Anyone holding out hope for some sort of Heresy related preview? Heresy isn't listed but there's always the question marked box to give me a sliver of (likely false) hope.

I'd like the question mark to be heresy related, but I doubt it. Even if anuj was replaced, that's still just a two person dev team. The sculpts have also been pushed back and are few in number compared to the other specialist game releases.

They hate us.....

I don't know if I'd go that far, especially as they've just lost Anuj (but given his post the BB10 project was at least well under way).

But it definitely doesn't feel like we're one of their "Core systems".

Well, I wasn't holding out much hope but I am still a little sad and, if I'm honest, I always thought the question mark might be a new Warhammer Quest.

Now if only it had been Warhammer Quest: Horus Heresy and given us a bunch of plastic Praetor/Consul models vs. MKII.... or Knights Errant vs. pretty much whatever they wanted.

My favorite part of that not-Inquisitor Witch Hunter model is the :cuss -huge gun.

It has always been weird to me how so many mortals seem to go after big scary things like Greater Deamons with like one-handed sabres and stuff (even in a setting as bonkers as 40k). Space Marines, Grey Knights, etc....yea sure they can go try to duke it out with something like that because the whole knights-vs-dragons thing is the Astartes shtick (and a glorious one at that).

But a regular ol' mortal humie with a single life? Yea it just seems like their first choice would be a big honkin' GUN

It's a glorious mini and if the rest of the Vampire Hunters (forgot that's what he was, so used to stakes being anti-witch in 40K) are as awesome I can see myself picking up a copy of the game.

I shall name him Giles.

How would people feel if FW put things like the limited edition minis like the anniversary and WHW minis etc on their store for regular purchase?

I'd love this: I've been lucky enough to get to Warhammer World and pick up those I've wanted in past, but I think after a certain period of time it'd be fine.

Somebody introduced me to the Unreal Wargaming Studio urban bases and it makes me regret getting the Sector Imperialis bases.

Their bases are amazing - I think the only thing stopping me (bar the number of infantry I normally run...) would be having them on non-GW bases for tournaments etc. I think if I was starting a new force, I'd strongly consider getting them for consistency and aesthetic.

I didn't even consider non-GW bases being a potential issue at tournaments. Considering you'd be using GW/FW models.

Now makes me a bit wary of using the odd conversion piece here and there not from GW/FW. Then again I'll probably rarely play tournaments.

I've settled on using the Sector Imperialis bases as it'll be a nightmare to remove my infantry (not to ignore the cost already invested in them) and I'll use the large base decorating kit and offcuts from building sprues.

I mean, GW has put pictures of models on non GW bases in White Dwarf (which is basically a hobby advertisement magazine, let's be honest here). As long as your MODEL is mostly GW, I don't think bases are an issue.

I don't think it's an issue yet ... but with a lot of basing products released by GW in recent years I really hope they don't read this and decide to tread on the competition.

I'll admit I looked at the Witch hunter too and thought, "Now... how do I use that?" Still mulling that over.

But I've been putting off finally working up a motorized platoon (6 squads and rhinos, with a Spartan on top of that) and decided to go indulge my side project that got pitched as a wild idea by my local 30K gaming group.

gonna eventually replicate my whole 65th company in 'teeny tiny' scale. It also made me bored enough that I decided to do some NMM practice after I got angry at running out of Gw basing junk again. Slowly starting to get it, I guess.

It scared me when I realized I'd been organizing my 30K armies like Epic 30K armies for some time now, and it's gonna be a basis point for whatever army comes next (Maybe World Eaters, they've been on my mind for a while).  But I do like the size and 'handling', and there's an online group for epic 30K itself that seems pretty nice and translates in scale fairly well.  Getting excited to try 'tri-scale' 30K, with Epic, standard, and BFG components as part of the narrative stuff when Covid gives in a little bit... so, might be a fair while before the usual gatherings are safe, but we have community interest.

Admittedly there's a LOT of models and materials already available here and there, LameBeard.  Having a 3D printer or access to a resin printer is definitely the easiest possible method for it: a few of the content creators already have all of their models pre-supported for personal non-commercial use, too.

So, I decided on the first Lord of War (non-Primarch) for my I Legion:

I'll be getting a Falchion.

