In my ongoing series to paint up individual models - first being an Ultramarine, second is a White Scar and now a Dark Angel arrives! It is an exercise to take a break from my armies but also to paint up tribute models to armies of note.

In this case it's extra special because in days long gone I originally wanted to collect Dark Angels. I did do a very small 30k DA force before that was a proper thing and have come dangerously close to starting Consecrators more than once. About time I got round to green Dark Angels then? :tongue.:

I've kept him more basic on the DA bits, as the idea is to paint up ordinary battle line Marines rather than anything fancy like 1st Company etc. The plan is to paint him up properly so that includes Tactical markings and the like, so I'll need to decide on a company. Last but not least any suggestions or tips etc for painting him up are welcome

He's top of my list as I've made progress on the other chapters, but only got as far as priming for the DA. I need to sort a colour method, I have plenty of greens in particular the obvious in Dark Angels/Caliban Green but now I've had to think about doing it I'm not sure how best to go about choosing. It's a pretty dark colour so it feels like a base and a highlight isn't going to work as well as it can elsewhere?

Anyone got their models and methods to share and help me sort my approach? :smile.:

Maybe startt with the darkest green and built it up? You can then stop when you've decided it's green enough! Personally I think DA should be a dark green anyway so I don't think you want to risk going to light. 4th Company sounds good with a red bolter so I approve of this :tu:
