Pacific81
Cracking job on those assault guys, very nice! Just the right amount of armour wear/damage I think, it's very easy to go OTT and overwhelm the rest of the miniature. File location: Akaarn Tarn, personal log “Ah the combat shield, the single most under estimated piece of wargear available to the astartes. A slab of ceramite, crudely fashioned, strong enough to deflect all but the most determined blow, light enough to wield attached to the forearm. The perfect partner to the executioners axe, allowing the user to freely move from single to two handed strokes, providing the ability to weather and parry the enemies blows. A simple but effective weapon, it has saved my life on many occasions....” Veteran sergeant Akaarn Tarn, 7th assault squad, 19th assault company, XIIth legion. File location: Personal log Endryd Haar. File content: “Dear Endryd, I offer you my personal congratulations at your eventual exoneration. Thank you for your patience, and enduring the slight on your honour, for the record, I was never in any doubt as to your allegiance. We have need of your skills again, report to my office at 05.00hrs Terran standard and we will discuss our plans in more detail. M p.s. Interestingly, it was the speech you made to the 19th company that finally convinced the jury of your allegiance. I enclose it for posterity, along with some images of the 19ths deployment. You are truly the last of a ragged house Endryd, long bereft of Lordship, but you belong to something much bigger in its scale and vision...... ###copied audio transcript data entry begins### “Brothers, fellow warriors, We have sat in the shadows and have watched our legion descend into madness. We have endured the uncontrolled rage of our so called father. We have been shunned for our enduring loyalty to the emperor, banished to the corners of the galaxy to seek and destroy terrors that stalk the night. But our loyalty runs deeper, we lay down our lives for a vision vast in its ambition and millennia in its creation. A vision that is threatened by the actions of one who we once recognised as warmaster. It is clear to us now, that Horus has rebelled against the imperium. His reasoning is unclear but our gene father stands by his side, the loyal remnants of our legion lie slaughtered on the sands of Istvaan III. But we will not succumb to this heresy, and we will bring honour back to the name of our legion! We are shunned because we are feared and rightly so, for our fury comes from a deeper well, natural, innate, not manufactured by a fools design. We will endure and we will exact vengeance for those loyal to the XIIth, those murdered on Istvaan. For the emperor!” Endryd Haar. Extracts taken from a speech to loyal members of the XIIth legion under his command. M32. Well the people have asked, and so the army shots have been given! Hope you like them! Just wanted to say thanks again for the views, comments and likes. It’s encouraged me throughout the project, I hope it’s inspired a few to have a go at WE. Hopefully in time I will add to it! Cadmus Tyro
File type: medical report, text embedded images. File destination: Endryd Haar, personal account. File origin: Primus Medicae, Karnatern Subject: Enaarlus Yore “My esteemed Praetor, Please see the attached medical reports for captain Yore. I would urge you to strongly consider post engagement sedation for the captain, and it is my opinion he is no longer able to retain his position of command amongst the company. Whilst Yore’s personal combat record is exemplary, I have taken the liberty of exploring the increasing concern, raised from a variety of sources, regarding collateral losses. Having examined a variety of sources (including armour pict capture, enemy surveillance imaging, anecdotal accounts and autopsy reports), I am certain that the captain is no longer in full control of his aggression and therefore actions. Initially this seems to have been contained to battlefield engagements, but there is increasing evidence that this instability has been insidiously progressive in its nature. I have included all the aforementioned evidence and the “deprivation of liberty” documents for your consideration and consent. It would seem you were right to advise him against the “Nails”........ Karnatern” Well, I had my first game with the XIIth last week, it seems to have drawn me back in sooner than expected! I though a variety of HQs would allow me to shake things up a little with lists. LameBeard
I’m so happy to see you back with the XIIth! I like this guy - I like the pose, heavy chainsword conversion and basing particularly. Cadmus Tyro
Thanks Lamebeard, I wasn’t planning returning to them so soon, but only having Endryd Haar as a HQ is quite limiting, especially with the blackshield allies rules as well. I debated the second pad for a while, it does make the model look irregular, but I quite like that aesthetic, it lends itself well to the story behind him. He’s made from spare bits I had lying around! And no, he didn’t take Haars advice! Cadmus Tyro
