I haven't vowed anything for july and, to be honest, didn't even touch a brush since my last completion, due to work around the house. But I'm on vacation right now and started working on veteran assault intercessors.

The backpacks were done a while ago, and I did their heads yesterday, but here's a before pic :

I, Heraclite, vow to paint four veteran assault intercessors by the end of the month

I, WGEinar, embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of  August pledge to complete 3 Ultramarines 4th Company Inceptors by month's end.

Been a while since I have done this :smile.:

Hey bud, great to see you back :tu:

I, andes, continue the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of August pledge to complete six Ork Warbikers ten Beast Snagga Boyz.

Crap.  I missed the deadline.  I have been struggling a bit with burn out but also a refocus on how I spend my free time.  In fact I am considering bowing out of the challenge as I have found I am not enjoying the painting as much by trying to get it done within deadlines and I feel I am turning my hobby into work.  But then again I am over committing and making silly commitments.  Eh, I am doing some souls searching but don't worry, I am not gone.  Just refocussing.

This one might be a challenge, Characters and vehicles can both drag a bit as I don't always get into a routine with them.

Deadlines are definitely a motivation killer. Unlike last year, with the Campaign, there's no pressure to vow numerous units each month. So if you need to slow down, do it. One model a month is all that's required, and it doesn't even have to be start to finish, rebasing or finishing a base counts too. If you need to take a proper break, do it. We hobby because we enjoy it, if you're not enjoying it, and it feels like work, take the break and if you find a way to enjoy the hobby again the B&C and The Challenge will be here :tu:

Alright boys, strap yourself in, because I've got a big one! With the GK codex releasing in 2 weeks from now, I'm finishing my Dark Angel backlog before I make the switch to the Grey Knights. So let's roll, for the Lion! Massive burnout incoming...

Dark Angels

1. Indomitus Captain (nearly done)

2. Terminator Librarian (nearly done)

3. Venerable Contemptor Mikhail (nearly done, going to be missing one arm, as I don't have the joint to magnetise that side). 2 x Volkites, 1 Claw. Fluff will be provided as well for him.

4. Primaris Chaplain on Bike

5. Primaris Lieutenant Zakariah (nearly done)

6. Master in Gravis Armor - new and improved!

And to round this whole vow off (with the caveat it's possible for my friend to drop him off after lockdown (if it ends))..

7. Leviathan Dreadnought with 2 siege drills, Cyclonic Melta Lance, and grav flux bombard, fully magnetised.

Let's get the ball rolling for this month.. presenting my Master in Gravis Armor! Not my best work, but enough of an improvement over the predecessor a few months ago. Probably the value is in the conversion..

I, Jaipii, continue the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of August pledge to complete a Vanguard Veteran Sergeant and two Vanguard Veterans of the Raven Guard Chapter.

I, LameBeard, for the month of August, vow one heresy-era Blood Angel recon marine (chap on the right).

Any heresy buffs out there know if there is a specific symbol for recon squads for the shoulder pad?

So, having had a tough week home schooling (my boy is VERY anti-school), I took today as a personal day and spent way more time NOT doing my current Word Bearers / Space Wolves commission. Instead I did a thing that has been a LONG, LONG time in the making. After my 3D printer having spent the last ~9 months or so out of action, my brother and I finally got it sorted on Friday afternoon, and after several attempts, and restarts, I was a very happy chappy.

BUT....this model probably won't make any sense to any of you as it's a bit of an "in" joke, you see it all started way back in 2011, with voltronmarine's thread "new to warhammer 4,000", which kicked of a response from me. "Not so new to warhammer 4,000".

Jumping to 2018, 2019, or there abouts, I was upgrading my Tablet and started transferring all my data, and low and behold I found those original images again. I'd recently began dabbling in 3D printing and the next logical step leapt into my brain. Using Tinkercad, I made the model, but then never got around to printing it, there was always something more pressing, then the printer stopped working, and it never happened.

But today, when I woke up, I raced downstairs, and out to the garage.....man I had the biggest smile as I was pulling the bits from the print bed, so here we go, the pieced removed from the supports,

gallery_48988_17119_77178.jpg

So, now that I had one printed, was I about to just leave it there in pieces?

Hell no!

gallery_48988_17119_58623.jpg

So now that it was assembled and primed, was I about to let it disappear into my pile'o'shame?

Hell no!

I smile everytime I see it.

It's pretty rough, FDM printers will do that, and if I didn't have to replace the FEP sheet on my resin printer, I would have used that (actually, maybe I should get around to that...).

I've also made a Bolter variant, and a mkVII helmet variant, whish is printing now....

Today was a good day. I received a big box of goodies from the US. I had 12 of the 13 Koyo pins, and all I was missing was the Rare Gold, so I hit up a couple of eBayers who had them for Sale, asking if they were open to a trade. It turns out, yes, yes they were. They were interested in a bunch of Heresy stuff I was happy to let go of in exchange for a BUNCH of the Barnes and Noble exclusive stuff as well as the Pin.

gallery_48988_6285_183043.jpg

So, in the box we've got;

Space Marine Heroes: Labyrinth of the Necron, and it's two expansions.

Space Marine Heroes: Rise of the Orks

Combat Arena

Crypt Hunters

Blitz Bowl S01, and S02

and 4 BB teams, Halflings, Undead, Chaos, and Skaven

I don't think there is one, but I would PM OakRiver - he has a fantastic imagination for the HH-era BAs

I, Troakir, embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of August pledge to complete more Treeranids by month's end.

And completely ignoring the sisters that are looking at me accusingly waiting for their turn.

From the 'A Bug's Life' thread:

Well, this is going to be a challenging month, but I need to push through the horde of small fry before I can dare working on the bigger ones, as otherwise I end up with just the big ones painted.

So 30! Hormagaunts, and to relive the stress of painting hordes, three Zoanthropes.
