What are you looking forward to most in the RG supplement?

As far as I've seen you're not locked into 1 set of Tactics forever.

What is more appropriate for sons of Corax than being flexible enough to change Tactics for the battle at hand?

Edit: I just noticed that this thread is the most active of any thread I've ever started. Yay me.

But is there anything that increases the chance to actually make that charge out of deep strike? I heard that there is a successor chapter trait that is +1 to charge, but you really need a +2 or the black templars re-roll to be reliable.

Do we know if Eliminators and Suppressors stayed at max 3 models in a unit?

I like

Hungry For Battle: +1 to Advance and Charge rolls

Stealthy: Get the benefit of cover against models more than 12" away

as tactics for my raven guard successor. Benefits my fire base and my deep strikers. I'm hoping there is still the +1 to charge warlord trait from the Vanguard supplement.

Really disappointed that reivers stayed the same in terms of rules/profile.  No scout deploy, no ap -1, no extra weapon options.  Really really bland.  They appear inferior to intercessors in all regards.  GW gave them improved leadership debuffs stacking 3 times to -3 with a 6" range... AKA stinky juicy hot garbage.

They are slightly cheaper I suppose.  I guess the Raven Guard supplement is where they will shine?  Seems like a hail marry at this point given how hellbent GW is about making Reivers as bland as possible.

This is a massive disappointment. I love Reivers, and I’ve nearly finished a squad of 10 HBP+combat blade guys for ETL. I was really hoping they’d get a boost in the main codex. Here’s hoping they get something in the RG supplement.

Maybe RG will get a Veteran Reiver akin to the Indomitus? 5 models with 26 attacks on first round of combat?

Reivers I think are only usable with carbines but then why bother since Intercessor auto bolt rifles are assault 3 and have an autohit stratagem?

I had some thoughts about Raven Guard when reading over the White Scars supplement.

Here are a few speculations/expectations...

1. I think it is somewhat likely(25% chance maybe?) that Raven Guard gets the token system that GSC has.  When looking over how closely GW stuck to the fluff to design the WS stratagems and other abilities, I think they will be just as fluff based for RG.

2. Expect a lot of trap/disruption mechanics.  This will probably include an Agents of Vect type stratagem, deepstrike denial on steroids, deployments shenanigans, area denial using trap mechanics and probably some silly overwatch mechanics where temping charge targets quickly turn sour.  I hope that RG is the chapter everyone hates to play against because none of their toys work.

3. There will be a lot of 360 no scope's.  Lots of dudes are gonna sniped from additional character targeting mechanics and mortal wounds.

4.  All Phobos All day.  I think it is very likely that Phobos marines and scouts will gain extra benefit from Tactical or Assault doctrine.  I have no idea what these might be though.  Additional AP seems a bit too bland (although effective) so maybe more damage or rerolls or even range?  Maybe it wont be offensive at all... maybe defensive?

You missed the Iron Hands hit on 5s and 6s in overwatch now.

You want to charge those Iron Hands Aggressors that didn't move? Not me.

I see a perfect combo for DIY.

Ultramarines shoot after falling back combined with Scars charge after advancing or falling back.

Lock them in combat during their turn, fall back and shoot, charge back in to lock them in again.

Im happy i have both ultramarines and white scars

The GSC token thing would be interesting but I'm not sure how much value it has for us. Now a return to the shadows type deal I could get behind!

Sounds more like Alpha Legion to me, and I realllllllly don't see them sdopting a game mechanic that unique to GSC for RG ... but ... I'd love to play with it if we get it. It is sneaky themed and after the (little) nerf the Chapter Tactic got I'll take anything that enables me to deploy and move around the table in a guerrilla manner. I'm trying to picture my buy/paint list given the new Codex/Supplement (Suppledex?)

I really still need a delivery system for Strike Squads of Aggressors (euphoria over the +1 W and +1 A) and Hellblasters that doesn't include a Repulsor. So hoping Strike from the Shadows still works or something similar. I'll buy a couple of Impulsors and use them for the Hellblasters, but I'd rather reserve them for 2 five man Intercessor squads. I plan on using them too claim midfield objectives and leave a 10 man Intercessor with Stalker Rifles in the guarding my deployment zone.

