I don't play much but these new rules do open up some fun possibilities for custom characters and remind me of 3rd ed wargear options.

You've already come up with some cool concepts

Thanks! I agree it adds that old 3rd ed feel and I have a few more planned.

  • Paragon Warsuit commander
  • Enthroned Agent (Inquisitor Lord Karamazov count as)
  • Another Canoness (maybe)
  • Nemesis Dreadknight Champion (Brother Captain)
  • Martial agent, In Between Inquisitor Lord and an Interrogator

I was able to get some time to work on models and remember to take photos of the Retributor bases!

Primed Army Painter Matt Black and a zenithal of matt white

Hoses-No zenithal (yet) will need to get done before mounting them.

While Priming Black I Primed the Sanctifiers. I then did a heavy White zenithal on the Confessor and Miraculist

and then started flesh tones on Cherubs

Forgot to drill the Bolt pistols on one Seraphim will take care of that today.....

Washed base toppers so they should be dry and I can glue them to bases.

As I side project and just trying to get stuff built, I finished building the hospitaller and the causality but I may have to sculpt stuff to the base and add a power pack to her.  No pictures but I will get some.

As always, inspiring pace of work.

I'm not familiar with the SoB line - is this a kitbash or does GW produce a similar 'proper' kit?

Hospitaller and causality WIP

Either way, it's looking great. If it's a kitbash, adding a backpack - while cool - can result in more reposing/readjusting that's not really worth it. What seems most problematic is readjusting the back/legs to account for the 'height' added by the backpack. I'm slowly learning to let things go and sometimes forsake doing things right for the same of streamlining the process. Details matter, but what matters more is getting the message/vibes across.

Pace of work is not actually that fast, like space marines finding that rhythm and just building until you hit a point and have to stop. I have built a few plastic sisters in my days.

It is the actual kit.

The base the Sister Hospitaller comes on  has a spot for the causality sister (missing her backpack) and the bolter molded to the ground. I think I have a handless bolter I can throw on there.  Plus with this base the causality is reach for the Hospitaller instead of away from her.

Yeah, I like your placement better - her reaching towards the hospitalier tells a much more evocative story.

As for the bolter, even if you can't find a handleless one, you may be able to tuck it under her body so the lack of handle isn't visible.  Or, if you need to, I have a bunch of 3rd ed (and 2nd ed, for that matter) marine bolters and could send you one if you need it.  Send me a message if you do.

That said, I don't know if it really needs the bolter - there's no reason she couldn't have dropped it just off the base (or just outside the shot, as it were).

Which face did you use for the hospitalier?

Placement wise, have you considered putting the hospitalier a bit further into the base?  Its probably just me, but I'm not a big fan of models perched on the edges of their bases.  Plus, if the placement works, having the downed sister trying to touch the hospitalier's sleave/robe might be emotionally poignant.

thanks, I agree it tells a better story.

I think not having the bolter would also tell a better story of the Hospitaller being non combative in a battle zone.

Respirator head, so much cooler.

I have not finalized either models placement on the base as of yet and actually have candles coming in to add to bases.
