Heraclite
Of course! It'll just have to wait for the outriders though. I vowed them for the call to arms and they will likely be part of my august vow for the 12 MoH so the wait won't be too long kabaakaba and Dr_Ruminahui 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364347-heraclites-hobby-thread/page/9/#findComment-6179462 Share on other sites
Heraclite
Made some progress on my CTA and 12MoH vow by finishing my converted terminator chaplain. My chapter is an ultramarine successor and some of it's senior members are former ultramarines themselves, including this guy, who goes into battle carrying a tattered ultramarine banner as a relic Edited July 16 by Heraclite formating BadgersinHills, Grotsmasha, Dr_Ruminahui and 5 others 2 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364347-heraclites-hobby-thread/page/9/#findComment-6179647 Share on other sites
Heraclite
After two weeks travelling through France for the holidays I finally found some time for some hobby. First I based my whole Tyranid force so I can spray them tomorrow, the plan is to set a painting assembly line to work on them with my kids. While the wall filler was out, I also added some on the base of the imperium magazine exclusive captain I found for cheap on vinted He'll be a count as sicarius to lead a squad of converted victrix guard for my chapter. I'm still waiting for the models but expect some conversions soonish! Then I picked up the brushes and completed the smallest part of my august 12MoH vow in the form of a teleport homer For now I'm working on my last two outriders, who should be finished by the end of the week at most Firedrake Cordova, deathspectersgt7, Rusted Boltgun and 3 others 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364347-heraclites-hobby-thread/page/9/#findComment-6181572 Share on other sites
Brother Christopher
I've missed a lot of your progress. The Chaplain and Captain have to be my favourites. The crozuis (is it from the Chappy on bike kit?) is a great choice of bits. I think the one(s?) available in the original Primaris Terminator Chaplain kit is lacking. Heraclite
It is indeed the one from the bike chaplain. But mostly because that's the only one I had... My bike chaplain will have the exact same one. Heraclite
My wife got me a primaris ancient for my birthday. I built it with the 2 handed banner because it would have been too difficult to reuse that banner with another model, without the left arm that is already attached to the body. But the second banner (one handed) is far easier to use for a conversion. With a spare internus marine body, I managed to build this guy, who will be my 3rd company ancient. I'm still not decided on the pose and thought I could use some feedback from the good fraters of the BandC! I'm hesitating between this pose, somehow reminiscent of the power sword ancient official version And this one, with more of an ongoing fight vibe What do you think works best? kabaakaba
Hm, the first one is a bit unnatural, like he posing with sword and banner. And the second one is like he is surprised that he holds a banner on his hand. Could you turn his hand on the camera and make him saluting with his sword? Heraclite
I had toyed with the idea of having him holding his sword in front of him, but it didn't really look natural. I went with the second pose, because I kinda like the sort of 2 dimensional look that it gives, like old metal models, though I see what you mean with the fact that he looks surprised that he's holding a banner, I'll just make him look the other way to make him face whatever is coming at him. I didn't take a pic but will try to do so later. (Edit : pic added) On the other hand, I got to work on the last mini of my 12 MoH vow for august and finished it almost in one sitting (I just did a few touch ups this morning before heading to work) Here's Grease Monkey from the last chancers Edited August 18 by Heraclite Adding picture Dr_Ruminahui, deathspectersgt7 and Firedrake Cordova 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364347-heraclites-hobby-thread/page/9/#findComment-6183007 Share on other sites
Heraclite
I had a rather productive weekend, while I wait for a few orders to make some custom vanguard veterans and victrix guard. Having already finished my 12 MoH and CTA vows. I thought I'd just do something simple and refreshing in the form of a custom harpoon grot for kill team Since I don't have a bomb squig I also tried to kitbash a count as in the form of a base with 2 grots, one with combat weapons, one holding a grenade and a snotling pulling a box of ammo on top of which I added some sprue made dynamite. All three are glued to an empty sprue for priming so I didn't take a picture. But it should represent a bomb squig rather well. I still had some time after that and tackled the last chancer that was supposed to be made in September, here's Demolition man Rusted Boltgun and Dr_Ruminahui 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364347-heraclites-hobby-thread/page/9/#findComment-6183632 Share on other sites
