind me asking? They always looked horrifyingly top heavy. Can't wait to see the rest of that new vow, too! They look like they'll be a ton of fun to watch! For the glory of the Bloody Twelfth!

 

Hyperion, you did that model right proud! Seriously, no join lines, super clean, fantastic work! And as for superheavies... yeeeez, yeeez it is good to see. And there shall be more to join the final assault on the Throne World!

 

Aaalright, my 24 hour update is right about on time, and I've been pretty busy.

 

 

Dreadclaw DP-229 is now active. (I hate putting those things together... they hate me, and there's no real estate space to put proper decals on, and my microset spilled so now I'm out! Gah, woe is me, I have angered a warp xeno somehow).
