Two more units for the second platoon; the command squad and second infantry squad :) :

The heavy weapon squad is now on the table and when that is finished, it will complete the second platoon :) .

Cheers :)  but I can't claim the prestige of casting them up, that was done by someone else so that I could focus on getting the sculpting done :) .

The final unit of second platoon is now finished; the heavy weapon squad:

Next up... the third platoon (which is likely to be the last of the basic infantry).

What is the organization of your platoons?

I have a command squad, two infantry squads and a heavy weapon squad in each platoon.

When the army is finished it will be a company; having three platoons and a command platoon which will be differently organised with attached specialist units (like Ratling snipers, for example).

In amongst the units will be an Engineseer with servitors, some primaris psykers and some advisors... plus the Ratlings.

Once I have that complete, I may add a few more infantry squads but ideally, I want to keep the little army to around 100 to 125 strong.

I have not looked into 10th edition very much and have organised this around 8th edition... but it's a display army, not a gaming army so it won't be a tactical miracle just something to look at :) .

I was curious for lore reasons actually. They look good.

From a lore perspective, it goes all the way back to the organisation diagrams in the second edition Imperial Guard Codex :) . A standard platoon was a command squad with two to five infantry squads and added support elements. Each company was made up of three platoons with an overall company command squad. A company could have extra platoons.

It sort of mirrors the British Army way of platoon building, except that a squad is usually eight men (split into two fireteams) and the command squad has support units attached to it.

As much as the miniatures are Space Dwarfs, they are very much aligned with the Astra Militarum/Imperial Guard background and it is the best way to deal with the whole proxy thing.

Do you have FOBs? Armour? Arty? Etc... and if so are they just a support element in a platoon?

I have no plans to add vehicles to this particular project because it's an infantry based one for display... and it was a "bucket list" thing for me to create an army of troops that I made myself.

I have an armoured company but no artillery... and the armoured company is one that I converted for my other Squat Astra Militarum army (made up of the 1980s, plastic Squats).

This is the armoured company (with engineseer and servitors and their Chimera):

All of the tanks are converted from "World War Toon" King Tiger tanks from Meng.

At the back, there is a Hydra, a Leman Russ executioner (with company commander) and the Engineseer with his chimera. There are also 3 Leman Russ with battle cannon, 3 with punishers and 3 with executioners.

I also have four taurox and a hellhound (not pictured).

Going back to organisation, I would either add them as a full company or as smaller components that would be attached to the company command platoon.

Those look pretty good.  What chassis are the taurox based on?

I based the Taurox on toon Tigers... but radically converted them to look more like tank hunters:

... and I based the Hellhound on a toon Churchill:

The Chimera conversions are really quite tricky so I am still on the fence about whether I convert them the same way or choose a different design (saying that the Engineseer would have a custom Chimera instead of the standard/new design)...

Here's a pic of the completed units with command/sniper elements at the top and two platoons of troops:

I have the third platoon to paint (currently WIP), 4 Servitors to sculpt/paint and an Astropath to sculpt/paint and the army will be complete :) ...

... Roll on 2024 so I can finally get this project finished :) (before I start the next one ;) :) ).

Just for information, the latest Kickstarter has been started; this time for the Engineseer, Thor, Air Advisor and Artillery Advisor (plus a big robot that I didn't sculpt):

It's been a while... a bit of sculpting for other people has interrupted things... but here's a WIP for an Astropath:

All that needs to be finished is his staff/stave. Once this one is cast up, it will enable all of the advisors to join the army (advisors are now taken as a unit of Artillery/Airforce/Astropath models instead of being taken separately).

Then it's four servitors and that's it for the army :) ...

More amazing work. Nice one! Wish I had half your skill.

Practice... practice... practice :) . That's what I did :) .

It may just be toy soldiers but it also comes with a cost :( ...

I just need to sort a base for it to all fit on now :) .
