Quick question on master-crafting.

If we give this relic to eg. a Sword Brother with twin lightning claws. Does the pair get master-crafted or only one claw (ie you'd make all attacks bar one with the MC claw and then one regular claw attack)?

Is that upgrade purchased as 1 entry called a pair of lightning claws or are sword/pistol each replaced by a separate claw? For the primaris version it’s a single upgrade called a pair, so all attacks would be master crafted. Looks like the firstborn version replaces boltguns/pistol separately, so only one is master crafted. The primaris version gets 2 lightning claws as well, as it turns out, so same situation. Can we talk about how cheap Templars are now btw, hear me out.

I just built one Crusader squad, I went all melee and decided to use the axe as a proxy fist, just to have some variety.

I then kept building, throwing the spare parts at the unused assault intercessor frames from Indomitus. I had enough auto bolt rifles for a 5 man squad, and enough spare melee arms for another 5 man squad, I still have some spare chainsword arms, two auto bolt rifles and the pyreblasters.

Considering how easy those assault intercessor frames are to buy on eBay, thanks to Indomitus, the starter boxes and Imperium magazine, it's now really affordable to have a lot of troops that look really Black Templar!

yea but they are primaris!

I noticed this too, and happy to hear a theory I had is gonna work! I bought an extra combat squad off ebay just to have some intercessors with autobolters.

I am kinda regretting that I put thunderhammers on my assault intercessor sergeants tbh

This is kind of what made me want to do templars (other than just liking painting black). I had a ton of assembled or nib box stuff, a lot of it melee (like bladeguard and aggressors and assault intercessors), midrange (eradicators, outriders, normal intercessors, redemptor, invictor) and characters; everything kind of can fit into BT list builds. Then I clipped all the spare reliquaries and purity seals from the marine sprues and some SoB stuff and I was able to make all my assault intercessors look rather zealous; I still have a ton of leftovers (not counting the crusader sprues) ready to enhance all the rest of my pile of shame.

Yeah, I have the 20 assault intercessor bodies to use... still wish I could make 'em tabards though. Also I'd actually need more of the auto bolt rifles. Hmm, several people did buy the army set at least locally, might have to ask around if anyone has unused leftovers.

Primaris crusader is cheap on secondary market currently. If you build 5 intercessors, convert the brethren to a BGV, and shelf the neophytes, the overall cost is still cheaper than buying original kits(1/2 box of intercessor plus 1/3 box of BGV).

Because SB have full tabards, I am now tempted to scrap my existing BGV with their standard aprons.

Thinking of remaking them using the SB kit bodies, but that's alot of work.

At least the SB capes from the crusader kit transfer well.

Yeah, the Sword Brethren have so many details and individual variations between them, they blow Bladeguard Veterans (and every other Primaris kit until the BT update) out of the water. When they were first revealed I thought BG Vets were a return to form, but now they feel more akin to a step in the right direction, but sti not quite there. Despite being "veterans" they're identical with the exception of the placement of pouches and purity seals. The same goes for the characters. I remember thinking Calgar's big marine update looked alright (if a bit bereft of bling), but now, compared to Helbrecht? He feels positively plain.

We should be very thankful; it's clear our update had a lot of passion put into it. The design team preserved the feel of the old models, instead of changing them. We got an update, not a revamp. The latter always has a chance of turning out something like the new Shrike. Shrike doesn't even have a unique pauldron on his right shoulder, it's completely generic. Now I know the Raven Guard aren't into gaudy armor, but come on (if anyone likes that model, I respect your opinion).

Given how Helbrecht has been assembled by a number of the contributers in today's article, we now have confirmation that he doesn't have to have the ork there, and still looks fine without - seems to be a little bit of extra rock for the purpose.

Looking at the sprues and additional pics... yeah, definitely gonna try the SB as BGV. I'm just not sure what I'll use as the shield arms yet. May go with firstborn arms. Incidentally it's easier to add FW storm shields onto these than to the Indomitus BGV models (beyond Lt and Cap), unless also doing a full arm swamp for the latter. But that kinda looks wrong on BGV given their own style of bracers.

I would like  to put a thousand sons guy under the blade too. I think it would be thematic

Gonna have to see how I'm going to base Helbrecht exactly. My new Templar base is supposed to be the "Templar Abbey" pattern from GSW, so I'll have to work within that. Might magnetize his feet so he can be moved to the original base for display as well, though.

So has anyone tried to make a stern guard squad or something that takes advantage of that flamer strat? It seems like it could be pretty cool to have a squad of them come down in a drop pod or something to roast a squad alive

blackhydra - a german youtuber did it. I would say successful -  its not competitive for top levels but it can hurt some opponents very hard.

I don't understand these bundles they have for us. They include an "exclusive art" that is just our cover art that's able to hung on a wall, and because of that, we pay $50 usd more than the kits separated. Crusade that logic...

I am kinda sad that the combat patrol box would be a little lacking for me, considering I now have a crusader squad and an incursor squad. Still, would be nice to get if I want an impulsor...

why can't we have more than one primaris tank with a 10 model capacity anyways? I would want GW to make a new one but I am afraid that if any eldar player heard that I would be drop kicked out the LFGS

Its exactly that.

It's some signed artwork, but can only be purchased as part of a bundle.

So I severely underestimated the toughness of my primaris crusader squad. Deployed them out of cover, in the open and in front of a deathwatch terminator squad with 3 cyclone Missile launchers. Bad dice saw me lose all 20 men and 2 CPs in turn 1. Opponent even warned me that I should have put them behind a ruin at least, but I was too stubborn for my own good! My champion of the feast ran away at the end of it too.

deathwatch don’t fool around, and I really don’t understand their rules that good lol
