Barners SW Primaris Progress

Added a lot of studs (1mm ball-bearings) to his armour as I like the ancient look it gives.  Also added a shield to the rear of the bike to be more of a mud guard, will add more support to it as I start to paint as I will break this apart and paint in subsections.

Parts rundown:

  • Outrider bike and body, with Aquila removed from the chest.
  • Removed Assault symbol from left arm
  • AoS Chaos Axe with 3d printed wolf skulls on the axe head (will add wolf tail to pommel later).
  • Cast Pelt from SW TWC added to left Should pad with extra rune stone and wolf teeth added.
  • Head is from Norse Blood Bowl Team with a neck brace made from a SM Helmet.
  • Cast Grey Hunters symbol on the left side of bike housing.
  • Pelt and Skull from Venerable Dred' kit on to the right of bike housing.
  • Cast Wolf Skull on top of bike housing.
  • Norse Blood Bowl Team marker added as a ram/figure head on bike front.
  • SW Storm Shield added as rear mud guard.
  • Left arm will have Wulfen Forearm armour added to beef it up (not shown).

Still in the middle of having major work done to the house so I don't have a hobby room at the moment, but I did do a bit of playing around with the Boar I got recently.  Thunder Wolves are just a bit too small for Priamris, so I wanted something bigger.  This is an Orc Boar Rider and my plan was to remove the legs and add Primaris, but the legs had a kinda Terminator Armour feels, so I played with adding Primaris body and it was too small so I went for the whole Orc body and I loved his flowing hair, but he has a definite orc face, so that needed to be hidden.

Parts rundown:

Wulfen shoulder pad used as forearm armour.

Halberd blade chopped up to look more frost weapon.

Custom Wolf Skulls added to Halberd Head.

Orc jaw bone added to face to cover up orc mouth and teeth.

Green Stuff wolf pelt added to bum area.

Custom Wolf Necklace.

Pop Goes the Monkey Termie shoulder pad (hard to see the detail in the pic).

Green Stuff wolf pelt added under shoulder pad

Custom Space Wolf Backpack.

Still to do:

Custom Wolf Head on right Shoulder pad.

Wolf Tail on the pommel of Halberd.

Executioner Axe strapped to Backpack.

Shield over left hand.

Pouches and a holstered pistol (thinking Volkite Charger, has to be a real hand canon because he is a hulking brute).

Might re-work the boars tail as I think it should be more horizontal when he is at full charge.

Rune stones and trinkets in the furs and on the Boar.

Tidy up Green Stuff furs

Might add a Chaos Marine to the base being charged down.

wow. Very jealous of what you're doing here.

I'm always searching for bits to accomplish some of what you're doing here. I particularly love what you've done with the rider. That a lot of work.

Thanks!

The boar and most of the custom bits here come from Dynamic Print Studios, I worked with them a few years back to create the Wolf Necklaces and trinkets.  The guys there are super helpful and will scale stuff up as required (I have about 5 different wolf skull sizes from them right up to versions for my Joytoy figs).  Also whenever I can get hold of Wulfen spares I hoover them up as there is so many great bits.

When I finished up my super hero landing guy yesterday, I realised it had been almost 2 years since I started work on him.  I seem to have this habit of almost completing a piece and then not taking the final steps, I think in my head I've not done a good enough paint job and don't want to finish it.  That was certainly true with the transition from metal exhaust to Ork Skull.

I wanted it to look like his landing had smashed the rock with his fist, but not sure it comes across that well, as I'm writing this I realise I should have used an armour plate being smashed, then I would have had more contrast (maybe I'll re-base him), anyway here is "Superhero landings are hard on the knees":

The question on how to paint Hounds of Morkai got me to thinking, so I started work on one to show my colour scheme, but couldn't find a Reiver body in my bits box, however an assault guy will fit the bill for my purposes.  Parts run-down:

3d printed wolf skull hacked around to make a mask on a SW head.

Removed Aquila from the chest.

Trimmed down the collar to allow the head to be posed better.

Added a handle to the pistol holster.

Added 3d printed wold skull to the assault rifle.

Swapped bolt pistol for assault rifle.

Swapped combat knife for a dwarf axe.

Got hold of the new Terminators, so this is the start of a SW Assault Cannon totting dude.

Removed Aquila from the chest.

Removed Terminator Honours icon from his belt (why would he need that anyway?).

Removed skull & crossbones from Assault Cannon housing.

I want use the ammo pack and belt from the old kit, may have to create a new belt, but we shall see.

Pretty much finished 4 of the new Terminators, the 5th is causing me a headache, been through double axes, axe & shield, poleaxe chain-axe, nothing looks amazing.  Anyway here are the mostly finished pieces:

Love the outrider, The Termies look amazing and as usual you conversions are awesome.  how are you finding the new Termies size wise.

Ah thanks man!

I am really liking the new termie size, most of the close combat weapons fit and don't feel dwarfed, my only gripe would be SW termie shields are too small, but I thought they were too small for the old size models before. The new storm bolter feel right, they feel big, bulky and boxy like they should, the new separate barrels are a great touch.
