A WIP Scout Sergeant for the Pathfinder to lead (yes, I know about the Aquila). Wolfed him up with some bits from the new GH/BC and gave him a Power Axe.

This, this is why I'm still in the hobby. This is inspirational. Great thinking for the tartaros claws. There are small zipties you can find that are like 5mm wide.

Settled the pose. The secondary sword is a smaller UM sword. Not sure from which kit it came but I like it. Since it's resin it's not 100% straight but I can live with it. 

 

 

He looks amazing, any plans to add some fabric to indicate movement? Like a loincloth or balteus, etc, military braids?

Recently had a 2v2 game of Word Bearers and Night Lords versus Iron Hands and Space Wolves. The traitors got their asses handed to them because we rolled so poorly. Traitors had TWO Kratii, one for Word Bearers, one for my 42nd armored. 

 

Highlights of the game:

 

• A Word Bearer Herald holding his own for 5-8 rounds of combat against Hvarl before finally succumbing to his wounds, only to be jumped by an wounded double-clawed Talonmaster. Hoping to catch Hvarl unaware, he wiffed all his attacks, Hvarl killed him practically instantly. "HELLO THERE" *splat*

• The Word Bearer Kratos loading a flashburn shell and sending a shell exploding into the core of an Iron Hands Arcus, which had in turn scrambled its twin in midnight blue. The ammunition ignited and the Arcus erupted. 
• ...attempting to copy the zealots in red, the Night Lords Kratos loaded its own shell, targeting a Land Raider of the vlka fenryka... only for the shell to misfire, exploding inside the tank, dealing more than half its own hull points in damage. This led to the inside joke "Don't. Drop. It. This. Time."
• A leviathan of the space wolves just absolutely weed whacking its way through the flanks of the 8th Legion. A single tactical marine survived and fled retreated from the battle.
• ..aaaand a whole squadron of Night Lord bikers, along with their Centurion, charging at a lone Iron Father out in the open. I forget how, the biker escort was cut down systematically. This left the Nostraman centurion circling the Iron Father on his bike for several challenge rounds, missing. every. single. strike. Before the Iron Father caved his skull in, probably Akira'd slided too much.

Despite losing horribly, with a final score of something like 11-31 in favor of the Loyalists, it was an incredibly fun game. I think my 2nd game of third edition over all, but list building highlighted how badly my Night Lord and Dark Angel collections are still 1st and 2nd edition coded. So I started mocking up a ton of base characters, and not-so-base. (My Dark Angels lacked a Praetor-equivalent on-foot). So, I made one! Still a WIP.

That game sounds like a lot of fun! 

 

I'm Back from one week of hiking in the Czech Republic and the week before I was accompanying my oldest son and his class. His school always sends the fifth grade to greek games with similar schools. 

While they had fun throwing disks, sprinting and throwing spears and whatnot I realized that I need a spear throwing dude.

 

 

Still pretty rough but I already like it.

Made some progress. Figured out the throwing hand and found a more suitable left arm. The proper hand is still missing but I think I know where to look.

But I use one of those open hands that are in there. Will post a picture tonight hopefully.

Started the next project: Recon Marines

Cutting hands and cables from the scout sniper rifles and adding a proper magazine.

 

Librarian received a flame coming out of His hand to burn heretics (yes, this basically makes him one too ).

The announcement of MkIV Tacticals and Assault Marines (at the same time, yes!) has certainly invigorated me. I'm looking forward to seeing all the various power lances.

 

Now I feel like I can start building some Grey Slayers. Time to go hunting some parts to Legion them up (Doesn't need to be too much, I prefer limited bling).

Doing the same but with Stalkers. I picked up a set of Wulfen which have some nice bits, plus some nice shields for if (when) I do build some Slayers

Ah nice.

 

My starter list WAS going to be a Breacher Squad, a Tactical Squad, some Cataphractii, Land Raider and Caster of Runes in TDA.

 

Mainly because I want the bulk of my infantry in MkIV barring Breachers and a few units here and there. My headcanon was the Tactical Squad would have been part of the Legion since before Russ was discovered.

 

I've now revamped it to two Slayer packs, one with Bolters and one to get up in people's faces by dropping the Terminators.

 

Less bodies but I do still have just over 100 points to play with, so maybe I'll keep the Tactical Squad for backfield duties and run the two Slayer packs more aggressively in the Raider and Rhino

Decided to retool my Allied Detachment concept and go for more thematic Salamanders. If Order Septim of Clan Vurgaan are the best, most human of the IH, these are the worst of the Salamanders.

These guys are survivors of Isstvan V, dazed and dismayed by the loss of Vulkan — some might even say traumatized. The Centurion Bul'ak (pictured, left) was badly wounded in the retreat and had to be quickly, agonizingly (through no fault of his hosts; his wounds were that severe) rebuilt by the Iron Hands of Order Septim as a cyborg. It was a harrowing experience that embittered him. Though Bul'ak fights the traitors in the Mavor sub-sector, who have massed under the IW Warsmith Tarn, with unparalleled ferocity and steely resolve, Iron Lord Sul can't help but notice his ally's newfound disdain for mortal auxiliaries and civilians.

On break from uni at the moment so I've been making the most of it and working on a few projects. First up is my second squad of Thousand Sons:

 

And then some test models for the Wolves and Ultramarines.

 

I wanted a squad of Wolves to play Burning of Prospero against my Thousand Sons. My first attempts at sculpting on the beard so I'm pretty happy with how he turned out.

 

My son (5) has decided it wasn't fair that I have so many models and he doesn't so he gets the Ultramarines because blue is his favourite colour. Raided the bits box and found plenty of old 40k bits that look the part.

I built five more with different boltguns. They will be either recon marines or a squad of seekers.
