Codex: Space Marines 2.0 speculation & discussion

Dunno if it's been talked about already, but have I understood it correctly that normally, a chaplain knows only one Litany?

As I understand it he knows Litany of Hate (I think that's what it's called - the re-roll misses in melee) and one additional Litany.

Dang. GW needs to FAQ all Index and previous Codex options not in the Supplements or new Codex to have the Angels of Death Key word or else any of those options take away the Combat Doctrines special rule.

This is potentially a big problem.

For units not yet updated in their supplement, I agree that this is prudent, but I could see the Index options being abandoned.

That is correct.

I am not worried about Thunderhammers on Characters. You won’t have “Smash-Captains” anymore.

Vanguard Sergeant + 1CP master crafted + librarian -Fury of Ancients, = 5x Thunder hammer attacks at 4x damage at str 10

Intercessor Sergeant + 1 CP Veteran +1 attack + 1CP master-crafted + librarian - fury of ancients = 6x Thunder hammer attacks at str 10 4 dmg

In both instances with White Scars it’s 5 damage

You mean strength 9 right. You multiply before you add.
You add to stats first. Then you multiply the weapon damage. It’s laid out in the Designer’s Commentary FAQ

Ah it's because it's coming off the weapon that it gets bumped to the back of ther order

What does the Fury of Ancients + Librarian do to add another attack? Same with the Master-Crafted stratagem?

I believe that they're confusing Fury of the Ancients with Might of Heroes (which gives +1 S/T/A to a single model). Master Crafted Weapon is a Special Issue Wargear option (basically a Relic for Successors, and still an option for First Foundings) that gives a weapon +1 Damage.

FotA gives another attack for 6 in total. Cant find any info on this master crafted relic option though as it looks interesting.

FotA is a psychic power that does Mortal Wounds to enemies; Might of Heroes gives S/T/A to a friendly model

Master Crafted is in the supplements: I believe it's in both the UM and WS ones, per the reviews, so it's likely going to be a universal option. It's not in the core Codex: Space Marines.

Hmm ok I see. So veteran Intercessor Sarge is 4 attacks, + 1 on the charge and FotA gives another attack for 6 in total. Cant find any info on this master crafted relic option though as it looks interesting.

Not FotA - MoH, but otherwise yes.

There's a Stratagem in the supplements that allows you to Honour a Sarge by giving him a relic, and there's a selection of special issue wargear in those supplements that act as relics. One of those pieces of wargear is just "master crafted weapons" which adds plus 1 to the damage of a weapon.

Which creates the new smash Sgt.

Can you give intercessor sergeants thunder hammers now?

Yes, you can. They're in the Intercessor Sergeant weapon list. And if I remember correctly, they are in addition to the bolt rifle & bolt pistol.

This is clearly in advance of a yet unannounced Primaris upgrade sprue. (Most likely for Sallies or IH?)

I won't disagree on the axe thing - the IH Gorgon terminators had axe on everyone but the boss, who could take a hammer instead. Ironfathers (both 30k and 40k) axe too, with axe being the typical AdMech/techmarine weapon. Next contender is definitely the hammer, as both the primarch and the Gorgon sarge/resin upgrades had one.

In this case I'd go for the IH sprue having a hammer purely because there is no axe in the wargear selections. Can you envision IH running around with a flimsy chainsword? I can't - their character's sidearm is a heavy bolter, so much for subtlety. That has of course no impact on the Sallies' sprue, they probably have a hammer too.

The handflamer is gonna be on the Sally upgrade sprue, let's be real here.

What weapon is on what sprue isn't really showing 'ownershnip' of the weapon, everyone can take them. But sallies are the flamer-meme chapter.

If anything a possible BT upgrade sprue is more likely to have a bolt pistol and chainsword (like on the blood angel one, with the difference they're modeled with chains)
