Eworm_Jim
Hi! I'm new here and, since I'm more a collector than a player, I wanted to open my first topic in this section. The purpose of this topic is to keep track of the progress of my chaos armies. I'm hoarding lots of stuff to paint and I began to hobby two years ago (less than one year for 40k), so helpful suggestions are welcome (either for painting or converting). Also, I'm not sticking to any specific army list (besides kill team), so I'm including models that right now only serve as decoration or background. Here, the updated state of my armies. DEATH GUARD - Poxwalker horde (16) - Plague marine bolter squad (7) - Plague marine heavy squad (5) - Plague marine CC squad (2) - More plague marines (11) - Lord of Contagion - Poxwalker king - Pestilence giant - Blghtlord terminators (5) - Dreadnought - Bloat-drones (2) - Plague Surgeon - Plague Sorcerer - Noxious Blightbringer - Foul Blightspawn - Epidemius conversion - Plagueburst Crawler - Blight-Haulers (3) BLACK LEGION - Cultists (20) - Chosen (12) - Chaos Lord (2) - Chaos Beastmen (2) - Hellbrute THOUSAND SONS - Rubric marines (10) - Heresy Ahriman - Tzaangors (3) EMPEROR'S CHILDREN - Daemonettes (20) - Medusa/Daemon Princess NOTE: ---- (Can be played) ---- (Assembled/converted but still not painted) Well, I'm introducing the death guard work until this point. I bought some second hand kits of "Know No Fear" box and the "First Strike" box for a kill team. They were latter expanded with the Battleforce box and keeps growing with the Warhammer Conquest collection. Since it also was my first time with a spray primer, I didn't want to risk and began with poxwalkers. I basically followed the GW youtube tutorial, without much focusing on details. I also tried a homemade basing on them. I had a half-painted goblin king model (from The Hobbit) that I bought time ago. I decided to paint it also as a huge poxwalker with a bit more detailed base. I didn't like the scepter, so I'm planning to replace it for a whip. As if he were "hurrying" the slow poxwalkers. I cannot imagine which unit from the DG codex can depict, but it looks good and I liked that model a lot. For the plague marines, I "convinced" one friend to paint me 5 of them (enough for any possible kill team with the pox). I assembled 9 plague marines with diverse weapon options and the LoC, and tried to paint them using the former 5 as models. There are still some details missing (like nihilakh oxide) but there are mostly finished. I'm struggling with the amount of details of these models. I will wait for the rest of plague marines to base them and completely finish them all. Lord of Contagion is also finished. I plan a more detailed base for him. Maybe a loyal model on the floor mixed with some poxwalker or ghoul parts, suffering transformation. Still not sure. Next step is keep assembling more plague marines. From the multipart box I'd specially like the fly head, which will be the head of one of my plague champions. I will need some kitbashing with the monopose models in order to include all weapon options on the box. Also, there are two big models to paint. A resin dreadnought (FW recast I bought on second hand), and a third party model called "Pestilence". It's way taller but looks awesome and fits with the concept of Death Guard. I will change the base for a 40mm one and include some decoration bits. Maybe it could work as a second Lord of Contagion or a custom character for a narrative campaign. Bjorn Firewalker
Your painting skills are most admirable, especially on the Plague Marines and the Lord of Contagion. How will you decorate their bases? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/354445-spreading-chaos-in-all-its-forms/#findComment-5273749 Share on other sites
Eworm_Jim
Your painting skills are most admirable, especially on the Plague Marines and the Lord of Contagion. How will you decorate their bases? Thanks! I'm planning to do something similar to the poxwalkers' bases: a homemade mixture similar to stirland battlemire with some puddles of nurgle's rot. I can add some dead bodies or nurglings, especially on characters. There's not much room on plague marines 32mm bases. Eworm_Jim
Well, it has been a long time since the first post. Some updates. First, I have to introduce two new members to the Plague Marine family. These were the last bodies from the box set but I still have some spare extra weapons and heads (such as the plague cleaver). So, I need to begin converting Dark Imperium models or manage somehow to find new "unique" bodies. Another new addition is this resin plague dreadnought. I'm not sure if I'll ever use it. But well, the Death Guard army keeps increasing. Also, in order to rest some time from Death Guard and to open new kill teams possibilities, I painted a squad of Rubric Marines. (Yes. I have a problem with bases in general. I need to finish all of them as soon as possible.) Currently I'm finishing two Bloat-Drones. One is magnetized in order to change the whole set of weapons. The other is a conversion of the Dark Imperium model. I used part skaven Dreadfleet boat as a head, crypt ghoul arms to make it creepier, and a lot of green stuff With less work deadlines and trips on the next weeks I hope to finish most of my pending models soon.