Heraclite
I finally received the birthday presents from my parents and sister, and quickly went to town on the armageddon captain and ancient The ancient was turned into a victrix champion, using one of the heads from the captain kit, two old powerswords and the backpack from the biker chaplain Then I did the captain, I had ordered an old vanguard squad from vinted specifically to get the double headed axe. He also got the leather strap from the biker chaplain's crozius and the stock bare head from the kit The laureled head went to my 3rd company ancient from further up in the thread As I obtained a few jump packs...I ordered some assault intercessor bodies to turn into vanguard veterans... More building on the horizon! Heraclite
My birthday gift also came with the intercessors from the armageddon box. Inspired by Brother Christopher's endeavours with his purple marines, I wanted to build them with the classic Tactical Squad loadout (just in time for it to be canned by GW , it's in these times that you appreciate not playing the game !) I didn't go as far as Brother Christopher who completely rebuilt a flamer in the clasic style, but rather I had saved an extra infernus marine just for this occasion. While building the squad, one of the pegs holding the bolter arm on the marine firing his pistol (the bolt rifle for this mini is out of ammo) just snapped. As I also had the arm holding the flamer from the Combat Patrol exclusive infernus sergeant (who is also out of fuel with his flamer), the alignment of the planets was too perfect and I just went with this solution instead. I had built a missile launcher from an old hunter killer missile, a pair of binoculars from the eliminators kit and an assortment of gubbins taken from various parts, and grafted it on an arm initially hodling a heavy bolt pistol (I guess from the ETB assault intercessors). The spare infernus body thus became the missile launcher toting marine. I also had to surgically reconstruct a right hand from the open left hand that comes with the intercessor kit, when looking up close, his palm seems rather long, but from a distance it does the job quite well This meant I now had an extra body to make the last regular member of my custom victrix guard. I chose the body from the auspex guy as it had a fancier breastplate (with crossed bones behind the skull), gave him the nice eagle headed hilt sword from the ancient kit and an old regular boltgun (a proper relic for a proper elite marine!) and gave him the helmet from the armageddon ancient. Heraclite
As I said earlier, I had ordered an old squad of vanguard vets just to get the axe for the captain. But it also meant I would get 5 jump packs, 5 fancy heads, some assorted shoulder pads and 5 bodies to make press moulds with to help pass those lovely details to somewhat blander primaris marines. I also got a cheap lot of 3 assault marines just for the jump packs. Which left me with 8 jump packs, enough to make a vanguard squad, a jump chaplain, a jump ancient and the last one will surely go to a jump librarian. But now I had to get some bodies to build all those guys. I once again opted for vinted and found a nice lot containing 7 assault intercessor bodies, the freebie internus marine, and one of the original etb intercessors plus some extra bits, including a classic missile launcher backpack that was given to the tactical marine above. The intercessor went straight to the bits box, waiting for the next project, the infernus marine will be painted for my wife (she asked me for a marine in the style of these guys), and I started building the vanguard veterans. I decided to go with a mixed loadout like in the vanguard squads of old. I gave them some details made of sprue goo in press moulds. I'm still waiting for some of those to dry to finish blinging them up MoriyaSchism and Dr_Ruminahui 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364347-heraclites-hobby-thread/page/9/#findComment-6185045 Share on other sites

Brother Christopher
I've been offline for the better part of August and missed a lot of awesome progress here. I've gotta say - I like what I'm seeing here! Great kitbashes, great use of (old) bits, amazing creativity (especially with the missile launcher). I can't wait to see them painted. And I'm quite blown away by the army and squads' shots from this post. These kinds of updates are probably one of the most satisfying things a hobbyist can share. space wolf
Love the old school jumppacks. Wish I could get my hands on those. Makes both your chaplain and ancient, look like true space marines. While I love the primaris proportions, I think they lack the character that the old firstborn had. You're conversions do them justice.
