Why is the Stormtalon pilot green? For contrast, so he's easily seen when the cockpit canopy is mounted in place?

The idea is that the light from the Stormtalon's screens throws light at the pilot, so he appears green.

The green light would actually have a completely different effect on red armor. Red armor would absorb most of the green light and the result would be between a really dark green and completely black, except for the areas where specular reflection happens. :happy.:

Physics aside, the effect looks really nice! Artistic freedom is definitely OK for creating such a nice looking models, especially in the world of 40k where normal rules of physics don't apply :biggrin.:

Thanks for that information Kaese! This I hadn't found in my searches. I'll think about it. However I'm glad that the light reflected from the red apple actually appears green. So the green glow is still valid in a way for armor with some sheen... Good food for thought!

Interesting thought that...

I guess you could paint him red, airbrush the core glow area with white and then do a broader pass with a transparent green. If you really wanted to do all that on a pilot :-)

Not like I can talk - I’ve fully detailed rhino interiors that have never been opened.

Traditional brush only! :D

I've run out of decals and didn't have time to free-and something on him. :ermm:
I'm currently thinking whether I'm able to make another ETL vow in the coming 9 days before I'm off on holiday. However I will continue work on all those guys after that. Apart from the chapter insignia, also the scrolls, lights and sensoria need some attention.

My final ETL VI vow - the 10th Company scout bikers.

These are still very nice models even after all those years since they were first released. It's also fantastic that in 8th edition they can use ALL the guns they have in the sprue :biggrin.:

A little glimpse to what they looked like just before the work:

The Sergeant:

The specialist scout:

The regular scout:

And a little group photo:

I still need to give them proper Chapter and Company insignia.

It's been a while and I'm slowly coming back to modelling and painting after a little break forced by post-ETL-VI-real-life. I've started working through the Knight sprues planning where I will put magnets.
But that aside, I have also begun working on the Aggressors as I got 3 sets of those from the Tooth&Claw sets. I've already said that they are awful models in terms of conversion potential. Unless you are prepared to green-stuff the ammo belts. If I get desperate (and I just might) I will do just that.
For now I have decided to build first 3 using the manual with only superficial changes.

Here is the sergeant with added Centurion head (barely managed to fit it inside the hood), the arm-pit shield from the Primaris Upgrade sprue and the spare shoulder pad from Blood Angel Terminator set.
Oh, and I have chosen the chalice-thing to be dangling from his belt. I must say that I was very happy to find that one in the basic sprue. It needed some trimming with the knife of course. However thanks to this I managed to get at least the feeling that I'm converting something

Another thing little project is the Kill Team.
For this I have chosen 3 Intercessors and a Sergeant that I've painted for the ETL VI. Sarge got new power sword (had chainsword before). Additionally I have added a HB devastator (Tactical Marine Gunner) and built Reiver Sergeant and regular Reiver. Here is how they look at the moment:

I've decided to hold on a bit with painting in order to join the RTS as part of the Golden Host. To this end I have dug out a beautiful TDA Chaplain model from my Pile of Shame

med_gallery_105306_14251_47541.jpg
I have begun working on this fellow some time ago (2-3 years): built a base (shattered stone plates made of plastic), basecoated, started highlighting the armor, started working on the scroll,... I can't really remember why I didn't finish him :blush.: And this is such a great model!

Anyway, the plan is to repaint the black armor adding a little bit of blue to the black. This way highlighting with blues will look much better. I haven't decided on the color of the helmet lenses yet. Original idea was for them to be red in order to tie the guy better into the red ranks of his charges. I'll probably stick with that although the idea of a cold, merciless blue also crossed my mind.

The 5th won a solid victory against the Eldar Yesterday.
It was a casual 1500pts game where both my opponent and me were shaking the rust off and trying some new things.

Forces on the field:

Mission was "Big guns never tire" with "Search and Destroy" deployment. Lots of ruins on the board providing ample cover and LoS blocks. We placed 4 objectives (one in each quarter of the table) which would count at the end of the game.

I've started working on the Knight some time ago, but only recently it started taking some actual shape in my mind. This evening I've finally gone through most building and magnets-placing so I can present how he will look like bare-bones. Standing on some long-time fallen dreadnought (gonna be Black Legion). The tiles on the base are there to represent a road of some long-destroyed civilisation on a war-torn world.
No name, history or even actual loadout decided yet :tongue.:

I've actually magnetized almost everything: face plates, base, hatch, weapons, rocket types... Up the point were I took under consideration magnetizing the purity seals as well. Definitely need some sleep now :smile.:

I pity the Dreadnought whose frame now decorates the Knight's base.

Yes. This is a spare librarian dreadnought front plate left from the Furioso kit (from which a DC dread came out). Had no other use of it apart form selling as I already had one librarian front plate in my bitz box. The libby dread when I get to it, will be based on the contemptor frame, but that's a project still in the planning phase.

Here is how it looks like on the base:

med_gallery_105306_14251_81182.jpg

Even though it would be barely visible from under the Knight's foot, I removed the "Alatus Cadere" and trimmed the scrolls so they could be painted as bones or something similar. The book is OK as it can represent the Book of Lorgar. On the front I added the demonic face and some tubing I got along with a used chaos Predator re-sanctified to serve the Emperor. Fortunately it wasn't far gone, however it still requires occasional cleansing... but I digress.

Your Terminator Chaplain is well done, but why is his armor gray instead of the traditional black?

It's only the lighting. The armor is black only highlightes with blue-grays toward almost pure white. As you can see I'm experimenting with the way I take pictures. A good note for me to check how blacks come out.

Edit: actually the background is also black in reality. Definitely need to work on this :)
