Honestly the crypteks are my favorite part; I’m just worried that they’re going to leave out either the geomancer or the aethermancer, both of which are my two favorite types of cryptek.

I think GW May be trying to convince us to replace wraiths with the ophydians, but I’m not sure. They’re cool models though.

Also PLASTIC FLAYED ONES!!!

We went from 2 crypteks to 4 and you ask for 6?

I think it's unlikely due to the options we are getting on top of the different classes.

Considering my first necron codex was the one when we still had the Royal Court as an option, yes, I do ask for more.

I'm greedy, but what good Phaeron isn't? Territory and power only comes to those with the will to seize it. The way I read the thing was that we were getting four new crypteks, and the plasmancer was one of the new ones, with three more on the way--the psychomancer, the chronomancer, and another as-yet-unnamed cryptek (which is why I'm worried about losing either the aethermancer or the geomancer).

And for all we know, they're going to get rid of the finecast cryptek, especially as the new chronomancer gets his chronometron back, which was the finecast's one thing it had going for it.

My guess is Plasmancer, Chronomancer, Psychomancer, and canoptek cloak guy (Mechamancer?)

Any one else think some of the new characters need to move to elites? Getting way to many HQ options for are basic 2-3 slots we have open. Or maybe some modifications to the force org like if you have an overlord then a royal warden doesn’t count as an hq

Flayed Ones were all I needed to start a force. I'm off to the shop to begin, today, in preparation for the glorious release of what we saw today. :biggrin.:

Lol, what you going to buy? :smile.:

I grabbed the Elite Edition Starter set, just to get the ball rolling. I havent done much hobby for months/years (outside of reading) so my excitement at the Flayed Ones was very real. :biggrin.:

In fact, I talked to the owner, and was telling him I wasnt going to be buying anything, let alone new Necrons, until I saw them this morning.

EDIT: About the only other thing that could have sucked me in, would have been a World Eaters Codex + Kits. I think we are safe on that side for a good while though.

So here is some speculation I have.

The new obsydian destroyers are going to be a troops choice. GW said last stream that you will be able to field an entire detachment of destroyer units. And they did not reveal what force org slot this new unit fills.

It SM get the very beefy heavy intercessors as a troop choice I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch for the new destroyers.

Wasnt there a comment from warhammer Facebook about lokhust destroyers not replacing the regular ones? Despite being a bit ambiguous, I feel like the regular destroyer might be taking a hike in the new codex. And what we end up with is the lokhust, skorpekh, and the new one shown today.

Or maybe he has a couple more releases hidden around.

The old detachments remain valid no? Just fill out as FA or Elite or Heavy?

At the cost of CP for that though. Only Troop-centric detachments are refunded their cost if the Warlord is included.

I really like the idea of the Ophydian Destroyers being a Troop selection with their 4+ armour save. I also like the idea of Flayed Ones in the slot too though, really just anything to shake up Warriors and Immortals as the core (not knocking them but there's so much new why not?).

I could see the current Destroyers being lumped into the Lokhust cults, GW pretty much just has to sculpt the two gun options (one kinda since heavy gauss is on Stalker) and release the same torsos in two kits with some other subtle tweaks. As much as I like/have the old models it doesn't much make sense for any green rod toting stuff to remain after all this.

Yes but they indicated it being a new state of affairs. We technically could have done that all of 8th so unless it's a mistake to say we can now fill a detachment (which it very easily could be) it does make sense to think these might be troops.

One notable difference between Skorpekhs and these Ophydian Destroyers are the base strength. I might stick with Skorpekhs since I generally like my combat over S4.

Though in different slots, I can see many players contemplating between Ophydian Destroyers and Praetorians.
