derLumpi
Wow, that's really cool! I want to give reposing those new kits a try but I'm really bad with green stuff. :-/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363129-30k-hobby-chat/page/178/#findComment-6169442 Share on other sites
Doghouse
Thanks mate Greenstuff is one of those things that just take practice, best place to start is learning how to fill gaps at first then work your way up. You can convert these guys without GS though. I think the main problem with heresy kits is it is easier if you have lots of parts like where I am using spare from the MK II assault marines and the tacticals for his guy. Working on an interesting idea for a Phobos combi-bolter for him at the moment using the Mk II assault marine bolt pistols, I'll be gap filling them with GS to blend the weapon together. He's giving off serious Blood Angel vibes to me at the moment. Still need to tidy him up a bit more. Frustrating part of getting old is your eyesight tends to go and makes this a lot more difficult, I can see lots of areas I need to clean up now the image is this big. derLumpi
I might give green stuff another try. After I completed my Tactical Squads. That combi-bolter is genious! I have to build some too. Doghouse
Thanks mate Playing around with Rapiers for the Vlka Fenryka and decided to go with Mk III armour which feels more fitting for the crew. Really enjoyed making the gunner. I may have been bitten by the Heresy bug again. The targetter is a bit wonky in these pictures but I have straightened it up now. derLumpi
Love MkIII armour. I prefer the old MkIIIs but the new kits do have a certain appeal. That scanner wearing guy looks cool! Seems I have to get some Rapiers to use the parts for kitbashing. derLumpi
I played around with a Veteran that has sword in a reverse grip (I saw one on Instagram but couldn't find it again :-( ). Gave him an axe because of raw power. Not 100% sure about the sword hand though. I think it needs to be more aligned with that arm. derLumpi
Tried a different arm and a longer sword and I think I'm getting there. While I think the sword is a bit too long the arm seems to be ok. derLumpi
I went back to the start. Changed the legs and dug deep in my bits box and found an arm from a Chaos Marine and I think it looks better now. No Foes Remain
I agree, a much better pose though the sword looks a little long but that could be because the model is missing pauldrons and the power pack. Maybe something smaller like a gladius or a long knife would suit it better? Of course that all depends on your bitsbox. derLumpi 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363129-30k-hobby-chat/page/178/#findComment-6170409 Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
Now they've been out a while, is anyone aware of someone making alternate weapons for the new scale Cataphractii (that you don't have to print yourself as I can't take up printing)? Artisans of Vaul is working on some Sixth Legion upgrades and it'll likely be a while but their Fire Drakes upgrades were cool, just want some alternate weapons too, combis, lightning claws. derLumpi
Thanks @No Foes Remain & @SlickSamos Settled the pose. The secondary sword is a smaller UM sword. Not sure from which kit it came but I like it. Since it's resin it's not 100% straight but I can live with it. No Foes Remain
Yep, that pose looks amazing complete and the shorter sword works a lot better derLumpi 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363129-30k-hobby-chat/page/178/#findComment-6170508 Share on other sites

Sorry, I lied, it's made from the hand and handle from the now OOP Deathwatch kit, not the Heresy Command Upgrade! lokkorex
3rd Tacical Sergeant built: Contemplating on if he should have a plume on his helmet, on his backpack, or none at all. His targeter make it more difficult to add one to his helmet, so a different one than the one I've used for the first two would need to be sourced.
