File location: Endryd Haar personal log.

“The “crupellarii”, once the greatest honour to find a place within their ranks, now they are associated with infamy. Like so many who found favour with the Primarch, they have walked the crimson path, embracing the nails and the inevitable descent into madness.

Now they are unleashed upon the enemy rather that deployed, uncontrolled in their rage and excesses. They stand as a testament against the use of the nails within my company.

Imperial records will forever remember their formation as the crupellarii, an elite terminator company. But those of the legion know them by another name, the red butchers......”

I remember the red butchers being revealed at a horus heresy open day (remember those?), so many years ago! The original sculpts were all without helmets, they had so much character. Imagine my disappointment when they released them with an odd new pattern of helmet!

The kit is really detailed, but showing it’s age. I wanted to fix a few perceived problems with the kit. Firstly removing the helmets and adding some new heads. Secondly changing the top shoulder pads for the OOP Cataphractii world eater pads. This allows me to paint them separately and also gives the unit a more uniform silhouette.

Thirdly, most of the arms are modelled in full extension, which makes for some really odd poses. Instead, I repositioned some of the arms to get some more realistic poses out of them.

Hope you like them!?

The heads, arm adjustments and shoulder pads are all subtle changes which makes a big difference to the look of the unit. Bare heads feel more appropriate for a unit of crazed berserkers with little regard for their safety.

Excellent work brother!

Thanks mate, looking forward to getting them on the field!

They look great! How do they hold up in size compared to plastic termies and more recent equivalents?

Thanks Sarvis, they compare quite well to the current plastic Cataphractii, perhaps a tad bigger, but that comparison is hard to make give the poses of the butchers being more dynamic. Not sure about the current scale as I don’t own any of the newer sculpts, definitely smaller than the primarch sized IF praetor!

They look cracking with bare heads, definitely feels right for them. I also think that the uniformity brought by the replaced shoulder armour is a plus.

Thanks dude!

“I will never truly understand the Xth legion. Their predilection for the machine above the flesh. This over reliance, I fear, will be their downfall.

Although, I cannot help but admire how they press into service, even the most esoteric of constructs....”

Greetings folks, a slight distraction to the XIIth. Even since seeing Mark Phillips’ Minotaur, I knew I needed one for the iron hands.

It’s such a lovely kit, it even has the option to allow recoil action on the barrels. The challenge will be painting it, so I built it in two sections, which I will glue together after finishing the interior. It should work......in theory....

C&C welcome

Absolutely stunning and now I want one

Thanks AC, you should buy one, it’s an awesome kit. Went together much better than my more recent 30k tank projects.

Nicely done Minotaur!

Makes me wanna continue with my own, I got one half-built and one still unopened.

How hard was it to get the dozer blade attached? Is the sitting crew member from one of the Land Speeder kits?

Thanks, hope it inspires you to complete yours. I’m in the process of painting the crew and interior, shouldn’t be too long until it’s finished.

The legs on the seated crew member were from the OOP Damocles rhino kit, but the Mkiv speeder kit legs would work I reckon. I had to trim the seat a lot to fit him in though and the arms/levers were a pain. Still it works and was worth the effort.

The dozer curve on the back of the dozer was filed flat and then the prow of the Minotaur was trimmed to fit. Then supports trimmed and dropped in underneath to give a sense of robustness. Overall took about 20mins.

Looking forward to seeing yours ;)

Subject: “The wayward son”

My esteemed praetor,

Please see the details of my recent reconnaissance work at your command, the full report with pict capture image should be attached to this data burst.

I confess, with humility, that your initial orders caused a feeling of disquiet amongst my squad. The thought of covert action against our fellow brothers of the XIIth legion seemed....unnecessary.

However, what we have observed supports your reasoning and concern. I am ashamed to call them brothers and that they wear our heraldry, most certainly there has been a descent into madness and fury, further than I could have imagined possible.

Respectfully your servant,

Carthanus Achmund

Very nice work indeed, a great sculpt and you've done him justice.

Thanks Pearson, he’s perhaps my favourite Primarch sculpt and considering he was the first one released he’s stood the test of time well. I really like all the Primarch sculpts, but what sets Angron apart for me is how natural the pose is, some of the Primarchs look a little awkward but Angron and the unfortunate marines on his base are pretty much perfect.

Excellent work on all your models. I especially like the crew of the Minotaur; love how they fit with that beast.

Thanks for the comment Shovellovin! Hopefully we will see some rules for the Minotaur in 2.0!

Wow great work on this thread.

My favorite is your deredeo dreadnoughts with their air-defense loadout; they are expensive but I hope to get one someday!

Thanks mate, yes big fan of deredeos both in looks and in game, where they always seem to get their points back.
