Sword Brother Adelard
Hello my fellow knightly themed space marine brethren! I'm wondering if anyone with experience of building the Terminator Sergeant model from Dark Vengeance could tell me if it would take a head swap with a Grey Knight Terminator helmet? My Templar Terminators are all converted from Deathwing Knights with Grey Knight helmets, and I'm running out of poses! I have two of each knight sculpt and wanted to try the Barachiel model, (minus the 'wings') as the base for a terminator ancient. But, it's not easy to find one NOS, so thought I'd ask to see if I'm barking up the wrong tree before I spend money. WARMASTER_
Unfortunately mate it will be difficult :( the head is moulded into the chest piece so you’d have to carve it out neatly which might not be possible My suggestion would be to venture into the other terminator suits, the Tartarus pattern legs & arms fit nicely on the DW Knight torsos so they make cool poses as you’re running out Hope this helps Aias and Sword Brother Adelard 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/367861-modelling-question-dark-vengeance-terminator-sergeant/#findComment-5635854 Share on other sites
bigtrouble
It’s heavily molded in and a lot of the decorative bits are attached to the head. I wouldn’t recommend a swap. Sword Brother Adelard
Thanks guys, that's really helpful! I did manage to get the moulded in hood out of one of the deathwing knights, but that was a faff. I may have to have another look for a suitable donor model. WrathOfTheLion
It's molded in, so would need to get it out using something like a dremel. Won't be an easy task, I would have a plan before doing it if that's what you wish to do. Sword Brother Adelard
I think it would be easier if it was on sprue, but I tracked down a really cheap one for hacking about. (I have an electric rotary nail file which is pretty handy for the really aggressive tasks. I also have some confidence after having dug out the moulded on head on the Knight, but for £3 for the model, it's worth a hack about! WrathOfTheLion
Go for it. Not certain how the cavity will end up being given that it's a push-fit model, so you'll probably need to do some work on the GK terminator helmet as well. I did for the knight too, its by no means neat, but I couldn't justify two hoods in a Templar squad, Hoods are just that little bit too Unforgiven. I'm fluffing that guy as a wanna be Chaplain, about to take his vow of silence before becoming a Judiciar. (My Judiciar conversely is hooded, he has the plastic Interrogator chaplain head.) Fierce Bear
I have done it a couple of times Brother Adelard, it is a faff, the best way is taking the head section from the sprue and applying a series of 1/2/3 mm drill bits from the unmodelled side to drill out the head and a clean up with an exacto scapel, pretty tricky and a few details will suffer in the process. I've replace with a GK head and a Hooded DWK head, swapping weapons for variation too, I take the pain because I want all my Sergeants to have the feathered head gear, I also don't like the bionic eye... The heads themselves cover the cavity well, I don't think I used any green stuff... Good luck with your kitbashing! Sword Brother Adelard
Cheers for the advice guys. I'm also gonna have a crack at a knackered Belial I found. A lot of stuff to remove, but could be a nice look.
