DanPesci
A bit of background...Id started off this army a couple of years back, and got a few units to various levels of finality but then decided to change my colour scheme. A few of these units I started on for my vow last year, but never got them finished as ended up going through a lot of stuff in my personal life (and hadnt painted since). However with the forces of nurgle now running rampant in the proud streets of Edinburgh, my forge has has enforced full lockdown and got round to enacting reinforcement protocols. Have started this thread to make sure these new demands are met Onagers I've finished up my last 2 onagers, and just have a bit of highlighting/basing to tidy up with these. Getting the one to have a sassy leg cocked up on a rock was interesting, might shift the rock about a bit though so his leg is more central on it (it currently looks a bit like itd tip the rock over) Kastellans Andy and Ollie were mostly done, but have finished up a bit of basing and swapping their old reds for new blues Servitors & Daedolosus/Alpha conversion I picked up a squad of genestealer cultists to make some servitors with (i run a breacher maniple). These along with various leftover breacher/vanguard parts have made some decent servitors. I then used some other leftover parts with the mining laser from the GSC box, plus parts from sisters of silence, datasmith, infiltrators and vanguard, to make a 'counts as' daedolosus HQ The Daedolosus counts as join my other HQ units which have been finished up (apart from the blue techpriest - hes missng an arm and a few other bits). My white techpriest has his pseudogenator buddy along with him too (this guy was made from leftover negavolt cultists parts, which ive been using to make electropriest conversions) Theres also an engineseer in there i finished basing/highlighting. He's made from a leftover datasmith. Infiltrators I have 2 of 3 infiltrator squads pretty much finished up bar details and final basing. The 3rd squad is half done Breachers These guys have taken aaaaaaaages. Probably taken over a year on and off in varying forms. Both 6 man squads are 75%+ there now though, mainly basing and a fe weapons to go (some annoyingly went missing - am still missing 1 arc rifle) Although a lot of these were already started, im really pleased with where Ive got them to in a week of painting, its been way too long since i last picked up a brush Theres also about 40 vanguard/rangers on my desk in varying degrees of completion, and a squad of electropriest conversions hopefully coming soon. DanPesci
I'm quite a fan of your tech priest and servitor conversions. The Pseudogenator is also quite creative too.   Cheers! The GSC servitor idea I totally stole off someone else from this forum, cant remember who though (so thanks fellow priest!)  First greenstuffing id done in aaaages so was pleased with how they came out (especially the extra hood/robe parts I did - they could certainly look smoother but still learning)  The psuedogenator is basically 3 negavolt cultists faces, stuck back to back on a ball of GS and then lots of little mechaterndirls from the same kit. I then added the space marine arm/hemlet for grimdark purpose. Was really fiddly and spent way too much time getting everything to sit right but its a fun little model ive had a few comments on at games Edited April 3, 2020 by DanPesci Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/362972-danpescis-quarantine-painting-log/#findComment-5500639 Share on other sites

DanPesci
One skorpius ready to ride some dunes. Need to find where Ive stashed the gunners and get them added inside at some point (I previously kept them off so I could switch it between the tank version, but now never use that) Focslain, Bjorn Firewalker, Magos Takatus and 2 others 5 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/362972-danpescis-quarantine-painting-log/#findComment-5501422 Share on other sites

Magos Takatus
That really dark coppery colour is interesting, it looks good with the white and blue. DanPesci
That really dark coppery colour is interesting, it looks good with the white and blue. Cheers, yeah its a nice contrast. I used to have them painted more metallica red on the stripes etc but found the brass was lost, but it stands out nicely with the blue. For those interested the copper metallics are screaming bell (heavily drybrushed over black), then a heavy wash with agrax earthshade, and a highlight with hashut copper. The blue is simply the fang (my other army is SW so had loads of this kicking about!) So this evenings been productive too. Managed to find the parts for the dunerider gunners (and a ladder) so built/painted/added them to the skorpius: I then finished off the final layers and basing on my third infiltrator squad. Just some very small detailing left to do on these ninjaboys (the photos are really annoying me that the helmet lenses on the leaders base arent painted hah). Ended up doing the taser goads after the light went and im not 100% happy with them so may redo tommorow in better light. DanPesci
Ive never really liked the electropriest models, and a box of 5 is pricey. Of those adepts who join my explator fleet, not all complete their studies Some skitarri are found wanting upon the battlefield, or return as the only member of their squad. Those in need of repentia are placed into the electrocult, where they redeem themselves through holy combat in the omnissiahs name. Basically what you get mixiing up negavolt cultists with leftover skitarii/rustalker bis to proxy as electopriests The light is going so hard to get good pics of these, but fairly pleased with how menacing they look. Theres a lot of bad greenstuffed robes going on but the paintjob has hidden these alright! DanPesci
This week ive finished up my breachers and a few other bits and pieces.  1850pts done!  Super pleased as this is the first army ive ever 'finished' in nearly 20 years of playing on and off. Quarantine has its uses.  I have a couple more squads ready to go to get this up to 2k points, but need to wait until a few extra bits/basing materials are available to order again.  Ill get some proper photos done when I have better light, but for now, a cider and praise to the omnissiah:  Edited April 25, 2020 by DanPesci brother_b and Prot 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/362972-danpescis-quarantine-painting-log/#findComment-5512238 Share on other sites