I was hoping Reivers might get a -1AP on their combat knives but the point cost mitigates that (slightly :)). I'm looking to have two squads drop in with a Plasma-ceptor squad to jack up my opponents weakest Objective and/or go head hunting weaker characters.

Reivers DO get -1 AP, once Assault Doctrine is active. That can happen as soon as Turn Two if the leaks of Stratagems are correct.

Marine abilities seem to be set on a wax/wane system now, which I'm fine with. It helps players who build balanced lists with varied units, and it requires some thought and nuance to play.

I'm all for that ... I,m just greedy and wanted to have -1AP "on" all the time so I could either stay in Tactical Doctrine or get a -2 AP if I go to Assault. Primaris still lack a classical smack face melee unit. Perfectly happy to make them work as is though :)

I know the BTs (love you guys) are the successor that felt like it was left at the altar (I just wonder if somehow GW has taken it as a lesson don't give successors a codex?) . . . but I REALLY am excited to see if anyone at the offices have decided to give Raptors and Carchadons .... anything?

The issue is none of the other supplements are as of yet in the retailer pipeline so the next few may be coming october or so? but who knows...

Cyraxus prepared me for this moment...the solution is simple:

Don't buy anything (codex, new models, whatever new stuff) until that book is out. Maybe GW notices that we don't give a flying duck about half-complete codices.

Drawing out releases to make people buy stuff they retrospectively wouldn't have needed seems to be GWs newest fashion - just look at the whole Repulsor thing. With the current 3 transports out, few people would have bought as many Repulsors as they did. But if they drip feed them, people buy one after the other as the later versions are mostly improvements.

Also, that way you don't buy stuff that doesn't even work well with RG rules. Every chapter gets something out of a specific doctrine, as long as we don't know which one is affected and how, we might retrospectively regret some unit choices.

Patience is important. I spent money on a FW Contemptor, two Helevrins and a couple Knights that I don’t I’ll ever have time to paint. The Invictus is going definitely replacing the Helevrins. I was and still am in such dislike of the Repulsor and Redemptor I rushed to buy their tactical substitutes, and look Eliminators and Invictus provide exactly what I was looking for. :(

Need to figure out how eBay works now *grumble , grumble*

I hear you both. When I started in the hobby I bought everything I thought I would want without any real understanding of how long it was going to take me to build up everything. I ended up selling off a lot. I'm still building Dark Imperium models right now, and Shadowspear is the only thing that I bought on release because it fit my army perfectly. I love the new stuff coming out but I'm with Major and am planning on holding off buying until I see the supplement. Soccer is starting up which means I have no free time for the next two months anyways so the timing is decent for me to show some restraint.

Not sure if you do Facebook but I'd try your local group pages first. I've used eBay but if you can sell local you avoid the hassle of fees and shipping.

Any long time Raptor player out there have any thoughts on how they suspect they will treated in the supplement? The Raptor mind set is what drew me to this subforum and I hope they do them justice. I see how I would build them given the Successor Chapter rules but I’m hoping like the Templars that GW gives a bit more love to Corax’s second sons. :)

They're from FW, but at least the new codex has them listed as successors (unlike the v1).

The list of weapons that count as bolt weaponry includes a relic called "Blackout". That does sound a lot like something for RG and successors.

I dont think you'll get the black templar treatment.

I suspect we will see a section on Raptors in the Supplement that has a blurb with fluff and some unit markings. You'll get access to the "successor" wargear bit that all of the other First Founding folks have gotten, and that will be it. I doubt it will be as in-depth as Templars.

Who knows though? Could be we get some Carcharodon stuff in the book, since we have been on a trend of Space Shark fiction!

Which rule was the list under? I assume one of the higher res video reviews (if you'd be so kind as to post a link)

I started watching both Winters SEO and SS82, and fell asleep during both >.>

Speaking of successors, since Death Specters are now RG successors would they have anything in the RG supplement rules wise? I honestly preferred that chapter as an unknown founding as it was initially conceptualized. Raptors should definitely get something, in my mind its the first RG successor chapter that comes to mind when someone says RG successors.

, at 34:33. That guy overlooks/misinterprets a lot, but the images are good.
