Hey folks! Nothing big, but I'm happy to paint again.
A regular backpack for my Corbulo/Sanguinary Priest for WYSIWYG when JP stays at home:

The damm thing was poorly primed with a spray can, so the surface was pretty rough and it shows in places. Still from table perspective it will look more than adequate. And battle damage goes a long way in distracting viewer from the worst places ;)

A SS/PS Indomitus Lieutenant is currently on my desk in terms of BA-related stuff. And Mephiston. However I'm strongly considering taking a shot at bike Chaplain next.

Cheers!

Thanks Xenith! I'm happy you like those :D

I noticed I started using more yellow on my models and I like it. It may be that I'm somehow preparing myself subconsciously to do yellow helmets on Reivers ;) But I do belive that yellows can add some nice colour variety while not pushing the overall look into the orange hues too much. If anything it supports the browns that form the majority of shadows.

Did the Indomitus Lieutenant for my Daemonbanes:

With that, all that is left for me to paint from the the SM part of the Indomitus box is the Captain, yay! :biggrin.:

EDIT: rest of my text got scattered in the warp apparently.

I'm fairly happy with my marble attempt on the shield. While it's not nearly as good as the through-the-wet-wipes-spray our dear keebleartillery does (man, I love your works!), it's good enough for a brush-job on such a limited space that the shield offers.

Winged helmet is nice, hower it has a rather rough surface at places and it shows a bit. Definitely it caused some troubles during painting.

The shield on the halo... well I'm not that content with it. I was trying hard to make it something different than another chalice/blood-drop variant, but perhaps I tried too hard in the end. It's not bad, but I think I wanted something more. Perhaps the lion head should have been in some shade of green or turqoise? I'll leave it as it is for the moment though.
Pretty happy with the Company marking on the right shoulder guard.

I also did some mising edge-highlights and varnishing on the Assault Intercessors, but there's really not much to show off about in that area.

Tell me what you think about the Lieutenant, cheers! :smile.: Edited by Majkhel

I really like the right arm. It's a swap right? Shooting from behind the shield, very cool!

Cheers! The part below the elbow is his own. Attached to some random bolter-holding shoulder and repositioned.

Yeah, I have quite a few Bladeguard built like they're fighting in a shield-wall :biggrin.: All based on the Indomitus bodies.

Here he is without the shoulder pad attached:

Great model, apart from the excellent paintjob, I particularly like the pose and the shield in the Iron Halo (I'm not familiar with Primaris bits, but it seems to be custom-made). The winged helmet is also a great touch - it has a bit of a Warcraft 3 vibe to it.

Thank you guys! :)

Cristopher, the shield itself is from the Primaris Intercessors if I'm not mistaken - it has one plain small shield like that. It was then slapped onto the Bladeguard backpack halo.
The winged helmet is from Puppetswar. It's a liiiiiittle bit on the small side compared to GW heads. Fortunately the wings mask that pretty well. You're right it does indeed raise some Warcaft vibes (although I finished my education on this topic on Warcraft 2 :P )

Good to be on the roll :biggrin.:
Here is my take on the Primaris Chaplain on bike:

I'm surprised how "fast" I managed to paint him (under 5 days). Don't get me wrong - I still don't like painting black, but I think I managed to finally find a way of painting it that suits me. In short, I followed the Marco Frisoni's proposal for his Black Templar that was painted using warm and cool shades of black. While Marco uses 3 shades, I limited myself to 2 for a start, but the very idea opened some locked part of my brain and the method just clicked into place.
Might still retouch some transitions (as pictures are unkindly pointing out), but I'm overall very happy with the final result. Especially since I had such a blast converting and embellishing the mini :tongue.: Edited by Majkhel

That's a great conversion! I got some of the piecestoo, I'll keep it in mind for a future project.

Thanks for dropping a comment, Spyros! Sure, help yourself :smile.:

I've had a little break to organise my hobby stuff a bit and got back to my original plan for 2021 in order to identify what should I tackle next. Came out that (as expected) I did a lot of side-stuff so now it's time for some push towards completion of the 5th Company. It's good that I managed to complete a Lieutenant but I need more actual meat - another 5 Heavy Intercessors. I already assembled and primed them over the weekend. Once they are done. I will have place to add 4 more bodies (curse those Primaris 3/6 man squads).

Currently my 5th composition looks like this:

HQ: Captain (several of them actually for different loadout options) + Lieutenant

1st squad Intercessors (10)

2nd squad Intercessors (5)

3rd squad Heavy Intercessors (6) (10 planned)

4th squad Infiltrators (10)

5th squad Incursors (10)

6th squad Assault Intercessors (10)

7th squad Outriders (3)

8th squad Inceptors (dakka) (6)

9th squad Devastators (10)

10th squad Hellblasters (10)

11th squad Aggressors (6)

16th squad Inceptors (plasma) (6)

In terms of HQ, I'm missing Ancient and possibly a Company Champion and another Lieutenant

I'm also firmly on the side that Company Command (Captain, Lieutenant(s), Ancient and Champion) do not count towards the codex 100-marines designation. Even though Champion and Ancient (and possibly at least one Lieutenant) are most probably chosen from among the Company numbers.

Options I see for now are:

- 3-man unit of something (Outriders/Aggressors) and end at 99 marines + HQ

- 5-man unit of Intercessors to flesh-out 2nd squad or another 5-man unit of something else (maybe we'll get the flamer Intercessors that were announced for BT?) and end at 101 marines + HQ

:huh.:

Yeah, I don't get the primaris model number limit restrictions either, I'd love to run a 3 units of 10 eliminators with my RG  :biggrin.: .

Ha, that would indeed be both awesome and scary :D

I'm betting Imperial Fists with their exploding 6's on Bolters might also really like the idea ;)

I admit my current gripe with this is mostly considering the fluff. The way we actually field our units in games is quite another matter and subject to the changing rules. Like currently it's generally more beneficial to field up to 5-man squads anyway to impact the number of shots opponents get on Blast weapons and to reduce losses from attrition tests. And even if we do field 10-man squads, we often combat-squad them for that same reason.

I'm guessing some of that limit comes from the way they designed their new sprues perhaps?

I agree with the fluff argument too, just thought I'd point out the 30 eliminator thing I'd love to do. I would also agree with the supposition that the limit is based on how kits are designed (at least mostly, some 3 man boxes are limit 3, some are limit 6).

First of the 5 Heavy Intercessors is done:

I switched my painting mode to one-at-a-time. This seems to work for me at the moment as some steps like building layers and especially edge-highlighting (Gravis armour........) across 5 models had a tendency of quickly burning out motivation. With single model, steps go quicker and change more often. Easier to make interesting decisions too. Overall quality also goes up I think although I'm not impervious to mistakes. Like the blue helmet on the ground :teehee:

I still have no idea how did I end up painting it blue. Clearly must have been some Blue Horror incursion nearby (definitely seems like something of Tzeentch's design). I noticed the fact that it's blue instead red only after I put the final highlights. It came out pretty well so decided to leave it like that and make a backstory out of it - a Fire Support specialist who is a sole survivor of his squad got absorbed into a Battleline squad to replace another casualty during an extended campaign. He kept his helmet blue to honour his fallen brothers.
To follow up with the theme, he also got a blue 'Heavy Support' chevron on his backpack.

I'm really happy with the build as I think I managed to move it considerably away from the original Heavy Intercesors' pose designs. I wanted to create a marine in the thick of the fighting. He got the grenade holding arm and the pointing-arm, which got it hand replaced for a metal one with a bolt pistol I had in my bitz box. I also painted as many nicks and scratches as I dared on him.

Hope you like him :smile.:
