Xin Ceithan
Chaos. It has been called the Primordial Truth. As it turns out, that is quite accurate. For me, at least. Since joining the B&C, I have dabbled in other..Things. I have tried to upkeep clever Project logs. I have spread my painting across Sub Forums. And left them there as the Things from beyond the Veil vied for my attention again. I have dipped my toes into Mechanicus… and it goes dark… I still think it needs more Spikes. and gets sidelined by other Things. Mostly spikey Things. Chaos. It happens to my painting table. Quite frequently. And all this crazy stuff lately. Necromunda. Titanicus. I even tried my Hand at Shadow War. Shadow War Badab. It has traitors. Well, almost… Then Chaos happens. Sooner or later, the B&C will issue the Call. And everything turns dark and spikey. Again. So, let the great Purge return my derelict blog attempts to be dissolved by the Primordial Annihilator. From now on, I shall channel my otherwordly painting efforts in this ongoing Prayer thread as i walk the Eightfold Path... and as the Great Wheel turns and the Eye opens, Let the Galaxy burn! Shudder at what is coming …. firestorm40k, Kizzdougs, Pearson73 and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351022-on-the-breaking-of-worlds-walking-the-eightfold-path/ Share on other sites
Pearson73
No one remains pure for ever, brother, the Gods mark us all. A really nice range of models there, I particularly like the chainfist/flamer of the terminator lord; the metallic painting of the Maulerfiend and the Ogre conversion. Looking forward to seeing more. Xin Ceithan
Bit of "Road to Killteam" update here… With Killteam just around the Corner back then and the Shadow War Badab Competition some time ago, I thought that it was a good opportunity to get some painting going again… I also wanted to look into a few ideas for the Primaris in the DI box but -as usual- drifted between several chapters. Having the Option to choose from the current and RT era Colours didn`t help. In the end, I thought Executioners too "lazy" for a Competition (i like doing metals) and Carcharadons too daunting. The fact that there are several quite impressive versions of both chapters around the board already came into Play here also. (e.g. Malchy`s White Faces and Valrak`s lot), So, I was determined to look into Mantis Warriors. As usual, I got in way over head - especially after I developed the idea of combining both heraldries. My idea was to use the current Colours on the warplate and have the Tranquility pattern camo on, well, camo cloaks. Thus I aimed at creating a small killteam made from Tranquility Veterans. I seriously underestimated greenstuffing camo cloaks - which made me fail the Deadline. It vastly increased my meagre GS skills however, which will feature in my take of Pox Walkers later on. The pics are not great. I did themmostly to referenceprogress and get some overview. I still like the idea and may use it on some Primaris some day. They are also a bit too Astra Militarum in those hushed Colours to my taste.... Still, I got some nice experience with this shade of green from something called "Mecha Colour". It didn`t quite turn out to be the Vibrant green I was after for the Mantis Warriors, but it feels just for my Death Guard... Brother-Chaplain Kage
I'd definitely say Chaos has its hooks into. As someone who played Warmachine for a while, there's a bit too much helljack in that magos conversion for my taste, but everything else looks great. May I humbly suggest an alternative for your cloaks? Xin Ceithan
Thanks for the heads up . That is a really well done tutorial there, especially in regard to the folding of the fabric. I will certainly give it a try. Actually, I think a lot of what kept me from finishing my Magos was that I felt it needed some robes but didn't want to drown the model in green stuff ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351022-on-the-breaking-of-worlds-walking-the-eightfold-path/#findComment-5187522 Share on other sites
Brother-Chaplain Kage
Thanks, and I hope it's useful. I like the technique because it's much more forgiving than greenstuff and makes cloth much closer to scale thickness. Xin Ceithan
While stompy robots and other Things have also been taken some of my Attention, I have been green stuffing two "PoxWalkers" for my Killteam…. Progress is slow, but slow and Steady has paved the way to way to Victory for the Death Guard for millenia! So, I think it is only fitting here as well. I have chosen to stay with GS on this…. mostly because it has been to Cold and I did not want to work with glue soaked tissues in a closed space… There is a broken gasmask thingy missing in that second walker`s face. I might have to redo that…. making Holding clamps from GS is on my current learning to do list. The idea is that these two were part of some Guild or Magos biologis First Response Team to the infection brought along by the Death Guard. Their protection gear was obviously not up to the challenge... Xin Ceithan