DanPesci
So its been a while since my last update, mainly due to finishing off the main chunk of my army, not buying any new stuff until our codex drops, and also moving house/cities. However, with the move out of the way, I've been invited to a 'friendly' tournament my brother in law is running next month. In the list ive drawn up for it, I realised I was missing an engineseer. Their role being to take the prime hermeticon warlorld trait (using Mechanics Locum), and riding along with some fulgurites. Into the bits box I delved.... Introducing Engine-sister Alita The fluff: Whilst delving into the void, my explorator fleet encountered an Imperial Distress signal coming from a nearby planet. Not one to leave fellow allies of the omnissiah in distress, a contingent of troops were sent to the surface, to find an old imperial facilty mostly overrun by heretics. Not expecting the arrival of a large skitarri contingent at their backs, the heretics were quickly overcome. Making their way through the facility, the skitarri were bemused to find little in the way of human defenders, but several automated emplacements. Upon finding the control room they discovered Alita, an apparent sister of silence, heavily wounded but in combat against the remaining heretic leaders. Impressed by both her combat prowess, dedication to the imperium, and her apparent ability to fix and maintain the facilites defences single handedly, Alita was invited to join the Explorator fleet where her flesh wounds were quickly replaced by machine might. After her recovery she continued to show an aptitude for machines that even outstretched some of the fleets own adepts, henceforth being inducted into full engineseer training. Of why Alita was on the imperium facility alone (or her aptitude for machines), she still does not speak of...holding to her vows of silence. Only through the noosphere does she communicate, canting combat doctrines and orders to the Fulgurite priests she zealously leads at the front lines. Thoughts on the conversion Still needs some cleaning up, but quite happy with this one, was nice and simple. The parts used are a vanguard body, sister of silence head/shoulder guard, a breacher arc claw and mechandrite bit (or that might have been off an onager??), and an old space wolf arm/axe. The axe doesnt look quite so huge IRL, the angle on the photo makes it look a bit bigger than it is, although I was thinking of perhaps cutting some cog teeth into it (not sure if my skills are up to this) - I do like the idea that this is the weapon she retained from her service prior to being found too though. The fluff behind my explorator fleet is that (being stygiies based) they dont adhere too strictly to mechanicum dogma (or not as much as both), so this retention of character would be allowed in one such as this. Also not sure if I should replace the topknot with a hood to make her more engineseery - but i already have several character models with full hoods - so again I like the idea of this being a retention of her old flesh life, as well as marking her out as a combat focused engineseer. Also if we ever get rules for a skitarii alpha - I may just sub her in for that Hopefully starting on the paint job this week, will post up some more pics when done. DanPesci
Its been way too long since updating this, and as were now coming out of lockdown here in the UK, I figured id best get my admech finally finished. So heres roughly 2500pts of admech, pretty much all done except final touchups. The final additions have been the fusilave (finally built and painted after a year in pieces), more vanguard, painting the marshal conversion, and adding a manipulus (basically updating for the new codex!) The final tally comes to 1 Dominus (with anzions pseudogenator conversion) 1 Manipulus 1 Marshall (Converted) 1 Engineseer (Converted) 1 Tecnoarchaeologist (Converted) 42 Vanguard 16 Rangers 12 Breachers 8 Servitors (genestealer cult conversions) 15 Infiltrators 12 Fulgurites (converted from negavolts) 3 Onagers 2 Kastelans 1 Fusilave 1 dunerider (And a servitor in a pear tree) Im going to try get some more photos of individual units with a lightbox soon (as well as type up all the fluff), but been having fun with my new 50mm flipped for macro shots. Also managed to run these out in a couple of configurations last weekend for the first time in nearly 2 years. Two victories under the belt and all the new stuff managed to avoid new model syndrome (my new powersword vanguard alpha even took the head of a deathguard ancient terminator) Edited August 6, 2021 by DanPesci Magos Takatus, walter h, Focslain and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/362972-danpescis-quarantine-painting-log/#findComment-5727029 Share on other sites
