jaxom
Bound Daemon Regent complete! The horns/growths fill in the space but the orientation perpendicular to the head leaves it unobscured. Started on the next one. This and the first will be the two Bound Daemon Attendants, so I'm making them reflections of each other, one for each side of the Regent. I don't think I'm going to match the poses, just where the spikey bits are. jaxom
Number three is done! And that's one unit built. I made a bit of an addition to the Daemon Regent as he was looking a little scrawny next to the other two. I'll give him a little extra height too (with cork on the base) when I base them. jaxom
Second squad, which may become the Regent and Attendants because reasons, are in progress. The initial idea: I then played around with some arm options. Pinned and glued Remove fist with jeweler's saw Trim excess plastic with scalpel Core hole and match with blade/claw of choice More claws Didn't grab pictures of the process, but I used the saw to trim the robot neck and a Blightdrone head, and made some alterations to hips and here's where I'm at: and I'm a little torn for final stance on Big Head. To base him flat: or to base him at a tilt: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364144-frenetic-laziness-gnarlmaw-done-91124/page/2/#findComment-5925347 Share on other sites
Firedrake Cordova
I really like these conversions. I bet they'll look fantastic when painted jaxom 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364144-frenetic-laziness-gnarlmaw-done-91124/page/2/#findComment-5925398 Share on other sites

Boc
These are so awesome but I'm jonesing to see some paint! Envious of your ability to kitbash, truly. jaxom
I was planning on priming today, but the weather turned I may still be able to if it clears up. The plan is to use an Iron Warriors style paint job on the majority and then I was thinking of a ghostly green for the flesh/possessing spirits. Probably bone for the the claws. Here's the last one: EDIT: Why no head? Pareidolia, I can't not see the little face and don't want to cover it up. jaxom
Not entirely done, but enough to get an idea of what it will be like. I can't tell if the overall scheme needs something more. Firedrake Cordova
I like it. You've kept the metal of the carapace dull and dark(ish), so the head remains the lightest/most attention-grabbing feature. jaxom 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364144-frenetic-laziness-gnarlmaw-done-91124/page/2/#findComment-5934177 Share on other sites

jaxom
Spring is always busy with less time for hobby, but I've got some more done! Just the red carapace and bone. Next up will be the metallic areas. jaxom
Three done and experimenting with frost on the base because of warp shenanigans lowering the temperature (and to increase contrast between a darker toned model and a black base) Firedrake Cordova and ZeroWolf 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364144-frenetic-laziness-gnarlmaw-done-91124/page/2/#findComment-5955166 Share on other sites
jaxom
Valuable lesson learned: Pro Acryl Titanium White is absolutely packed with pigment and may not have been the best choice for a glaze. Firedrake Cordova
Doh! Hopefully it's recoverable with some care Would it be worth drybrushing the base around the models with white to depict frost? I'm just thinking that frost generally settles on upper surfaces (leaves, blades of grass, etc) jaxom 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364144-frenetic-laziness-gnarlmaw-done-91124/page/2/#findComment-5955840 Share on other sites

jaxom
So, uh... finally somewhat set up after moving. I've much more limited space and will be focusing on my Nurgle Daemons and Space Marines until I move again. I saw a video a while back for an all-in-one airbrush and decided to take the plunge. I'm using Vince Venturella's cleaning technique, hence the isopropyl alcohol and the two mugs. Nurgle Daemons are a great place to experiment because they can look great even when something goes awry. Pro Acrylic Black Primer And then Pro Acrylic White Primer zenithal I used a 1:3-ish, 1:4-ish thinner-to-paint ratio. jaxom
I should probably be more patient, take time to lay down things in layers, but it's really hard to when there's only one model.