With the ETL coming up, I am looking to please the Ruious Powers and contribute something.... Heroically resisting the lure of buying more unpainted plastic, I have decided to refocus on my Death Guard project. My Killteam is gestating slowly (which is kind of fittiing) but enough beyond Priming to bring into the ETL. Then I recalled I still have an old full metal Nurgle Prince primed…. I never liked the head but felt my GS skills were not up to the Task. Given more recent experiences, I made some sort of faceplate and rebreather. As yet undecided if I going for a cowl also.. .or some more appendages from the lower faceplate…. The original idea was too use the wings of a Zombie Dragon... but I actually used those elsewhere in the mean time. I also wanted a more bloated and industrial look. Thus, the three Booster type Jumppack Fusion solution. Obviously, very early WIP here. I Need to fill the gasps and built some organic and machinecomponents around it. I am also happy if anyone has some advice for sculpting fans on the Jet intakes. But all C&C is welcome! Xin Ceithan
Some WIP to Keep the ball rolling…. Working with the old chunky metal mini has renewed my appreciation for the plastics kits i also decided to give the Kind advice from Brother chaplain Kage a try here and have begun sculpting some cowl. Also some tubing and nurgly stuff added. The fleshmetal exhaust ports have been opened also. Some more dteail work will have to wait till everything has dried. not sure about adding the vestigal wings I originally envisioned….will see how it adds up as this Thing develops. C & C welcome as always! Xin Ceithan
I have green stuffed most of the Jump Pack.... in the end. using GS to sculpt some jet intake things was the easest solution. Godd thing it`s warp touched and Nurgle, too. I am far from sleek and clean lines here. Once this its dry, I will go on to clean up the neck area and front. Xin Ceithan
So, stuff happened in the real world….be smart -Never go there !:P But I have finally found some time to get some paint on my Daemon Prince... here are a couple of WIP shots. Highlights are not yet done... The skin / metal flux phase needs some work.... and the metals need some shading and some more texture to the rusted edges.... Finding the right recipe für greyish-green is half the fun. but I quite like the armour parts! and there is still some assembly required. C&C welcome as always! robofish7591, Brother Lunkhead, Sgt. Xin Ceithan
Oh,it has been a while since I posted here.... so, I figure I urgently need to put up a few WIPs Since the last Call of Chaos, I decided to try my hand at a test model for a warband of "The Pure" from ADB`s excellent "Emperor`s Spears": Everybody and their servitor seems to be doing Spears these days, I thought I try to dabble in tainted white power armour... and verdigris. Which is always fun. As always, C&C is most welcome! Xin Ceithan
I have dabbled in "Back to Badab" in the meantime, which isn*t quite spiky. Or at least my contribution isn`t, so there has been no post here. With the current Lockdown Event, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to get some more obviously chaos related stuff in: I had been tempted to do the Noise marine basically every time the Call of Chaos came around since it`s release, but I wanted to take my time. it is really a nice mini and I wanted to Focus on the Details. Also trying to get the marble effect on the parts is still a bit work as I have too look stuff up I like and get a sense of the Colours I do like how the leather partswork out The Facemelter! Xin Ceithan
So, first of all, i am happy to report that I indeed finished my Noise Marine for the Lockdown Challenge back then! but forgot to post... so you get the original finish proof... ...and some close ups... These always remind me how blotchy my painting is... :( .but going back on a mini that I did finish as part of a challenge always seems a bit of cheating to me :P Anyway.... Hobby time been sparse this year, and sadly, lacking a certain focus for some time. After drifting around some ideas and stalking other people`s projects, i am quite thrilled to report that there has been some progress - a big thanks to our fraters Apologist and Kordhal, who kindly not only tolerated my ramblings but provided me with a corner of their escellent Edgeworlds setting to play with. I am already cooking up some fluff and narrrative at the moment and aim to have some more finished models in a seperate blog but here are at least some teaser pics ;) ....of those who can feel the song of the screaming maw..... .... and those who have always felt the call of the deep....
