[subject ~1]…The Legate Marshall Lady Cynis-Vern of our allied Solar Auxilia contingent continues to persist in her requests for an audience with you…..I’m….running out of excuses….

[subject ~2] Does she know?….

[subject ~1] I do not believe so, there is great suspicion surrounding our current lack of direction…..

[subject ~2] Do you trust her?

[subject ~1] She’s hard to read…..but she has no love for the headhunters after her contingent was absorbed into theirs….it was a dishonour to her….one she has struggled to bear…..

[subject ~2] that does not mean her loyalties will fall on our side…the cohort are beginning to find pride in their new colours…..

Spoiler

Well…..I thought I might take this blog in a slightly different direction over the next few months….

Always loved solar auxilia, I quite like the idea of an allied contingent accompanying Endryd Haar on his perilous quests. Conflicted by their allegiance.

This is by no means an end of the boys in white blue, it’s an excuse to add some more background and character to the story!

Stay tuned for more!

What an absolute showcase of an army! I love the colors, especially the blues. This is a very inspirational project, thank you for sharing it. I esp love the destroyers and assault marines as I am a huge fan of them in game. Also have to compliment your Omega, that is a fantastic tank conversion.

Thanks dude, I like to have a record of what I’ve painted up. Thinking up a back story helps with the sense of immersion as well.

The omega was converted by my gaming buddy Nefarious Squirrel. Lots of work went into it to make it look more “Astartes”. From the side panelling to the tracks. Check out his instagram:

Still got a fair amount to do before I call the force finished! As well as the solar auxilia force……

Malcador Battle Tank - “The Regent”

File type: Pict Capture

File location: Marius Harwood - remembrancer, personal log.

File commentary:

Ah, the Malcador battle tank, a design that predates the great crusade, a pattern that is becoming a rare site on the field these days.

“The Regent” is a wonderful example, armed for anti-personnel, close fire support. Note the modified sponsons, a design more commonly seen in the “infernus” pattern.  The sponson position provides a more effective forward firing position, it can leave the tank even more vulnerable to flanking infantry…..

Spoiler

I’ve always loved the Malcador, I was intending to use this for my IH but they no longer work well in a legion list. Sponsons are from the old metal predator kit, with track guards from the old LR kit. I think it makes the tank look more imposing.

One trip to the Tank museum in Dorset is to blame for this…..

The first of many!

Legate Marshal Lady Cynis-Vern

File type: Pict Capture

File location: Marius Harwood - remembrancer, personal log.

Spoiler

So, here’s my alternate legate marshal for the Cthonian headhunters. Ever since Lady Haera was released I knew I needed to include her in a militia or SA list.

I think she represents the austerity of a legate Marshal well, with artificer, paragon blade and cyber familiars to boost her invulnerable.

Who knows whether she’s viable in 3.0, what a disappointment the leaks have been. I think I’m returning to 1.0!

My esteemed praetor,

As per your request I have completed the process of rearming our legion tactical squads.

Having completed our primary mission of pursuing [REDACTED], I fully concur that the use of bolt weapons against enemy legion Astartes will be much more effective.

Initial data from the live firing range suggests our brothers have a reduction of 0.02% in targeting efficiency in high pressure simulated combat. Something  the ongoing bolter drills should iron out.

Forever your servant,

Raern Angelus, Quarter master, 19th company XIIth legion.

Spoiler

So, small update. These boys have been on the shelf throughout 2.0, they were originally built as black shield marauders with shotguns and chain axes.

In 2.0 they could have been run as  veterans and in 3.0 they can no longer have chain axes!

In 3.0 tacticals are essential, especially in early game scoring so they had to have an equipment change. It will be nice to be able to actually use these models in game, in 2.0 i always used despoilers and assault marines.

more updates to come.

Quarter masters report

File content:

My Lord,

As per your request, Sergeant Vascairus and the first terminator squad have been training to utilise Tartaros Pattern tactical dreadnought armour. Initial tests have proven most effective, with the improvement in reactive movement in response to combat threat. The more advanced targeting systems housed within the suit have also improved mid range accuracy.

Vascairus seems to favour the suit for open field engagements, reporting that in allows for more rapid engagement and freedom of movement during close quarter fighting. Unfortunately there is a degree of trade off in durability, I would continue to suggest the use of cataphractii armour for boarding actions and when engaging enemy titan class constructs.

I enclose my full assessment of the armours field performance.

Forever your servant,

Raern Angelus, Quarter master, 19th company XIIth legion.

Spoiler

Well, I bought these tartaros terminators when they were first released in resin….

They’ve languished half done as part of my iron hands force, but a few months ago I decided they needed a change of allegiance. Broken down, reposed, stripped, given new weapons and shoulder pads. I’ve also  raised the waist a little to give them a less stunted and more dynamic pose.

I still like the resin version better than the plastic!

I’ve used them in my 3.0 games so far, I’m really surprised by their durability this edition. Combi bolters are also surprisingly good at pumping out shots. Terminators seem to be in a good place, but WS4 is a real killer!

Hope you like them!