“I understand, I understand why many of my brothers have accepted the idea of the “nails”. It draws them ever closer to him, as their acts of savagery draw his attention. There is a point where they complement the nature and skill of a warrior. Enhancing reactionary speed and pushing his enhanced biology ever onward, but this fine balance is not maintained for long. As the warrior descends further and further into the depths of their own savagery, natural skill declines, replaced by raw brutality. This might be enough against the foes of humanity, but it will not be enough to overcome my Father and the order of his creation.....” Extract from personal log, Endryd Haar, 19th assault company, XIIth legion. Well, first alternative character for the world eaters. Having a character with a jump pack will mean I don’t have to rely on a Spartan in every list, and can now run my list as traitor world eaters. He will run as a praetor, the chain blade counting as a paragon blade, or a champion as the compulsory HQ when fielding Angron. First adventure into gore effects for the world eaters, again trying to keep the weathering subtle. What do you reckon? Cadmus Tyro
File type: watch report, text, security feed pict image attached. Location: Ship log entry 455.556.89 File origin: Captain Tharan Jaern, captain of the watch. My esteemed Praetor, Attached is the report as per your request, I have kept it as brief as possible. The apothecaries tell me I will be back to light duties within 4 Terran standard days. For the record, with the greatest respect, we should have pursued them into the void..... Captain Jaern —————————————————— {0506hrs} reports received from a variety of ship intel sources of potential insurrection. Following Endryd Haars speech on the embarkation deck, several factions have openly voiced dissent in opposition to the decision for the company to side against the warmaster. {0530hrs} after a brief review of the evidence presented, I made the decision to place all suspects under house arrest pending further investigation. Three five man teams were dispatched throughout the ship to detain all potential officers implicated. Designated teams alpha through delta, armed as per protocol. I made the decision to accompany squad alpha. {0547} team beta report apprehension of first target, as expected due to target proximity. {0555hrs} vox contact lost with team delta, team beta dispatched to investigate. Ship alert status heightened to Vermilion. {0557hrs} arrived at Veteran Sergeant Kaerarb personal quarters. Upon unforced entry Sergeant Kaerarb was found to be fully armoured and accompanied by several members of 7th tactical squad. {0558hrs} delta team engaged in close range firefight and rapidly overwhelmed. All team members KIA or wounded (including myself) {0559hrs} team beta report similar fate of team alpha. {0601hrs} regained consciousness. Astartes assets mobilised to intercept 7th tactical squad. {0605hrs} rogue elements of 7th tactical squad and 11th assault squad led by Sergeant Kaerarb reported to have engaged deck crew level 7 hanger bay 14. 43 non astartes casualties reported, astartes assets en route. {0607hrs} stormbird “flight of reason” commandeered by rogue elements. Anti personal weaponry used to suppress astartes assets. {0609hrs} exit of ships hanger by forcible means, remaining deck crew killed by resulting decompression. Further loyalist astartes casualties sustained, X5 KIA, x10 MIA presumed lost in the void. {0610hrs} request made to pursue “flight of reason”, Xiphon interceptors primed in response to threat. Request declined, authority Endryd Haar. ——————————————————- Pict capture: Captain Jaern suit optics. Small update, I’m in the middle of painting a few despoilers and this chap is the sergeant. I made the head from the Iron hands upgrade kit, adding the nails from an old miscast rampager head and the rebreather from the landspeeder kit, I think he has a Sarum look about him? Forgot to pict capture the rest of the squad before I started painting them, so expect them to be finished when I eventually post them! Had a few games with the XIIth, I have to say, fleet, scout and rage on assault marines makes for an incredibly mobile unit (using blackshield rules). The deredeos are also very points efficient. They only have to look at light to medium armour and it evaporates! Hope you like him?! File location: Endryd Haar personal log. “They will never understand, on our return to Terra my actions in this war will be weighed and this decision will be counted against me. They will never understand, the bond that forms between warriors who have served for decades together, the desire to preserve the lives of those under your command. Even their treachery will not cause me to end their existence, I will not allow that part of my soul to perish....at least not yet” Pict capture: Rogue elements, 7th Tactical squad, 19th assault company, XIIth legion.
