I received the old ancient yesterday and just had to complete the terminator ancient. Most of the details on the banner were filed away with a Dremel to leave room for a freehand of my first company emblem already featured on my terminator captain which is the emblem of the french first regiment of cuirassiers

The donor ancient was then turned into a regular intercessor with auxiliary grenade launcher

The bolt rifle is the one removed from the armageddon sergeant with a bit of plastic surgery involving the grenade launcher part taken from the regular intercessor kit. It's not seamless (it's actually cleaner on the hidden side...) but once painted should look just fine

The combat patrol magazine is great in that regard as it supplies me with a lot of different projects to switch to if I ever get bored of my marines.

I kind of regret that Combat Patrol isn't available in Poland. I think I would've loved to subscribe. It seems decently priced and offers a nice variety of minis.

I miss the times that we had banners without sculpted heraldry. Removing these and attempting to get a flat surface is a pain in the neck.

And this guy is great. Looking at him, he gives off some serious Space Marine 2 vibes - I immediately think of the the animation when squad members shout "For the Emperor" during an Operation. I wouldn't worry too much about the slightly messy bit - as you said, it should be fine with some paint on. Alternatively, you can try using some putty to fix it but I'd say it's not worth the extra effort.

Looking for some advice here.

I still haven't started on my mega boss as I can't decide how to paint him.

I'm planning to convert the combat patrol Orks into a kommando kill team, from the blood axe clan.

It would make sense to paint the Warboss as a blood axe too. That's option 1 : trying to paint his mega armor with an old school steel legion tank camo scheme.

Option 2 would be to paint him as a bad moon, as mega armor must be expensive and he would have enough teef to pay for it.

The question is, can members of an Ork warband come from different clans?

And what do you think would be cooler?

iirc nothing stop work from any clan to join warband. and I'm voting for camo

100% Camo...I based my kommandos on predator:

i found that to be a great source of inspiration. Ive always loved it when people paint multiple different types of animal camo prints on their clothes...like tiger next to leopard and zebra, etc. So that may be an idea for the small amounts of cloth seen in the warboss in mega armor model.

Yeah I was planning (maybe on the Warboss but probably more on the kill team members) to use camo that is absolutely ineffective. Like you can see on every day (questionable) items of clothing... Pink, yellow, orange camos

I'm mixing clans in my Ork warband - I started with Goff Boyz, a Blood Ax Deff Dread and I'm planning some Bad Moons and Freebooterz.

I started with a traditional green for my Blood Ax dread which, for me, worked on a large scale model but I've switched to pink on my Blood Axe Big Mek to make the smaller model stand out on the tabletop.

Well... I didn't just start but finished the mega boss this afternoon.

Here comes Gen'ral Grog Steelcrusha Da Walkin' Wagon.

Joining Ghazgkull's Great Waagh on Armageddon at the head of his Blood Axe tribe, Da Profeshonalz. His brightest idea so far was to disguise himself as a steel legion tank to infiltrate an imperial materiel depot - "Coz if ya drez like da humies, da humies kan't seez ya" - ...and succeeding, single handedly destroying a company's worth of assorted transports. Though in reality it had almost nothing to do with his brilliant camouflage but rather because of a massive sandstorm that hid his effraction and prevented a coordinated response by the small garrison affected to the depot. Nonetheless, he insists now on keeping his signature camouflage.

Mostly their own belief...I really don't know much yet but I guess that like their boss, they'll mostly be successful through luck and circumstances, further fueling their belief that they're the best at what they do.

Back to marines for now (I haven't primed any more Orks and will wait til I receive the second squad to finish making the kommando kill team before doing so)

I did two auxiliary grenade launcher marines (one from the armageddon squad, the other made from the dark imperium ancient). They are joining my 2nd company 1st intercessor squad as it didn't include any grenade launchers (it was made from the etb/launch box marines that came with Hachette Conquest magazines).

The extra two marines will go to my 4th company tactical squad

After finishing the Warboss yesterday I also did a little something. I wasn't planning to show it as it's a secret Santa present for a co worker who is just starting 40k and has expressed interest in eldars, but it's very unlikely he's going to see it here so why not post it?

Fun fact, the mini is almost as old as me, and about 10 years older than my colleague!

Wow, you've been really busy over the last week. I had a quick look at the minis and they're great. I'll need to take a closer look, though, when I have a moment. The things that stand out are definitely the Jump Pack Chaplain, the banners and the Harlequin (something a bit unexpected).

I wasn't planning to start on him so soon. But I have so much momentum right now that I have to keep going before it ends! Here's a little sneak peek at tonight's efforts, he'll probably be done tomorrow or Friday