I also came up with a name for it while working on my Adeptus Titanicus Legio Ignatum, the Deus Interfector. The idea is that the tank got it's name from it's first battle:

It saved a Legio Ignatum Warlord Titan by getting a head-shot on a Legio Mortis Titan (either a Warlord or an Imperator, dunno if the latter is reasonable for a Falchion to be able to get a kill-shot on) after the Mortis Titan's Void Shields were downed. I'll also probably put kill-markings on it by using skull transfers, and I could use specific factions transfers for major kills (ie: using one of the Mortis transfers from the Titanicus transfers for the first kill-marking)

Also, thanks to Ben Greaves' lovely Dark Angels, I have an idea on how to repaint my Dark Angels a bit more in a way I like

For context, this is what mine look like currently:

@Vykes - wow that is one beautiful looking force. I love the themed bases and terrain as well, it looks fantastic. How much more are you planning on adding to it?

Completely agree about the great range of minis you now have available for Epic scale: not only the classic stuff, but the miniatures from Vanguard, Onslaught miniatures are great proxies and the 3D printing has become more and more common and readily available. Especially for Heresy-era too, there are some great communities that complement the Adeptus Titanicus stuff very nicely.

I have finally completed a Tactical Company of Marines for my Great Crusade-era force. For anyone familiar with my blog these are eventually going to be fighting Orks; hoping to use the Imperius Dominatus ruleset eventually but have been listening to a few Podcasts about 2nd edition Space Marine and that has made me want to play that game again! :smile.:

100 marines total: Comprised of a Command/Centurion squad, 2 veterans (these are missing from the photo), then 3 detachments of a Decurion squad, special weapon squad and 20 marines each. Transported by 11 Rhinos (1 missing from shot). All the marines are from Vanguard miniatures, and the Rhinos are the classic plastic GW ones.

Oh man, Pacific that's what I'm talkin' about!  Always happy to see full companies at any scale and lo and behold, epic does that nicely. Big fan of that command squad and the stripey bits on the power fist. Yeah, that's a motivator for WE, that's for sure. Definitely leaning towards 'em now, mate.  And best of luck slaughtering greenskins, eh!  I'll be followin' that for sure.

And thanks, I'll admit the basing had me particularly frustrated for a while. Ended up just adding some oil to the ironcrust/Ironearth and then adding more to select bits when dry. Then a quick two layer drybrush which ended up not nearly as bad as I feared.  It was all there originally to match my AT Mortis engines, and I was juuuust gonna print a squad or so of marines to put on the base and I hate paying for shipping for small stuff where it exceeds the actual items.  Only reason I didn't go through vanguard buuuuut... -sighs and gestures lazily towards what that it is now-

Adding too, hmm, well right now the plan is 1:1 with my 30K force, so that means I'll need -does a quick count-

  • 1 detachment of Despoilers (with 4 support weapon squads and command, 6 rhinos)
  • 1 detachment of Tacticals (with 3 heavy weapon squads, 3 rapiers, 1 dreadnought, and command)
  • 1 support detachment breachers (in dreadclaws)
  • 1 detachment of Justarian
  • 1 detachment of Terminators
  • 1 detachment of Recon troopers
  • 1 detachment of Destroyers
  • 2 Leviathans
  • 2 Deredeo
  • 3 storm eagles
  • 1-2 Fire Raptors (given they're in detachments of 2, this might end up with me snagging another Fire Raptor in 30K... I did it for my second Spartan, not gonna lie)
  • And whatever I can think up to stand in for vets/seekers which I'd need at least a detachment of (at least 8 combat squads)

I'd say 'not much', but it's a lot of infantry and they're fiddly.

Vanguard is also really frustrating for Canada (at least for all my orders with them). It takes a while before it's shipped, like sometimes a good week; theres no tracking provided; it takes over a month to get here. My favorite was doing an order and my friend forgot some stuff, and I figured "no problem, I'll do a second and ask for it to be combined with the first since I just did it like a minute ago and I had already hit the max shipping charge". Got two seperate orders, big shipping costs and no communication. This was the case even last February before the world really got toasted by covid; I love the models and their range, but I hate the customer service and shipping times.

Ugh, that's brutal SkimaskMohawk, but thanks for letting us know about that stuff too.  After all, a lot of companies work and ship fine to the states and there's a sort of innate assumption about everything in North America goes there, so Canadians can get the boot pretty quick or end up with some more costs attached to products and services.  Shipping costs in particular can be absurd (doubly so with orders split up and shipped via courier... had that happen with an art company and ended up with more than a hundred in 'handling fees' separate of the eleven fifty or so collected for GST from CBSA).

Import and courier costs were one of the big things that tipped me over the edge to get a 3D printer in the end.
