Discussion on the new C:SM & Possible BT supplement

Recommended Posts

So apparently every primogenitor will get a supplement. Would’nt be great if GW included rules for the successor chapters as well in it.

Legion of Dorn style

I prefer a own book. The Templar deserve it because of history and many other things (fanbase, thematic army...)

@Acebaur.... thats not just a nugget^^

Did you all realise that Terminators with extra buffs like Litanies of faith and the newer reroll hitrolls buff (instead reroll failed ones) + Attack and maybe better chapter tactics and stratagems they could be the BIG winner in this Codex.

@JAG-Templar... yes - me too. I dont want to be in a "Imperial Fist" Supplement - if it goes this way then please "sons of Dorn" or Supplement "Last Wall"

@Tokugawa... it depends how  the playstyle changes. if all FF chapters get a bunch of new things and we just get a bit more then i am very disappointed... At least if my hopes and expectations used to be higher then the outcome....

I am wondering wether shock assault is masking grimaldus more attractive again

in this case i hope that he get completly new rules... the current rules are just....

He is THE Chaplain in the whole book - not even cassius have that Status.

As much as I like Helbrecht I think if I had to choose between him and Grimaldus for the primaris treatment I’d prefer Grimaldus. Rule wise I prefer the elite buff of Helbrecht but Grimaldus is a chaplain, which fits our warrior monk aesthetic, and has shown himself to be highly resistant to death. Everything else is looking good. There’s no way they’ll forget about us and I’m sure we’ll get some good stuff in the IF supplement. I still have my fingers crossed for a primaris upgrade sprue and primaris close combat specialists but for the time it seems my first born will do quite well with the attack buff. I like a level of uniformity in my army so until we have confirmation of an upgrade sprue I’m refraining from adding primaris to my crusade.

@Medjugorje  ...but that's essentially what it is; just for every 1st Founding Legion/Chapter and it's successors. For Dorn, it is combining all the Last Wall in a supplement, in essence if not in name. We aren't a tack-on to Codex:Space Marines/Ultramarines any longer, we are paired with our gene-brothers and primogenitors. No losses anymore, but so much to gain. Plus, rules to create any further successors if desired.

We need to tread carefully still.

After all CF and BT are sucessor chapters, albeit the only ones excluding FW with IC.

While CF are safe on the sprue department, obviously this does not confirm nor deny anything for us.

It would be unfair to leave us in the dust, but I do not forget Angel's of death.

Still, Vigilus got us sword brothers.

So its anyone's guess.

Valrak just shared the prices for the incoming stuff. One thing caught my eye.

On the white scars page it asks "This is good for you because:"

The White Scars are so popular we named a paint after them..."

I'm not saying this translates for a BT supplement, but God damn, it must mean something. I dont want to be reading to much into it.

Where did he share it? Mind to post a link?

Hope that the Templars' getting a fair treatment.

Curious about the Salamanders. Compared to UMs, they don't have any official successors, so they'd need to compensate that with other fluff to fill the pages.

Besides UM, I'm hyped for every supplement. :)

Especially Scars, Fists and Ravens. ;)

Gonna be a party pooper and state that to me just reads as an attempt to get store owners to "stock up on products from us". "You're totes gonna get a lot of customers wanting to buy this white, yo"

I'm just saying that not everything is a sign of any really indication or significance. I feel we won't really know for certain what they're intending to do until we start getting rumors/previews/buzz about the upcoming IF supplement we all know will be among the supplements somewhere.

So the prize für one regular digital supplement ist about 12/13 € with 11,38£? And 64 pages... let's say 30/35 for fluff and the rest for rules? 20€

Not that much to cover successor chapters...

From today's Warhammer Community offering:

SMChapterTactics-Aug5-BlackTemplars8ghcg

So it looks like the codex will have basic rules for 8 Chapters (in addition to basic rules for all Chapters). How much more rules content the supplements have will (hopefully) be revealed soon.

This is really good. There's so many times I've wished I didn't have to re-roll one of my charge dice, and that's a really neat little anti-psyker buff. Not game breaking, but it means we can focus the stratagem on powers other than smites and not worry so much about those wounds. (In addition, a new dice roll is also a new opportunity to CP re-roll that dice if you really need to.)

This really gets me thinking of running a MSU Black Tide list as the batreps by Modrian Glory have shown.

Shaking off mortal wounds and nailing long charges with better efficiency is good for my play style.

Angel of Death rule also makes my Reivers even more of a distraction carnifex than before with Shock Assault.

THEN pair this with the Sword Brethren detachment with 5 company vets - Sgt gets a hammer. One other guy gets a hammer. Everyone else has swords. Everyone gets a storm shield. With +1 attack on the charge naturally + stratagem, that 5 man squad gets 9 thunder hammer attacks and 12 power sword attacks rerolling all failed wounds.

Spicy.

Ok, so being pretty unfamiliar with 8th, Angels of Death on Sword Brethren from the detachment coming out of a Crusader is really good now, but only five models?

Yes because the SB detachment is for company vets who are max 5 man squads
